Congratulations on such positive control. I did this during Thanksgiving time this year. Merry Christmas

Sounds like a hiatal Hernia repair coming for you. My docotr fixed mine same time as lapband procedure. Now, no more reflux. Elevate your head by using extra pillow or lift bed posts on bed where your head lies. Don't eat anything, or don't drink Water 2 hours before you lay down. Tums will help some and you can take 2-3 tablets before you retire. Several tests can be done prior to surgery. Check with doctor or explain to him what is happening. Best wishes

Rojasanoll replied to suzannetx's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Just go back, stay on course, and continue to eat only 1 cup of food with each meal. Go to lots of protein for a fuller sensation. -

feel virtually no side effects from band
Rojasanoll replied to Mistywater35's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
No side effects here so far. Just losing weight a bit slower (7 pounds a month last time). -
doggy ( for the guys here) is the safest so the stitches dont break. That's what my doctor told me and mine didn't break after 5 days.

Just a tip, whenever you can take an elevator please do. Some reports that during early healing in the port area, going and downstairs cause pulling in the muscle area where the port is attached. Also vacuuming/sweeping, lifting of small children should be eliminated for a week to 10 days. What you don't want is to go back into surgery to repair the port area. Congratulations on being banded. Healing will continue for another 14 days or so. Continue to sip Water, and use the heating pad all over your body. I even put in on the port area a couple times a day. Seemed to soothe any discomfort. Best wishes and Keep the Faith.

doctor's goal is 160 pds, so BMI is good. I would like 190 pounds. I'm a little stronger at 190.

You will be on only liquids after surgery. You just as well practice on what you will eat. You should have Protein shakes on hand. You might be swelled after surgery. And the more weight you take off prior to surgery the better for you. It also makes a statement to your surgeon that you care. Best wishes

Does it ever freak you out?
Rojasanoll replied to Peaceful1's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
With God's help, an individual(s) discovered the band. He allowed it to be successful and helpful to lot's of people. I'm not freaked and never felt it as a foreign object but a "tool" which will probably save my life. Best wishes -
Been on a pre op diet since June, banded Aug 6, and haven't tried to eat a hamburger, french fries, or any type of sandwich since. I haven't craved lots of foods that I ate frequently prior to the band. I have to admit, it's high quality food items I eat or it doesn't go into my mouth. I WILL succeed in this band. Nothing will stop me. I want quality of life and good health for my future. Best wishes

Wow, that's alot of fill. I didn't know a surgeon would put that much inside. Allergan studies I got through my sister (a research expert for Allergan) stated abit over 50 percent should be a max for any Allergan band. I guess they've determined a diminishing return on the longevity of the band. But it appears too be working for you and that's the best news. My doctor is very conservative in his fills. I am close to being finished with 5.5cc in a 14cc band. I am 1.5-2 pounds of weight loss each week and that's all he wants, hungry or not. He wants me to understand what are the best foods for the best quality to eat. It is a long process, but he understands that we must say NO to certain foods. Best wishes

Sharp pain and have to go to work!!!
Rojasanoll replied to CandyM's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You are entitled to ask your doctor where the port is for future pains. I asked my surgeon prior where he wanted to install the port. He replied good question? He said based on what he sees inside during surgery will actually determin where to install the port. They usually sew it to a muscle mass so it doesn't move and can be easily "filled". I ask all kinds of questions to my docotr before and even now, how much cc did he put in my fill. It's good information to have. Best wishes and Keep the Faith -
Good luck to both of you. You have made the best possible decision in controlling your weight. We have all tried diets in our pasts amd not many worked and for a short time. If you eat the right foods after surgery and healing, you will lose weight, many inches and your quality of good life will re-appear. Best wishes and Keep the Faith.

It's been kicked around before, but another reason is the soda has carbonation and tends to stretch the pouch a bit. And the other reasons already discussed. My surgeon told me on the first day to Not drink sodas. So, I haven't since July 2012.
