Congratulations to all getting banded soon. For you that dont have to do liquids, you should anyway. After surgery you have to be on liquids for 7-14 days anyway. You might as well, buy a Protein shake, Soup broths, SF popsicles, SF Jello and have it ready. I used exclusively after a trail basis of several Protein shakes, costco Premier Protein shakes, chocolate and ready to drink. 30gs of protein in 11 ounces and only 160 calories. Dont fret about the 160 cals, you probably wont be eating anything else that has calories. It will help you shrink the liver. The band will be near and underneath the liver area. Make it easy for the surgeon to do his job and you won't have that many side effects after surgery. Just follow doctor's orders. Best wishes and Keeep the Faith.

I buy Stevia at Walmart or Fresh N Easy stores. Very reasonable and its a natural ingredient. Been around for over 2000 years.

I'm hoping to stay on course at 8-10 pounds a month loss. I will be close to my weight goal in my signature by my one year band anniversary. I'm not in a big hurry to lose the weight that has taken me a lifetime to gain. Eating better and good is the best way. Best wishes to all

Anniek38, contact your doctor's office and they will tell you what size of band. And everytime you go to get a "fill" in the future, ask the doctor for how much fill he/she put in. It's important information to have and you should know what's in your body. Check my signature at the bottom of my post. You can put one in yours. Lurk more at what we all write. We have all gone throught the process. Be ready and be prepared. Work at getting all your tests ASAP and the results sent to your doctor. If you need to attend seminars on weight control or see a dietitian, make the appointment ASAP. I found by waiting there are many people ahead of you and you will not make surgery day. The doctor will just reschedule you to a later date. Please don't blame the doctor for this, he is in a business to make money to pay his bills. So now its up to you to make the proper and wise choices in what you eat. I hope you didn't think a fill and a tight restriction would do it for you. It will take hard work on your part to not eat the wrong foods. Yes, a restriction will make you feel full quicker, but you have to eat wisely. Since the band works differently for all of us, some will not feel a quick restriction ever. I have 5.5cc in a 14cc band, but I'm losing 1.5-2 pounds per week, so soon my doctor will Not give me any more fills and I feel NO restriction at all. He wants me to learn how to eat wisely for the rest of my life and my weight loss per week is slow and steady. It will be 96 pounds a year if I stay at 8 pounds a month loss. Each doctor does things differently. Maybe yours will give you all the fills until you lose lots of weight. But are you doing it or the band. Best wishes

You should know that there are two types of calcium, calcium carbonate and calcium citrate. Calcium citrate is absorbed much more easily and is the kind of calcium gastric bypass/lapband patients need. When purchasing a calcium supplement, make sure you read the bottle to see what type of calcium you are buying. I google search it for you.

Tell the doctor you will be out of town and for how long. He is the only person to determine what he can do. If he gives you a fill, it will be a small amount of saline. He surely wouldn't give you a big fill and take a chance being so far away. Most ER's in hospital are not equip to remove some of the fill. Check with your doctor ASAP.

What size is your band? I'm assuming you got banded in the last 2 months. You have no information for us to work with. And usually if this is your initial "fill" teh doctor is guessing as well on when you will notice a difference. Everybody is different in what works as a restriction. We need more information? I take it everyday for heart precautions. The only time I stopped was 10 days prior to lapband surgery.

I also weigh everyday. I want to know Daily in what I weigh, good or bad. Too many times in my past I did not weigh often and that forced me to lapband. Don't kid yourself, YOU are the only one that will Control your weight. It's Not the Band by it self. Best wishes and Keep the Faith.

Costco Premier Protein shake (chocolate ready to drink) 30g protein, 160cals. 18 shakes for $23.99. Very tasty and no after taste. I like mine in freezer for 50 minutes to get a smoothie condition.

Lucky I had insurance but mine cost $37,000 for out patient in Cottage hospital in Santa Barbara. So a cash deal would still cost $16-18000.

hydrogen peroxide on a sterile gauze clean 2 times per day is what I had to do for several days. I had no pus just redness coming from 2 different areas. I took a cell photo and sent it to the doctors office. Saved me driving 60 miles each way. My local family doctor saw it as a precaution.

You must count calories and stay with a certain amount daily. You may eat the wrong foods that are very high in carbs/calories and not lose much weight even though you are staying around the 1-1.5 cup a meal ratio. I keep around 1200-1250 calories a day. Maybe a day or two, exceed that amount and if I do this for a few days I will gain weight. This is why you should be interested in what your intake is.

Your doctor will determine if you need a fill and since you have no history in your profile yopu may be way overdue. 5 months since your surgery is a long time with No fill. But, each docotr is different, some are agressive in fills and some are not. Best wishes

Costco Premier Protein Shakes. $24 for 18 shakes, chocolate or vanilla. I use chocolate from freezer for about 50 minutes for a thicker slushy shake for my breakfast.

You will do good because you will commit yourself to improving your health. The diets don't work and you know from any you have tried. Lapband does work and it works well if you commit yourself to it. It's the best thing I did on Aug 6, 2012. Best wishes and Keep the Faith

Congratulations and welcome to this great forum. here as you already know, will be people sharing what they've personally gone through and you will get valuable experiences on how to handle most situations. Hints, tips, and knowledge will be found here. I stayed on liquids for a time(4 weeks) to let my sore spots heal. Then I went to Stage 2 foods. I sometimes go back to liquids for Breakfast and lunch, especially during the holidays. It keeps me honest in case I eat the wrong food types during a special dinner. Sometimes heavily carbed foods are only available and even if you stay on 1-1.5 cups of food per intake, they can be the wrong food types. Best wishes and Keep the Faith.
