did the pre-op or post op diet give you any bathroom problems?
Rojasanoll replied to dolphintattoo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Only in post op and not eating like I use to before lapband did I have bowel movement problems. Fiber gummies and Miralex solved this problem. If you're on pain killers for the surgery and you take them a long time you could have movement problems as well. -
Pressured To Get Gastric Bypass Instead Of Lapband (Dr. Monash)
Rojasanoll replied to Autumn2013's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
Quickly, get rid of this doctor and see someone that will listen. Lapband is the only way when you have such a low BMI and NO morbid issues. I'm even surprised you qualified with insurance. YOU are in control! -
How long until you could drive again?
Rojasanoll replied to dolphintattoo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I drove to breakfast and had coffee and water next morning without any discomfort. Then later that night I drove to my first weight reduction seminar in my hometown on people who have had procedures post op. My dietitian who I saw prior to surgery introduced me and was amazed on how I was doing less than 24 hours later. I felt fine and felt welcomed. Some ladies there who were thinking about a procedure were amazed at my lapband recovery. -
Keep drinking your fluids. I drank over 64 ounces each day and it seemed to bloat me. I wasn't worried about gaining water weight, just shrinking the liver for surgery.

Allergan bands DO NOT come pre-filled from the factory. They are individually sealed in a rubber bag with the fittings, tubes and port and are all marked 10cc OR 14cc according to my sister who works at Allergan in Goleta, Ca. Now some docotrs will pre-fill and un-fill to see if the band works prior to install inside your stomach area. Sometimes, some doctors will not wait long enough for the band bag to completely unfill dropping back down the long tube to the port. So some bands may have saline fluid (1cc or less) or ther dottor may elect to pre-fill and then do the procedure. My doctor during Aug 6 band day told me in my first post-op followup he pre-filled 1.5cc. I didn't know this after surgery until 10 days had passed. Best wishes

Please recommend protein shake brand
Rojasanoll replied to mbmoore2518's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
For me only one that I liked and several were tried by me, Costco Premier Protein chocolate shake, ready to drink. 18 each for $23.99 at Costco. Sometimes they do a $5 off a case for a max of 4 cases ($20 saving) -
high protein breakfast ideas
Rojasanoll replied to lifewillbegood's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I'm not a big breakfast person, Monday-Friday while getting ready for work, so I stick to 1 cup coffee black and 1 costco Protein shake. Seems to hold me until lunch time, 90% of the time. Then at work in my office I obtained permission to purchase a small college dorm refridgerator and I stock it with Protein shakes, SF jello's, Apple sauce and Nonfat Greek yogurt. A nice supply of Crystal lights in a cabinet, lite oatmeal individuals and SF popsicles that I freeze a couple overnight. Best wishes -
Which foods to avoid for new bands
Rojasanoll replied to Sav22age's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I can eat anything, but I don't in general. The items you already listed are them. I don't eat any bread except the dough on 2 slices of pizza about once a month. That's my dough treat and sometimes small portion of rice with Thai foods. Some can not eat leafy vegetables and corn which is usually on any docotr's list. It must be the skin cover and some can't eat grapes due to the skin. Celery is out of most foods, too fiberous. If later you experiement in trying some on the list, make sure they are cooked all the way. Best wishes -
Allergan information on bands: http://www.allergan....lapband_dfu.pdf On page 9 it states 2 sizes a 10cc and the large band 14cc. Maximum Fill Volume Capacities: LAP-BAND AP® System Standard 10 cc LAP-BAND AP® System Large 14 cc Hope this helps somewhat. The pdf file reading is technical but you can understand all the studies that Allergan has completed on their Band.

What size is your band? And there's no history saying you even had a fill so far, only what you told us.How many cc have been put in the band? If you don't know, please ask your doctor. They will give this info to you. It's good information to have. Best wishes

Just 4 days Post-Op
Rojasanoll replied to SnowgirlnTX's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
The rest of the way is lot's easier. You can do this and keep moving during the day. Its better for gas release to walk and keep moving. Keep Sips of Water all day, but NO straw. Brings in to much air while using straws. The heating pad is the best for any pain. Best wishes on your recoveries. -
I never make resolutions! Good luck this year on your goals.

My calories intake is set at 1250-1260 per day. Weight yourself each day (you probably didn't do this in the past and look what happens), understand what you are putting in your mouth. Walk some each day, no miles but short walks, maybe in the mall or big Home Depot up and down each asile. Get back on track, you did it before and YOU can do it again. You now know what to expect, so it should be easier to go back. The unknowns are the scary parts, but YOU now know! Best wishes

Getting First Fill in 2 Days!!! SCARED!!
Rojasanoll replied to NJMommy2Four's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
There is NO pain involved. If you pinch yourself, you will hurt more than the thin-ass needle. Piece of cake and it takes seconds and its over. Over-rated episode! -
Sorry to hear of your misfortune. Nope, mine was very clean and NO issues.

104 piunds down baby....392 to 288
Rojasanoll replied to f1stborn's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Wow! Congratulations! -
When I go to breakfast, I eat them all the time. They usually are only dozen raisins or so in oatmeal. I'm on 1260 calories per day, so I'm not worried of a few raisins.

My sister works for Allergan in Goleta (near Santa Barbara) and Yes its true that they will no longer do research on the band. However, they will continue to provide the bands they have in production for several years in the future. They will sell the band to another company who will continue to support Allergan's band. My Allergan band is a 14cc with Omniform. It was in place on Aug 6 and I've had NO issues.

It's suppose to be a good cardio workout. You can do it!!

Got my first fill today!
Rojasanoll replied to Mama2girls's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Like he didn't do anything. I've had 3 fills and haven't felt tightness so far. But I'm losing at close to 8 pounds a month and my docotr is happy with those results. One day I will get cut off from the fills. The docotr wants me to understand how to eat all the time and not rely on the band fills. -
YOU are only the one that can control feelings and emotions. Think of the band surgery and how good YOU will be for yourself in your quality of Life and hopefully better health. It's all about YOU dear. Not your BF or anyone. Stay focused for the longer goal in your life. Approved surgery may only come once to you. You are so close please stay the course. We are here for YOU. Please call on us. God loves YOU! Best wishes and Keep the Faith

My surgery is in the morning :) 12/31/12.
Rojasanoll replied to DisplayName's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Best wishes and prayer's for a successful surgery to all banders today. You will all do very well. Keep the Faith -
That's true! The band doesn't stop you from putting the wrong foods in your mouth. This is all up to YOU. When you start getting your fills(in about 6 weeks) it will "assist" you in feeling fuller once a proper amount of saline solution is inserted in the band. This will take several times before the doctor and yourself understands the restriction. You did the right thing by banding for better health and hopefully a better quality of life. Best Wishes
