It will be the best thing you ever do for yourself. I'm close to 80 pounds in total weight loss. I was banded on Aug 6 and its been an easy road so far. A couple of days of ups and downs but once you learn how to use the band it will be there for you. If you over eat somewhat (more than a cup of food) my band talks to me amd then I know to stop. I believe my restrictions on my fills so far have helped some but I still don't think I'm in the "zone" that everybody talks about. My doctor is tight with fills and wants his patients to learn how to use their band. He just won't give you a fill because you asked for one. When I'm at 1.5-2 pounds a week weight loss, NO fill that appointment. You have to beg him for a fill. Best wishes and keep the faith.

Congratulations! At least you are not gaining in those areas or others. It takes a long time to lose the weight and its hard to pick on a spot and just lose weight there. But overall weight loss is what we all want. I've dropped 6 inches on my waist and have had to buy pants a couple of times already. Hoping to achieve my 100 weight loss sometimes this year. Best wishes

You are losing and not gaining! That's a win!! We all have different speeds as to how long it takes to lose weight. My doctor wants me to lose no more than 3 pounds per week. Slow and steady over a lonf term. We learn how to eat differenrtly. Be positive and Best wishes

12 days since banding
Rojasanoll replied to Hersheyskiss21's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You need low calories and low sugar amounts so your body can heal and try and burn the fat cells on your body. If you eat sugar, it will burn this as fuel and not the fat on your body. Use nonfat greek yogurt with Stevia. SF popsicles, SF jelly and Crystal light flavor drinks to mix up the flavors and varieties. Stay on track and you will be okay. Best wishes -
Amazing! I've been doing this as a way to jump start my diet and eating habits. I go to Protein shakes for 2 meals a day and some nonfat yougurt the other meal for 2-3 days then return back to smaller eating habits. This will help keep you tight. Thanks B-52 for saying you do this also. It seems to work in the past for me, and I use this method as a way to "tweak" myself and my pouch again. I didn't know there were other's here that do this also. Best wishes

Protein Shake Reccomendations
Rojasanoll replied to ireallywannabthin's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
EAS is okay but it gives me an after taste. Costco Premier Protein Shakes ready to drink. 18 each for $23.99 only 160 calories and 1 gram of sugar. 30 grams of protein. Chocolate tastes yummy! -
After holidays and getting back on track... suggestions welcome
Rojasanoll replied to Isaacsmomma's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Protein shakes at breakfast and lunch. Then a snack of nonfat greek yogurt for 5 days. A simple small dinner. You will get back on track and drop 4 pounds. If you exercise ssome, maybe 5 pounds in a week. -
a little nonfat greek yogurt between meals with Stevia, curbs my appetite.

Many good points and tips have been provided to you. But remember, YOU are the only one in control of your body and what you do with it. You probably will lose a great deal of weight by watching what you eat and being banded. In the past, we all over ate and probably did not exercise or very little. This did not work! Now, you gone through the ordeal of a weight loss surgery with time off from work and YOU don't want to exercise at all. Sounds like you are going backwards in one of the bad patterns when you were heavier. Just moving or parking the car a bit farther at work or when shopping for an item or two, park farther away. Walk your local Home Depot or Walmart from beginning to end. Do something to be worthy of the Band. Best Wishes

Both have to be controlled. Too much of either will gain weight. Since I don't eat to much sugar anything, I would look for fat free most of all. Non-fat then skim milk versus 1% or 2% milk products.

I always have water nearby (even while eating for emergency) but I try and wait 30-45 mninutes after eating. Then I drink some water/decaf coffee. I usually drink at least 16-20 ounces just prior to eating (or within 10 minutes of eating) to give me a fuller sensation so 1 cup is plenty of food for my meal. My doctor wants me around 64 ounces a day at minimum.

oatmeal, mashed potatoes, mashed Beans. Theres some applesauce that is not sugar free at Walmart but it very low calories for the amount you can eat, about 50-60 calories per cup. Taste better than sugar free applesauce. SF popsicles, SF Jello, cream of wheat, light cream Soups. I actually stayed a week longer on liquids to make sure none of the mushy's bothered me and I was able to lose a bit more weight. Congratulations!

Different Surgeons, Different Instructions
Rojasanoll replied to ILUVMATH's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
We all learn from each other's mistakes and since this is a new learning process for all of us, some may choose this path and others will try an alternate path. Two different doctor's from maybe two different medical schools taking different paths. Use this forum and see what others have been told. Is there really much nutritional value from a diet soda? Is it truly harmful? We can all answer these questions. We will all grow from our new process and our new journey together. We all choose a different path, when we decided with our doctor's/ dietitian's help in choosing lapband, sleeve or other. Best wishes and Keep the faith. -
WE must all follow directions from others. We might agree and strongly disagree but please Don't close the door and NOT try. See what works for you and then decide if it is good. Keep an open mind in this life committed learning process. food will be our worse enemy if we all don't learn from the process of our new journey. Do not fall back into "old" habits in your eating. IT probably wasn't good for you in your past and it won't be good for you in the future. Tweak and modify your personal needs in your journey. Have a great and safe weekend everybody! Best wishes and Keep the Faith

The day is finally here!!! My Mom and I are on our way to surgery!!
Rojasanoll replied to Brittb1987's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hugs and many prayers have been sent for the both of you. Keep the faith and everything will be okay. YOU will both learn and will be happy on your new hourney together. Please don't make this a contest with each other, but a learning experience for the two of you. Since each body is different, one of you may adapt a certain pattern that will not work for the other. I'm looking at this as a motivation from within for each other. Mom and daughter a BIG HUG for both of you. Best wishes and Keep the Faith. -
