Even after losing weight. Why do i still look and feel fat?
Rojasanoll replied to tym4me's topic in WLS Veteran's Forum
For many years , many of us look into the mirror as we get our days ready and see how we were for so many years. That image is still embedded in our eyes and brains. But, just remember that all of us are probably in different clothes sizes after our weight loss and when you get on a weight scale, Whay does it indicate? Yes, we are lighter, normally with this feeling our health improves, our quality of life is better, and some of us even receive compliments from friends and lovers. Do you remember How many compliments you received before your weight reduction? My answer is NONE! Best wishes and Keep the Faith. -

Thank you for all your advice
Rojasanoll replied to mrsluckyvega's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Make sure you take any pain meds the doctor prescribed to you. Take them on schedule for the first 2 days especially at night so you can get a good nights rest. After waking continue to SIP the Water, liquid Protein, SF Jello and follow doctor's directions. Use your heating pad, on shoulders, stomach area and back even if there is no pain. It will help soothe and relax the body after the surgery. Best wishes and Keep the Faith. -
Hi im new to this !!!!
Rojasanoll replied to Esthompson01's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This is about YOU! YOU are the one that has seeked a way to lose weight and get back quality living. YOU are doing it for you. It's unfortunate that we are all created differently. Some can eat all day long and never gain weight. But you are approaching this in a correct way. WE are all in this together here in this forum. By making wise and good choices in what we eat, we will achieve our goals. WE have all gone through the liquid state to shrink the liver prior to surgery, get our minds in doing what is right and trying to obtain good health. Please don't worry abouit individuals you don't have control over, let them do what they want. You attack your own problem and if you follow all thr rules laid out by your dietitian or doctor, YOU will take back Control in your life. Best wishes and Keep the Faith! YOU will do IT! -
You are still healing and some will take 4-5 weeks to heal. Do only liquids for the first 10 days or follow your doctors orders completely. Do not deviate! I added an extra week of liquids to my post op to make sure I was okay in the healing process. People want to lose their weight quickly and hopefully look good. A BNig mistake! Take it slower and steady and learn how to eat good and make proper choices. This is a Lifetime committment. Best wishes

Best wishes on your new weight control. Hope it performs better than your problems in the past. Remember, we call all eat the wrong foods and still keep our weight. Better choices are a must for everybody. Congratulations

Most will get 3-5 fills before they are restricted and not get too hungry within 4 hours. The doctors are guessing somewaht at the beginning because everybody is different in their restrictions. As the weight loss slows down, the doctors will usually "tweak" the band by small amounts of Fluid. My doctor wants to keep his patients to only 8 pounds a month or around 100 pounds per year. This will get his patients in teh good metal frame to eat quality foods and learn how to eat properly. If he sees you losing too much, he will not fill. A very conservative doctor. Best wishes

getting banded in march
Rojasanoll replied to antjh15's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Follow your doctors orders exactly. Buy the items that you will need ahead of surgery, the doctors offices will give you a list of items. Have liquid tylenol/ibruprofen (baby section of store is the place) , heating blanket and plenty of SF popsicles, SF Jello (I buy Walmart jello cups ready to eat and many flavors) broths, chicken/beef/veggie and then I dash a bit of dried oinion spices for greatly added flavor. I'm using Costo Premier Protein shakes, 18 pack for $24.99. I use the chocolate flavor, freeze for 50-60 minutes and makes a thick smoothie. 11 oz, no calories,no sugar, 30 grams of Protein. I do use low sugar applesauce as a treat after you've gone through all the stages as a treat. Youtube surgery and helpful hints are available to view. MOst can not watch the surgery, I did and learned from it. I was driving my car the next day with no pain only a bit of port discomfort. They sew the port on muscle mass near belly button area and sleeping was hard for a couple days. A very soft pillow on the port helps greatly. It's the best thing I've ever done in getting banded. I should have done this years ago, instead of thinking dieting was the answer. Remember, the band is only a tool and you have to still make wise choices in food selections or YOU will gain the weight slowly back. It's about YOU and YOUR health, now and in the future. Best wishes -
WE can answer our own needs and justify it, no matter if it's right or wrong. It belongs to us and nobody else. We are probably here because diets don't work very well. Maybe our quality of life has slipped or slipping into despair. There are always health issues to worry about, now and future health issues. I did my homework probably in Jan 2012 on the lapband. Saw all the Youtube surgeries, videos and then finally visited this forum. Truly, my mind was made up after my research and this forum didn't have much influence. On the very good side, most of my research was from Allergan company and my sister. She works in Goleta, Ca Allergan site and checked out lots of infornation and studies done on the band in a long term study. Once I read about all the risks and realized this is about my health, I went forward with the journey. I actually started in early July 2012 going on a liquid Protein diet and a small salad with chicken about 30 days prior to even seeing a doctor about Banding. I had lost 34 total pounds prior and during pre-op surgery for myself and finally for my doctor. I was banded on Aug 6, 2012 and have never looked back and thought, Should I or Shouldn't I. I was all steam ahead for me. Only higher BP readings were my concern, the rest of me is very healthy. I have longevity in my parents, 92 yrs my dad( recently passed on Oct 29, 2012) and my mom, 87 yers old. This has been easier than I expected. Now and then, I tweak myself into drinking Protein shakes for a few days to boost jump losing weight from a plateau stop. Unfortunately, I could have lost many more pounds up to now, If I liked or was truly motivated in exercising. But, I'm not! My job stops lots of days where I don't feel like doing much except rest. I work at Vandenberg AFB, Ca with a private civilian contractor in the Missile launch business. Most launches unfortunately, do not have an 8 to 5 work schedule. We shoot around the clock in many early mornings and my body clock has been on 4 hours of sleep per day if I'm lucky. I've been during this for years. Not complaining because I have a interesting and exciting job and I'm loving every moment in my work. Best wishes and Keep the Faith!

Pre op diet: how much did you lose?
Rojasanoll replied to contrabanded's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I lost 34 pounds pre-op in preparing for the band. 20 pounds before I met the doctor and in the next 10 days I lost 14 pounds to get ready for surgery. Lots of liquids, Protein shakes and broths plus lots of exercise to get ready for surgery. I should have band years ago. Best thing I've ever done. -
Do you ever momentarily forget you are banded??
Rojasanoll replied to LuuLuu's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I look in the mirror when I get ready for work and the image I now see is totally different from before the band. I like what I see and I'm continuing the battle of weight control with the band.
