I had a known hernia but the extent on how big it was at surgery I din not know. My doctor repaired it and my insurance paid 100%. I guess the insurance companies save money when there is one surgery opening and two things are done. So, there's usually no squack form the insurances. My GERD is all gone. Best wishes

All of us , suffered in some fashion after surgery, some more than others. We took time off to have the surgery, we bought special products, exercise equipment, Protein, Vitamins, etc. But most thougfht it would be easy to lose weight and never realized it takes great efforts & time to lose the weight it took us a lifetime to gain. How hungry are you in getting back to a good weight for you, possibly getting better health and maybe longer longeviety? Please make a choice on which way you want to travel. This is an easy choice for me. Best wishes and Keep the Faith

When Should I Start Considering It Weightloss?
Rojasanoll replied to Shelleymb's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I weigh everyday on a very expensive (over $250) and accurate machine. I didn't weigh myself before and that's why I'm here. My weight loss started on my first day of dieting prior to even seeing my doctor back in Jul 2012. Even though my actual Aug 6 band day is the day the doctor's office uses as weight loss, I know in my heart that I was refining my ways of eating better food choices and dieting to prepare for surgery. I used Protein shakes way prior to seeing my doctor and had everything in place prior to surgery. So the fast for me was a piece of cake. I still have a long ways to go to get to my goal but it took me a long time to get fat, so I'm in this for the long term effect. Best wishes to all and Keep the Faith. -

Congratulations and thank you for sharing your story. Too many of us write only negative things happening to us. We need more positive inputs/stories sharing ideas. WE all want to succeed and WE are in this together! Best wishes and Keep the Faith -
Cheating, if any occurs and your liver doesn't shrink to the surgeon's standards he will gladly postpone your surgery. The liver is in the surgeon's way when the band is being placed. If a diet of rich fats is being used as a "cheat" aid, the liver will tell it all. Why take any chances and stay on the doctor's ordered diet. When in doubt, call the doctor's office and speak to a staff person or dietitian. Best wishes on upcoming surgery.

Congratulations on your band. Swelling is common after the band surgery. Sometimes the port area is tender because they attach the port and sew it in place. I drove the next day after my band and didn't have any pain at all. I was bloated for awhile but remember to SIP the Water. drinking lot's of water is important and follow ant directions from your doctor. All doctor's have different rules. Best wishes

First fill complete:)
Rojasanoll replied to phenix1824's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes, and follow doctor's directions. It is very important if you feel that restriction this early to eat Protein first. I'm surprised your doctor gave you a fill this soon after surgery. Most will wait until Stage 4 or later before you get any fills. Some doctor's want you to eat peoperly before a fill. This almost ensures any swelling completely gone. Best wishes -
Feeling kind of down...
Rojasanoll replied to GeorgiaGirlie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Congratulations on a 75 pound weight loss. That's a big loss. You should start feeling clothes a bit loose on you. Try and remember how long it took you to get heavy and unhealthy. It will take some time before you notice a big loss but everything you are doing is working for you. This weight loss is for YOU! Unfortunately, weight loss takes time but you are re learning how to eat properly and not as much. Challenge yourself with a future goal and try to achieve this goal. Remember , You can never Fail, unless you allow yourself. Your weight loss equates to better health in your future. Best positive and keep the Faith. YOU can do it! -
Best wishes and keep the Faith. God takes care to those who believe in him.

first fill today
Rojasanoll replied to TEAM SASHA PINK's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Over rated in the pain department. On a scale of 1 to 10, with 10 equals lots of pain, its a 0. I felt NO restriction until about the 3rd fill. Most doctors go it slow on the fills and want you to continue to make the right choices with food. Best wishes -

I came out of the closet yesterday
Rojasanoll replied to flrosie's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Lapband surgery is NOT an easy way out. Look what you have to go through, elective surgery! Some easy way and then recovery, time off from work (sick leave or vacation), special Vitamins & foods, monthly (or close) doctor's follow-up visits(more time off). Some easy way! On he other hand, the real Easy way is to stay fat, possibly shortening your life, and eating fast foods all your life until you die. I guess thats an easier way. You are doing right, stay the course and Keep the faith. YOU can do this! Best wishes -
I try and stay around 1250-1260 calories a day, Then if I eat a bit over 1 cup on a meal I also have the calories, so I subtract from the 1250 total. I'm not fully restricted so far but I'm close.

Hope this isn't a crazy question...
Rojasanoll replied to Froggy1125's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
At the time of my band surgery on Aug 6, 2012, my insurance didn't cover the sleeve. I've truly believe you should talk to as many people as you can. If you live near yoru doctor's office or can get there easliy. Park your car neaarby and see the people going in the office. Stop them and tell them you are interested in weight reduction. Ask politely for their opinions on what they received and how it's been so far. You will be amazed at how many people will openly give you the information you want to receive. Best wishes And I chose the least evasive way at the time. -
"Tweaking" should have been done by your doctor if the band is okay. Some fills of .3 to .5cc might have done the trick. Too many doctors think we need instant weight loss, so they give 1.5cc or more. This is okay at the beginning if you can swallow, but as you take in fills, they should tweak them in. Your body should tell you and you must tell the doctor on any tightness, discomfort or any other pains you experience. Best wishes

The first and only time so far, was lots of time and walking helped. Do not drink think you'll force it down quicker. You will hurt more. Ane the veggies have to be cooked or like you stated, chew and chew and chew before swallowing. I let some time past on my first occurance and it seemed forever before I started feeling okay. Cutting the veggies into slivers is really helpful if you must eat them. Best wishes

Blood Pressure and Lap Band Surgery Question?????
Rojasanoll replied to Food_vs_Life's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
After you lose 40-50 pounds you should see a big decrease in your BP readings and if you retain Water around lower legs/ankles this will decrease as well. Best wishes and keep the Faith -
If its the port or lapband, they are all not perfect and there is a certain very small percent that failures do occur or the band it self doesn't last long before something goes wrong. There are "lemons" unfortuantely in bands and not just cars. Work with your doctor or switch to another and make it happen for you. Best wishes and Keep the Faith.

JUST wondered if everyone knows the TYPE of BAND they have..??
Rojasanoll replied to Majj's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Mine is Allergans last lapband called Omiform 14cc. My total cc's right now is 6.5cc. I read Allergan studies of the tests they used during lab results. My sister works for Allergan in Santa Barbara, Ca. They recently sold the Lapband to another company. But will continue to work with the new company as upgrades occur. Best wishes
