How long should i take off work???
Rojasanoll replied to manders80's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had lots of vacation so I took a full week off, but I drove the next day after surgery (within 12 hours) without any problems. I had no problems other than some gas which the heating pad helped me alot. -
What to take for general aches and pains?
Rojasanoll replied to jbandster's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
In the baby/children section at Longs (CVS) stores they sell children Ibuprofen in liquid form with a bubble gum flavor. You have to at least double the dosage to work on an adult. Ask the pharmacy helpers. I use to use apple sauce to mask off most yucky crushed pills. -
I feel it by the band. Enough is enough!
-
Fills or not, restricted or not, YOU still have to make all the good choices in what you eat on every meal. The band by itself won't save you. Make wise healthy choices. Best wishes

Just remember, the free advice comes from personal information which some have gone through. It is there personal struggle that they encountered. Take the good and bad here. But include your doctor/dietitian is your decisions. That's who you're paying. Best wishes -

First fill, now I wait
Rojasanoll replied to koolkel's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You need to have the band close to half full before you are close to green zone. When you hit 4.5 to 5.5 you might be in the zone. It's different for everybody. Best wishes -
check with yoru doctor.

Congratulations on taking steps for a new YOU and hopefully better health. Just follow all yoru doctor's orders when you receive them and the sooner you start a lighter diet the better it will be in shrinking your liver prior to surgery. I started mine close to trwo months before being banded, by using prtein shakes and dinner salads (vinegar/oil) and many Soups. Best wishes

Tighter Isn't Always Better
Rojasanoll replied to Jean McMillan's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Magazine
Since we know our bodies better than some doctor's, WE are the only ones that can judge what we need and how we eat. Opinions and lot's of free advice always is around us to try and use, but WE will make the decision and choices that WE feel are the correct ones. Most of us already know that Protein first, then the rest. WE just have to retrain our brains and DO IT! PS. Jim1967 you're doing GREAT! Best wishes -

Did anyone here divulge at work that they had a lap band?
Rojasanoll replied to teeney66's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Because I've lost close to 86 pounds since band day of Aug 6, 2012, I did tell a few close workers. Some spread the news out at work. I don't care what they think because I'm lot's happier and feel healthier. it was for ME! Best wishes -
When Do you Get Fills?
Rojasanoll replied to hockeymother's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgeon only wants a weight loss of 1 to 2 punds per week . If more than 2 pounds in a week, NO fill. I think I'm close to my fill end with 6.5cc in a 14cc band. All symptoms are indicating after eating a few bites of any food, I fill up quicker on my last fill and stay full longer. -
Wow! Stunning Beauty!

Congratulations to the both of you. Best wishes and Keep the Faith.

Rojasanoll replied to mothering9's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Start walking a little each hour. Helps with any gas to be released. SIP your Water. Use heating pad. And take your pain meds if you have any for a good nights sleep. Best wishes -

Rojasanoll replied to shaziajan87's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Welcome and Congratulations on your upcoming surgery. You will do fine and a new YOU will appear. It's all about how do and follow yoru doctor's orders. SIP your Water, do some walking to alleviate any gas discomforts. I drove my car the next day less than 20 hours after surgery and I felt fine. Ask any questions on this great forum. Best wishes and Keep the Faith -
How Much Food is Enough?
Rojasanoll replied to Jean McMillan's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Magazine
Too bad there isn't an operation or drug to fake our brian in thinking it's satisified with our food intake instead of over eating. -
First experience with scrambled eggs
Rojasanoll replied to nicolelmartinez's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
For some this is very true. You have to introduce some of the foods you were accustomed to eating prior to surgery, just watch your portions. The band truly works but making the proper choices is the only way. As you get closer to your green zone make sure you chew your food all the way before swallowing. As the restriction of the band tightens, a "stuck" with food is very possible, and chewing your food and eating smaller bites almost eliminates this bad feeling. Best wishes -
