Aetna Advice Please
exeznohz123 replied to Jason Can Do it!'s topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I have Aetna with no medical history and only a BMI of 31% and got approved. You should be fine! -
So today was a very long and tiring day at work (EMS). I realized today how bad my joints hurt at only 21 . Getting in and out of the ambulance my knees just ache. This should not be happening this young....ugh cant wait until that disappears! On another note, I am only 10 days away from surgery (singing the final countdown), I cannot wait. Everyday it gets closer the anticipation increases! Most people are asking if Im nervous but I dont feel anything except excitement. Im off this weekend so Im planning to go shopping for all my liquid diet food (I guess thats what youd call it). Anyone have any great ideas? I will be returning to work a week post surgery and I need travel friendly items. Also trying to avoid dairy during the day since I am outside and dont think dairy + heat = a good equation. Thanks for all the support. I love this site!! Ashley

Congrats!!! My surgery is the 19th and Im soooo pumped its like a little kid on Christmas! -
Although I have never been pregnant I can totally relate on the fact of people not supporting you. I just turned 21 on Sunday and a lot of my "friends" have said the exact same thing. Although the people who are saying this have either a) never dealt with weight issues or dont understand exactly what happens after the lapband surgery and how YOU are the one to decide how much weight you will actually lose and if the procedure will even be effective or not. I will be having surgery on July 19th and now that I have finished the process I couldnt be happier. I wish you the best of luck and just know there are people our age who can totally relate and are here if you need to talk!

Hey everyone my name is Ashley and I am a 21 year old female from Indiana. I currently am 5'7 and 285 lbs with a BMI of 31%. I will begin my banded journey on July 19th, 2012 and could not be happier to finally get this weight loss trip on the road. All my life I have been considered the "bigger" girl. Although I have always been VERY active, I have ALWAYS been overweight. I currently work EMS and live a very on the go lifestyle. Being as young as I am I dont have very many people to turn to that know what I am about to go through. Most of my friends tell me "Im beautiful the way I am and I dont need to change that", but they have never walked in my shoes. I hope to hear lots of advice and support from people who have been there and done that.
