I was sleeved 4 days ago. I had my pain ball removed today and hopefully will get my drain removed on monday. I am still having a hard time catching my breath. It doesn't seem like my pain meds are even touching the pain. I still can't sleep more than 10 minutes at a time. Did you have any pain issues? I'm walking my butt off but still am having a tough time.

I was sleeved on Monday. I have a drain which my husband empties twice a day. They also put a "pain ball" in, which is 2 small catheters that deliver pain/numbing medication. I had that removed today. Didn't feel a thing. The drain however has to stay in until monday. I've had a drain before and I won't lie. It's hurts when they take them out, but after a couple minutes you won't even remember it because you'll feel so much better. They gave me blood thinners while I was in the hospital but nothing after I left. It's been a rough week for sure, and I have to keep telling myself that it will be the best decision i ever made... once the aches and pains are gone. You'll do just fine! My best advice after surgery.... walk walk walk walk walk! Then walk some more. It helps!

Congratulations! My surgery is tomorrow! I'm trying to get in as much liquid as I can today. I haven't eaten anything since monday this past week and in 5 days, I lost 19 pounds.... crazy! I think the nerves have really set in! Congrats on your journey!!!!

I completely agree with Lissa! You have to be commited! Everyone reacts differently to any diet/surgery. Go in with a clear head and know that this surgery isn't a "magical fix". Emotions will try and get the better of you, but don't let them! If you feel like you are going to "fail", don't ever be afraid to seek help. That's what we are all here for! To help eachother through the ups and downs of this surgery! Use us! I am thankful to have come across this site, and for a very supportive husband. I live on a military base and the doctors here require that we continue to go to a support group before and after the surgery. It really does help a lot!

Omg I Don't Know Whats Going On
Cindy H replied to tinytears's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 3 days and a wake up from my surgery. Some doctors require some weight loss before the surgery. I have lost 15 pounds since monday. I've been on a clear liquid/sugar free liquid and protein shake diet. Try that for a week, and then try a high protein/low carb deal like you've done before. Best of luck!!! -
caffine free is probably safer. Since you are still healing, the acid can hurt pretty bad. I am still pre-op but i also had the lap band before. My surgery is this coming monday. Congratulations on your journey!

You really have to go into this knowing that it is a complete lifestyle change. If you don't, there is a possibility that it could fail.

12 Hours Til Surgery! Ahhhhhhhhhhhh!
Cindy H replied to Imperfectlyperfect's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You will do GREAT!!!! It is definitely an emotional rollercoaster! Advice.... WALK! walk as much as you can after your surgery! It will help the air escape that they pump into your abdomen. If that air gets stuck, it hurts. Walk walk walk! Look forward to your healthier future and let go of your past. Another thing I learned... take pictures once a month. It helps with the mental images that sometimes you can get stuck with of being "heavy". I had the lab band before, and I struggled with those mental images of myself. Do not be afraid to go talk to someone about how you are feeling! Best of luck tomorrow! Congratulations on your journey! Let us know how you are doing as soon as you feel up to it!!!! HUGS! -
I am on day 4 of my pre-op and my surgery is Monday. I am doing a sugar free/clear liquid diet and protein shakes. No food at all However, I talked to my nutritionist today and she told me to drink one cup of coffee to ease the headaches. She also told me to drink tomato juice. I've lost 15 pounds since monday. Some days are much better than others that is for sure! I agree! we will survive this and come out on top! Best of luck!!!!!!!!

It gets better! Walk as much as you can! My surgery is Monday. I had the lap band before and I walked as much as I could afterwards. It helps all that air escape and will take a lot of the pressure off! Congratulations on your surgery!!!!!!

If I Dont Lose The 10Lbs

You can absolutely do this! I am 5 days away from my surgery. I started a clear, sugar free liquid diet, plus 2 protein shakes a day on monday. I have already lost 11 pounds! You'll do great! As for the cold, i hope you feel better soon! -
I am so jealous your pre-op is only 3 days!! I've been drinking mostly water and sugar free hawaiin punch. If I have my protein shakes close together, my stomach ends up hurting. Your surgery is 1 week after mine! We should definitely keep in touch!!! Good Luck to you too!!!

I am feeling exactly the same way you are! I am 4 days away from my surgery. I actually had the lap band before but it prolapsed so I had to have it removed and now I am starting all over again. I am probably more nervous now than I was before! I have been on a clear liquid diet since monday and am SOO hungry. I got my weight done at my preop nutrition last Thursday and since I started my liquid diet, I have lost 11 pounds in 3 days. Don't know how it happened but according to the scale...I have! Good luck with your journey!!!!
