First 5K This weekend! Super Excited!
earth2terra replied to Carly4HandinSD's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I'm in Texas but also doing my first 5k this Saturday! I'm so excited, it's an amazing feeling to think I can even run some of it! Good luck on your run and most important have fun! -
A little back ground ..I'm on week 5 day 1 of couch 25k, it's going great and going to do color in motion fun run feb2.. Sooooo excited. I run every other day while at home with the kiddos two days a week I work double shifts as a baggage handler for united so exercise after or before work isn't going to happen believe me I get plenty while I'm there. So finally here's the question.. I'm looking for some at home strength training wether it be a routine or a video I can do on the days I run , I realistically I have to get all my excercise in on those three days, is this feasible and what are some recommendations? I tried it yesterday doing Jillian michaels trouble zone shred about 5 hours before my run and I feel like I really struggled through because of it

Maybe be its the incline that's doing you in? I read that 1.5 incline closely resembles outdoors normal walking conditions.. Good luck hope it gets better soon

In addition to the foot fat loss there's also the cant reach the gas petal syndrome.. My husband and I alternate use of our work car and he's asked me recently why I keep moving the seat around... Apparently I've lost back fat or bottom of the foot fat or something it seems like I'm having to scoot closer and closer to the steering wheel to reach the gas

Does anyone one know the science behind starvation mode? I realize our bodies are functioning different now but at what point are we consuming to few calories? Personally I'm 3 months out and generally get about 650cals and 70ish grams protein... if I do the calculations this isn't even half of my basal metabolic rate( the supposed number of cals my body would burn lying in bed all day) I believe I could up my intake a bit I'm just scared to do so I suppose, any advice? Similar concerns?

In the 2.5 since surgery I've lost 40lbs, of course 15 of that was in the first two weeks but... Don't get me wrong I'm not at all upset with my loss, I just want be sure I'm doing what best for my body. I started couch to 5k this week so that's got me thinking and trying piece all the puzzle pieces together for the long term

First Day Back In The Gym... Im So Weak Now!
earth2terra replied to Donny's topic in Fitness & Exercise
The upside to this is though you may feel weaker on weights how much does your loss so far affect what you can do cardio wise? For me I'm down 50 with preop and I can definitely tell the difference and yesterday was my first day back to work ( I'm a baggage handler for united) it was soo much easier climbing in and out of the planes I was blown away -

I'm with you too week 6 out and have been up and down the same 3 lbs since week 4, I feel like the scale will never budge! It also doesn't help that my crazy scale will give 3 different readings with in 10 seconds. I'm wondering if I need more calories I'm getting about 600 daily an 60 grams protein BUT I guess I've got myself brainwashed that more calories is what got me to this point..? -

Almost In Onederland!
earth2terra replied to evelynvsg's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Good luck to you ladies! We should start an almost to onederland group, I'm 12 away myself ! What are all of your diets like right now? Calorie and carb ranges? I've asked the on the board before and gotten alot of " I only count protein" type answers but its best for me to track all the aspects of this new way of eating -
I am one month out yesterday and down 22 lbs post op and 45 total . Right now I'm averaging between 400-500 cal a day but I'm wondering if this should be higher. I'm getting in all my water and about 60 g of protein. I know every docs recommendations are different but I'm wondering what is working for each individual. My loss has slowed ALOT the last couple weeks and I realize thus is the dreaded three week stall but I want to be sure I'm not putting myself in mode

Challenge: New Year's Day 2013
earth2terra replied to Holly5.3's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm in good luck everybody! First consult with surgeon 07/2012. 260 Day of surgery 10/18/2012. 237 Today. 11/15/2012. 215 Jan 1 2013. ONEDERLAND BABY!!!!! -
I do track my vitamins, I like to see how my vitamins and minerals stack up for the day. Also, early out on chewables it's good to be aware that many of them are relatively high in carbs especially gummies

25 Days Before And After!
earth2terra replied to imworthit's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
For sure! Especially in your torso! Have you been measuring? I'm about as many days out as you and am in a stall just checked measurements and down 16 inches so the stall doesn't bother me as bad now -
I don't know about you but being well endowed myself the number one thing I wanted to do post op is put my bra back on so as soon as I was out of recovery I was putting on a sports bra! It wasn't painful and not to much trouble I did have dh there to help me sort things out though. I'd advise against the zippered front just incase you do have high incisions..( one of mine is high and direct center) maybe find the softest loosest one then that'll still give you that little bit of coverage
-
I'm one week out today down ten lbs. 33 lbs overall And most notable for me today I finally weigh less than my husband! This week has been pretty smooth incisions healing nicely, they are itchy but I'm just an itchy kind of girl. No problem getting in my fluids and protein now, I started out sipping from shot glasses but graduated quickly to a big girl glass . I still am a bit short on energy but that probably due to the lack of carbs and calories. Which leads me to my one question, should I be concerned over # of cals? I'm using body fortress shakes that get me almost 80 grams protein throughout the day but only equal out to 360 cals, how long can the body run on that few? I really don't feel any hunger yet, will that change as time goes on or am I one of the lucky ones?

Does anyone crush their vits as opposed to chewables early out? I'm concerned about the added sugars and horrible flavor in the chewies . Also if you do how do you swallow them seems like they'd taste worse all powdery

Public Service Reminder... To My Self
earth2terra posted a topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
stalls can and will happen probably earlier than I would hope and for longer than I can stand but it's COMPLETELY normal. The weight I have lost to said point I will never regain again the weight I lose after said stall breaks I will never regain again. I may lose slow, the slow lbs I lose I will never regain again. All I have to do is stick to my plan and embrace the tool I've been given, every ounce of weight I lose from my surgery date forward is gone... Forever.. It really is that simple! I realize some tweaks may need to be made, as in life your going to have to be flexible find what works best... everybody's body is different and I plan to learn to work in harmony with mine -
I'm not sure if its normal but I'm doing it too! I feel guilty but just can't seem to stop. That's how I got in this mess in the first place I know but sheesh... I don't start preop diet till next Thursday and my docs not real strict on that anyway. I haven't stepped on a scale in weeks to scarred to see the number. I'm actually excited for it to be mandatory that I do the preop diet maybe I can stick to it better .. I think I'm going to do two breakfast and lunch shakes then high protein dinner
-
Any other preops out there scheduled for the 18th? Looking for a buddy or buddies. I'm scheduled at Houston northwest with dr balette in just 23 days . I'm so excited an anxious it's going to be the longest 23 days ever. I'm 5'4 and sitting probably at about 260 right now. I'd love to see maybe 140, I haven't be that weight since maybe 8th grade.. Wish me luck everybody here I go!!!!!

Finally Got A Date! Oct18
earth2terra replied to earth2terra's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi nice to year from you all we are all pretty close together with surg dates .DWBROWN :.My doc doesnt require much of a preop diet but I kinda wish he did. He says low carb low fat but nothing more specific . He is very specific and strict on the post opp diet though .. Soo I think I'm going to do 2 shakes and high protein dinner just to get in the groove.
