Feeling Like I Was Sucker Punched............repeatedly
milkD replied to Amanda41's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had a lot of issues with water too at first but I made myself drink it so I wouldn't get dehydrated. The lemonade they had at the hospital went down easier for me. Also when I got home and had milk, broths and protein drinks they all went down better too. -
I'm having this issue of not chewing enough at 4-weeks out but my stomache is not warning me. Feels just fine. I get more gurgling from liquids. I am eating slowly, taking small bites and waiting in between but I need to work on that chewing!!
-
Make sure you are sipping very very slowly. Take breaks between sips. I couldn't drink much at first either. I know that tightness too but now 4-weeks out I only feel it with heavy food, not drinks. So yes you will get better.

So close to 3-weeks post op I was feeling pretty good pain-wise. Just a little soreness on the left side if I stretch or bend down. More like muscle soreness. Then last week my period starts and I start to have more stomach pains which isn't unusual during my time of the month. Now a week later, period is gone but the pain is worse. I'm fine sitting, lying, walking but standing from sitting, sitting too forward or bending down hurts a lot!!! The pain is different from the pains after the hospital. That was more an overall pain in the whole left side that felt more like muscles. This new pain is sharp and feels localized in the same spot. It's been like this for 5-6 days. Should I be worried or is this just healing pains? I'm having no other discomforts and can eat and drink really well.

Anyone Else Have This Pain?
milkD replied to milkD's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks for all the help! I went ahead and called the doctor and the nurse told me it sounded like a pulled muscle but she would ask my doctor tomorrow just to be safe. -
The first time ever when I met my PCP is when I asked for a wls referral. It was never even a question for me. I came in with all the paperwork and tests I would need. When I met her we talked a bit and she said, "You're overweight, let me refer you to a nutritionist and start exercising", and I'm all, "well actually..." She was totally for it. Thought it was a great idea. If you get shot down again, try another doctor but do see if you have comorbities too as that should help.

Top Weight? Goal Weight?
milkD replied to zebrasprinkles's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Highest was 283. Surgery was 255. I picked 140 as my goal weight because at 5'3 that's the weight I would be considered normal. I'd be ok with around 160 though. -
I had the same thing. Got tired of eating alone so went to sit with coworkers with my small bowl of chili. I felt really awkward eating so little so I ate too fast. I'm not going to try that again till I feel more comfortable with my purées. Hang in there. I know it will get easier.

What Do I Need For The Hospital And For The First Week At Home?
milkD replied to Avillias's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I brought and used: Phone charger Chapstick Change of underwear Toothbrush and toothpaste Travel pillow (I held it to my tummy on the car ride home) I had a book which I never felt well enough to read (I did watch some TV) and gas-x strips but I didn't have a problem with gas. I wore the same clothes leaving than when I came in (minus the underwear). I stayed in the hospital gown (which was comfy) and socks they gave me (rubberized). Didn't need or felt like showering. The nurses gave me a sponge bath with these towelettes everyday and they also gave me a toothbrush, paste and comb. Glad I didn't overpack. -
For lunch today our company had sandwiches and I picked apart an egg salad one. I wanted to try a little piece of the bread to see what it was like so I ate 2 tiny bites. Well it's 3.5 hours later and I am still as full as I was right after lunch. It's great but I want to get more Protein and liquids in. No more bites of bread for me for awhile!! I hope I didn't hurt anything either. I would know if food is stuck right? I don't feel uncomfortable, just full.

My Sleeve Experience So Far
milkD replied to sophialou's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Just keep eating right and exercise as much as you can. My surgeon said its very important to exercise now because you lose the most the first 6 months. -
Congratulations on the beginning of your journey. I know you can handle it and will pass with flying colors.

Water Wait Gain
milkD replied to Tanisha Nolen Sanyang's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Thank you for reminding us that your weight can fluctuate and to never worry too much day to day. It is very true. For everybody else I would never suggest taking water pills. A very good friend of mine used to take them to keep her weight down and now she is no longer with us. Dangerous stuff when not medically supervised. -
The Premier Protein shakes are my favorite too. Second would be Syntrax Nectar in Cappuccino flavor mixed with skim milk. Tastes a lot like a latte.

I did egg drop about a week post-op. We buy these packets for about $1.50 from asian markets and even Safeway has them sometimes. You add water to the powder and boil it than add an egg. My husband uses half the packet but a whole egg so I get more protein in. He whisks the egg while it's boiling a lot so the egg pieces are super tiny. It gave me no problems at all!
-
Yeah that looks good. We were sleeved the same day and I can't get in as much yet. I average 300-400 calories a day, 25-30 carbs, 5-10 fat and 45 protein. I need to up my protein, you need around 60-80 a day so that's great you've been reaching it.

Meant to attach a pic of mine.

I've made the cauliflower pizza too. First time turned out great, second not as much because we made it too large. I like it better smaller so the middle of the crust bakes more. Found the recipe just by googling.

I ate a lot of this bread pre-op and will continue to do so after I can have solids again. It tastes less dry and like cardboard than other brands I've tried. Our favorite was to make chicken quesadillas. Another was to lightly toast it, spread a layer of avocado and top with a fried egg. The creaminess of the avocado and egg was divine.

I already picked out a hairstyle I want after I lose a lot of weight. Every time I go to the mall I window shop and decide where I will be shopping when I'm close to goal. It's an outlet mall so it's not too pricey. I already told me husband that in a few months time he'll drop me off there with some money and pick me up hours later. Best day ever!!!!!!

Cant Get In My Protein
milkD replied to traceylynn's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm almost week 2 as well and usually end the day 40-50g of protein. I've been replacing some water with skim milk, no more than 2x a day with 4-ounces. Personally the milk isn't as filling to me to be called a meal but it also has 4g of protein per 4 ounces. -
Is The Pain Worse Than Labor?
milkD replied to Pparrisss's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I thought my c-section was more painful in the first few days but the pain between both is lasting the same length. I'm 10- days pot op and only now feel like I'm getting back to normal and can bend and move normally. I'm slower to recover though. -
I had this too. Even a tiny sip and I would feel gurgling and bubbles going up and down my throat and stomach. Now 9 days post-op it's not as bad. Only happens if I sip too fast. I still feel it but the feeling isn't as intense. Noise is still there!
