Hi- New To This Site- Really Depressed
soccermomx2 replied to hopeful77's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
You know the Protein drinks counts toward your daily liquid total. It doesn't just have to be Water. Do you only get the filmy taste in your mouth with that one drink? If not, it is most likely that you are in ketosis.....which is a good thing....it means your body is burning fat. You are doing great...when I was 6 weeks it still took me almost 2 hrs to drink one 11 oz Protein shake. I love the RTD Premier chocolate shakes (30 g protein) from costco. Just keep at it....everyday gets a little easier!!!! You are doing great!!!! -
IMO, I feel she overstepped her boundaries. She is there to guide you with dietary issues not your time management. My surgeon's office also has a NUT inside their office that I had to see for 3 months pre-op & I choose to see her at every appt to follow-up. Even though they work as a team it is ultimately up to the dr & insurance. I would make an appt to speak to the dr. Also, I would find out from the insurance coordinator at their office about if they have submitted your paperwork. Also, I find it hypocritical of her to judge you for taking steps to get healthy. She should be encouraging you and helping you come up with a plan to be successful NOT belittling and being destructive. You can also call your insurance company to verify whether you have other options. I wouldn't take the dr office word.

I Have A Question...
soccermomx2 replied to jennaayyy03's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
For my surgeon, we had a mandatory information class the week before surgery. They went over everything pre & post op as well as giving us a binder full of do's and don'ts, food lists for each step, etc. Also, the NUT came in & spoke about Vitamins, Protein options, etc. It is a great book & I still use it to reference even at 3.5 months out. I would make a list of questions you have and ask your surgeon. A good doctor is more then happy to answer all questions. Perhaps you will have an info session pre op too. Wishing you the best for your upcoming surgery & a speedy recovery!!! -

Period After Surgery
soccermomx2 replied to norozco's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
TOM = time of month I too did not have a period the first month, had it month 2 and no signs of one now in month 3. Dr said it is very common to have an irregular cycle due to hormones & weight loss (like Iggy mentioned). At first I was worried and then thought I could handle only having it every other month ;-} -
Sleeping After Surgery?
soccermomx2 replied to iggychic's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm doing exercise & weight training on a regular schedule. What exercise are you doing? Maybe I should switch it up. I was starting to think it was due to the time of year ;-} -
Sleeping After Surgery?
soccermomx2 replied to iggychic's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Lol...too funny. I love the skinny part....not so thrilled with the dark circles. Anyone else having issues with their energy levels? I'm 3.5 months out and some days are a challenge to keep going. -
Sleeping After Surgery?
soccermomx2 replied to iggychic's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I too have issues sleeping...at first I couldn't sleep at all. Now I get tired so easy but still have trouble sleeping. I'm hoping it's a post op side effect that will pass. I'm going to talk to dr & NUT about it in 2 weeks for my 4th month checkup. Here's to wishing both of us more sleep!!! -
I'm 3.5 mths out and not losing tons of hair but thinner then before. I take daily: ~ 2 multi-vitamins (1am & 1 pm) ~ 1 B complex ~ 3 Calcium chews (Costco brand - 1am, 1 noon, 1pm)....I had hard time with the calcium citrate pills I take monthly: ~ 1 B12 injection (in place of the weekly sublingual pill) Also make sure Protein is between 60-90 g daily. My nails have never been stronger!!!

Congrats!!! I totally agree with finding it hard at first to get your liquids in. Your Protein shakes do count towards your 64 oz liquid goal. But whatever works best for you to stay hydrated is great. I too didn't have much gas pain...just the big incision bothered me. It sounds like your recovery is going great...keep up the good work and get a lot of rest.

soccermomx2 replied to healthiermom's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Best of luck to you both. Just remember this journey is a marathon not a sprint & take care of yourself post-op. You both will do great!! Welcome to the loser's bench!! -
Pre-Made Wild Salmon Patties From Sam's
soccermomx2 replied to Feeling Free's topic in Soft (stage 3)
I had bought the Mahi Mahi pre- sized portions at Sam's & they were gross...couldn't even eat a whole bite. I talked to my NUT about it & she said that frozen fish like that tends to not be very good & to buy fresh instead. Maybe you could find someone that likes them & give them away. I know they are expensive but why waste a meal on something that you don't like. ;-} -
I use Centrum chewables and they work great.

Sharp Pains In Left Shoulder And Left Aide Of Tummy
soccermomx2 replied to dee92's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Glad you called...hope you feel better soon. -
Yes, I inject myself. It is a very simple thing. It doesn't bother me to do it. I figure it is one less Vitamin I have to worry about taking. ;-} We discussed it pre-op but you could discuss it at your next visit. Also, they might let you come to the office for your monthly shot.

Sharp Pains In Left Shoulder And Left Aide Of Tummy
soccermomx2 replied to dee92's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I would give your dr a call tomorrow. The pain in your left side can be the healing of your big incision (at least mine was). As for the shoulder pain, some say that gas can cause that. But to be on the safe side call and speak to the nurse/dr. I called numerous times post op....that is why they are there. Hope you feel better!! -
I take B Complex daily per my plan but also give myself a B12 injection monthly instead of doing the sublingual (also required to take). I already give myself a Humira injection twice a month so what is one more shot! Also, didn't start the B Vitamins until month 2 per my plan. It would be a good thing to discuss your options of B12 with your dr and NUT.

Yes, that furry tongue is how I know I'm doing things right (also the numbers on the scale ;-}). At first it was definitely something to get used to!! You can search on here for ketosis and should find a lot of info on how it works. Burning fat is always good!!!!
