My dr and I used the BMI chart too. I thought once I get to the top of normal BMI I could reevaluate. -

6 months post op- july sleevers
SummersGirl replied to kyzee's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well today is 6 months since my surgery. I have lost 54.6 lbs. Sometimes I get discouraged by the slow loss but then I remind myself I am right on track. I have now lost 60% of my excess weight of 90 lbs which is what is to be expected. What is the expected weight loss after this time period? I don't remember, I'll have to go back and research. It is great to see so much success on this thread -

Anyone using a Fitbit?
SummersGirl replied to Strangefruit's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Can you see the info on a phone app or do you have to use an actual computer? It syncs wirelessly? Doesn't work for cycling? Only measures full flights of stairs? Is it accurate in measuring steps verses actual counted steps? How does it measure calorie burn? Thanks -

Christmas Day Challenge!
SummersGirl replied to AKSleever's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well I didn't make my Christmas goal. I'm quite bummed about it. My goal was 6 pounds for the 5 weeks before Christmas. I only lost 4. I've been in a stall for 3 weeks now, sigh.... I've given up hope -
Both my dr and my NUT have advised that moderate alcohol is okay (it was a 1-2 month wait). My dr warned me that the alcohol will most likely hit quicker, which it does. The most I ever have is 2 drinks maybe twice a month. I find I get a buzz quick and it goes away quick. But my NUT is a nut in that she is always trying to up my carbs and I don't skimp on them as it is (or not as much as some people here). I choose to listen to my dr when they give me conflicting information.

I'm glad you asked as I have been feeling some similar things. Crazy hormones when PMSing I never saw your original post. Sorry. Is there another support forum out there? I'll have to hunt around.

I was the same at that stage (I'm 5 months out now) and could hardly drink water. I lived on Popsicles and yoghurt for the first while. Then graduated to string cheese, and on and on. I never did the protein shakes as they make me throw up and that really hurt! I get my protein in now and can drink water normally. It'll come around for you too -
Christmas Day Challenge!
SummersGirl replied to AKSleever's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Current weight: 175.2 3.2 to go I lose about 1.5 per week, so I should reach goal. If I stay away from the Christmas baking that is. -
Wait Time In Canada?
SummersGirl replied to TAB2012's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
In Alberta it's just over a year (15 months according to a friend who had it here) but there are also so many hoops to jump a well. It seems that part might be the same in the US. Mexico didn't have hoops, that's why I went there. -
Mourning Coffee..why No Cafeine?
SummersGirl replied to soccermom1's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Both my dr and nut have no issues with coffee as long as in moderation. But I'm further out and passed the healing stage. Have a good morning anyway -

Anyone Heard Of... The Cottage Cheese Test?
SummersGirl replied to TheSkinnyCow73's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well I just read about this so I thought I'd try it. I am always worried I can eat too much. Well, I would say mine is average. I ate 6 oz in about 8 min and am stuffed! Like feel yucky cause I'm too stuffed. I know it's supposed to be 5 min due to emptying. So if 5.5 is the average, I'm happy I'm average But I can eat more than this depending on what it is. Probably because oatmeal (my daily breakfast recommended by my NUT) is warm and thinner (than cottage cheese) and starts to empty. But I am just so relieved my sleeve is "normal" -

Use Your First Six Months Wisely
SummersGirl replied to june13sleever's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Wow! Walk a mile in someone's shoes before you judge them. As for the question if I have done research, yes I have. One thing I can tell you is that information is consistently inconsistent. Even between my dr and my nutritionist, I get different info. Too much bullying in this world. What else is there to say. Actually a lot, but I won't stoop that low.
