  1. I have been going through all the requirements for months and last week I got the okay from my insurance company and received a surgery date from my surgeon. So many emotions and feelings. Excited, anxious, frightened, happy, sad and all while being confident in my decision. Im not afraid of the discomfort or hard work ahead, but terrified of the worst case scenario's they keep telling me. Im a mother of two small children (2 and 4) and am so worried. I know everyone feels this way, but I don't want to back out from fear. Anyone else feeling like that or having surgery in July like me??? Would love to have some peeps to talk with along the way....
  2. When I went to an I formative seminar on all weight loss surgery options, the surgeon was so obviously pushing the RNY (his specialty) that it actually made look harder at all the others. He actually said " why would you go with anything but the RNY, it's the proven golden standard". Needless to say never go with a surgeon who is so obviously biased to one or the other. My surgeon was well educated and experienced with ALL procedures and was very involved in discussing the options of all. There are some people for whom the sleeve is not the best choice and the RNY is a better choice. A good doctor will explore all options depending on your health factors. I am 13 days post op and have had very little complications. This is not an EASY out no matter what the surgery. I just suggest doing your own research on anything you elect to have done to your body. Don't let anyone push you in one direction.
  3. Sorry if I put these replies in the wrong place. I'm a novice at these forums and answering. I am 5 days post op and am feeling ok. It's up and down, but for The most part I feel okay. I am religious wih the pain meds though. Without them I feel a lot of pain. I too have a lot of gas in my belly and just general uncomfortable belly pressure. Yesterday I had my first bout of real nausea since the hospital. I couldn't figur out what caused it. R you taking your pain meds. Your doc should be able to give you some anti gas and bloating meds if too painful. I am also very weak from so little food. I am having trouble ( as I believe everyone does) getting ALL the fluids, proteins, vitamins and meds in. I feel constantly full. Hope it gets better quickly for us all :-)
  4. Sorry, I'm a novice at posting, I never know
  5. I think any parent feels the same way. I was a mess the night before and opted to kiss them farewell in their sleep because if I woke them up I feared I would never leave for the hospital. I feel it is better to tell them something, especially the older ones who can understand. I think I have written this befor, but I have told my just 4 and nearly 2 yr old that I had a surgery to fix my tummy. My mother had her hip replaced two weeks prior to my surgery, so we had a good practice talking about the hospital and seeing pics of Grammy in the hospital bed etc. They have been concerned for my boo boo's but we have talked about it enough as not to scare them. They ask to see my inscisions everyday and they note the progress in healing. I know I made the right decision for all of us and I am glad they have learned a little about the hospital, healing, compassion and care taking along the way.
  6. Yesterday was my big day. Hope everyone else who were on the same day are doing well. Surgery went smooth for me. Dr. said my liver was nice and small from preop liquid diet (lost 12 lbs in 2 weeks). Came out of anesthesia and wasn't in any real pain, but my throat was soooooo sore and dry and they couldn't give me anything to drink because I kept dozing off. Once fully awake the ice chips tasted like Heaven. Not a lot of pain anywhere thanks to the pan pump, but I could not shake the nausea so they kept Me another night ( was supposed to go home the am following surgery). Finally found the combination of meds for the nausea and today am pretty darn comfortable. No trouble drinking fluids, getting up and down, walking around etc. The intense nausea from day one was pretty terrible... not gonna lie... It really Sucked! Not having much gas pain either. Husbnd brought the kids to visit today and was feeling pretty normal. Hope everyone else who had surgery yesterday and today is feeling good. Finally on to excited now that I've passed through frightened. Have had chicken broth, sf hello, sf juices and sf Popsicles and am not physically hungry. Luck and love to all you July Sleevers.
  7. Tomorrow is the day. Will post as soon as I feel up to it. Incredibly emotional and frightened. Trying to keep my head positive. Found out I'm 100% covered and can't believe it. Another sign this is the right thing. Good night!

    I'm Losing It!

Good job! I had my pre op- early registration apt this afternoon too. I'm Monday at 10:30. Can't believe it's here. Good luck Monday & safe healing to you.
  9. The vitamins, calcium and pain reliever are either chewable or liquid. But the anti nausea, anti reflux, anti Gaul stones? Plus my normal Bp, thyroid, Bc and anti depress are not liquid. I'll have to call tomorrow.
  10. It just seems like all these pills and vitamins will be hard to keep down and I already hate pills too. I had to do an upper Gi and drink all that stuff, I couldnt stop gagging, I'm a wus when it comes to taking things. Also, they ordered me liquid pain reliever and I'm thinking " why do I need liquid pain med when I'm gonna be taking 10 pills a day, what's another pill ?" anyone know why the liquid pain med?
  11. Congratulations to you let's do this. Thank you for the update, makes me a littles nervous for Monday July 9 ( same as u nustyle). Have had such a struggle with liquid diet. How are you able to swallow pills? They keep adding pills to my plan and I already take a few normally. Now adding the pain meds, anti stone, prilosec and anti nausea I'm looking at close 10 pills.... That's kinda freaking me out. Anyone else worried about swallowing pills after???
  12. Good luck tomorrow. What a blessing to have hubby to go through the transition with you.
  13. Good luck! I'm getting less worried seeing all the other mama's making the same choice, choosing a better life for themselves and their babies. I've told mine "the doctor is going to fix my tummy, so it works better"
