I forgot to include putting on hose without hyperventilating and having them all twisted and tight around my legs, and CROSSING MY LEGS!!!!! -
What Do You Want To Do When You Are Healthier?
dar1983 replied to Shape_Shifter's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Wow. Where to start? Although we have an active social life, and I take pride in wearing nice clothes, there are ALOT of milestones I can't wait to reach: ***Go to a store, and not have to take the elevator downstairs to the fat section, which is always near the kitchen and bedding section. ***go to a Yankee game and sit comfortably in my seat...not upright, pretending to have perfect posture, when I'm really just trying to not to spill over into the other seats! ***Go shopping with a friend. What fun is shopping together when you are "floors apart" and you don't want to ask them to check for the 3x tops while you are in the fitting room~ ***if necessary, sharing a two-seater on my commuter train without holding my breath and getting numb from sucking my arms in! ***Yeah, those knee-high boots are on the list ***wrapping a bath towel around my body, and having the ends meet ***Having the tray table on the plane actually fold down all the way, and not risking spilling my drink which is always at a precarious angle! ***getting back to the dance studio and taking ballet barre classes. I took ballet for 15 years, and the thought of getting back to the barre at age 52, makes me weep. ***LIVING LIFE WITHOUT PHYSICAL BOUNDARIES! -

Most Humiliating Fat Moment
dar1983 replied to peacequeen's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Reading these stories, am reminded of how nasty humans can be. Obesity is one of those "things" that people feel they can comment on without recourse. Race, sexuality and weight were always topics that were openly targeted. We've (seemingly) reached a higher degree of sensitivity with regard to race. In the last couple of years, gay men and women have begun to (again, seemingly) enjoy basic human rights without the disgust often associated with them. But if you're 'heavy' 'overweight', or god forbid, 'obese'...there is no safe haven. People honestly feel it is their RIGHT to comment at-will on YOUR body! I will not be a hypocrite and say I have not silently commented on someone bigger than myself (misery loves company), but I would NEVER openly poke fun, criticize or comment to their face! It is astounding how mean and calculated some family can be. Anyone who would demean another at a family gathering (or anywhere) are dirtbags. Plain and simple. UGH! This topic makes my blood boil! Now, to answer your initial question: As a train commuter, I am ALWAYS aware of my seating options. If there are only spots left in a 2-seater, I will opt to stand...possibly an entire hour, rather than risk offending someone if I dare to go over the line by even a centimeter. I will use these stories as motivation. -
At Home Exercise Ideas?
dar1983 replied to HadToDoIt40's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You're a few months ahead of me, but I already plan to purchase an elliptical bike. It's sort of a cross between an exercise bike and an elliptical machine. You work your legs, and get a great cardio workout. have you tried adding weights to your exercise regime? Regular hand weights while on the treadmill will intensify your workout. Perhaps a zumba video, or some other cardio workout video can add both fun and results to your routine. Good luck! -
16 Months Post Op With Pic

One of THE best Before and After photos I've seen posted! As others have said, what an inspiration. I am trying to wrap my brain around the day I will be in single-digit clothing. I am exactly one week post-op and down 8lbs. When I get to your point, I, too, will have an expensive new habit...shopping! Congratulations on your hard work and success! (BTW: If having to wear Spanx makes you look like that, I'm ready to buy stock in the company!) -
Beat Me, Beat Me, Ooh Yeah Right There

Absolutely! Tonight I was in absolute hell after trying to eat ground beef. After nearly 2 oz, I had pains worse than labor contractions. Two hours of sheer agony ensued. Twords the end, hubby was ' burping' me as I cried, and vowed to never eat solid food again! 5 days post-op -
It really is no one's business unless you choose to tell them! I have told a few people at work (I work in a school), and the rest....

I was sleeved on July 3, 2012, and glad to have gone through with it. I constantly dream about life as a "thin(ner) person". It it almost inconceivable to think I WILL be wearing sizes, and weighing amounts I can't even remember! I am certainly looking foward to the journey!

I had my surgery on July 3rd, and home on the 4th. So far, other than a particularly nasty bout of gas, no need for pain meds. In fact, I never even filled the prescription! As many have already said, the biggest problem thus far, has been trying to get the liquids down. Who knew Water could burn??!! It has been 90+ degrees here in NY, and all I want to do is chug some icy cold water....a no-no. Today,I had a semi-frozen chocolate Protein shake( with black, decaf coffee added) and it was delicious. I was actually able to drink 120z....woo hooo!
