I paid about 1300 out of pocket as well. The procedure was between 10-12,000

Sounds like you're now chewing your food up until it's liquid consistency. I know for me things only get stuck with I gulp.

Those Recently Banded: Whats Ur First Short Term Goal?
LoozQuoils replied to sylviau's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My short-term goal is to stop eating! LOL! I suck at my diet but I've been able to maintain about a 20lb weight loss since I was banded on May 25th. Everyday is a challenge and I take it one day at a time. I'll be getting a second fill the end of this month. -
1St Fill Not So Good Plus A Question
LoozQuoils replied to Mlivingston04's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I didn't have a good first fill either but they did use a numbing agent so for your next fill be sure to ask for some or refuse to have it done because it is uncomfortable. I really came close to never getting fills again but that's not going to help me to lose weight with the band so I've come around. They mistoke my scar tissue for the port and jabbed me well over 15 times until another nurse came in and found it. She also let me know where the port was for future reference and I'm hoping that will help with the second fill that I'm having later this month. Please don't be discouraged and with the band in place you could also see another bariatric surgeon if the one you have doesn't make your comfortable. I dislike my doctor but his nursing staff is awesome so I only deal with him when necessary. -
Maybe I'm just having a bad moment, but I'm thinking this surgery may have not been the best idea. I don't like eating. I've gotten to the point where when I get hungry I get really angry because I know that what I can eat, I don't want. In any way shape or form. So I'm at the point where I'm just eating to fulfill protein and caloric obligations and there is zero enjoyment doing so. I have no regards for taste, look, color, etc...if it has the right amount of protein then I'll have it. If I don't like the taste I just chug it down just to be down with the whole ordeal. I'm such a sad eater LOL!!

I didn't expect to eat the foods I ate before which is why I don't. The point I'm trying to make is that I don't like to eat the foods that I CAN eat and when I do , I do it because It's necessary and there is no joy in that. As someone stated before eating to live instead of living to eat. It's a very hard transition, especially when a large chunk of your social life revolves around eating. When you go on a date it's usually dinner of some sort. Holiday cookouts, thanksgiving, etc. Like I said before I'm just having a bad moment and I will get through it and I will have to find joy in other things.

I'm only about 6-7 weeks post op and I had one fill of 4cc's. I don't have any problems getting food down but it's just moreso what I can eat, I don't want. It's totally a mental thing. I don't think of meals as enjoyable anymore...it's just necessary now if that makes any sense.

Hungry Every Two Hrs
LoozQuoils replied to f1stborn's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Before I had a fill I ate about a Tablespoon of peanut butter or I would mix a small amount of the peanut butter with a flavored yogurt (Raspberry Chobani) and it was like peanut butter and jelly in a cup. -
I had my first fill yesterday and it was an odd experience. Not painful but a "stab in the dark" type of thing. What was actually scar tissue was thought to be my port so for about 40 minutes, the nurse was poking around my scar tissue and had me lifting my head and legs up every 5 seconds (which is hilarious in hindsight). Finally another nurse came in and found the actual port site and gave me a 4cc fill. Everything is ok now but while I was in the office I had my doubts.
