    Port Problems...worried.

They are always very clean when the do my fills, the clean the area, open packages and syringes, I see them do it right in front of me. I'm not diabetic which is good, not taking any meds to compromise my immune system. They took a culture the other day and gave me a scipt for Bactrim so I am taking that. I'm keeping the dressing changed and using saline wash. Doing eveything in my power to get this sucker to heal. I don't want to lose my band, I have come a long way, 90 lbs. I don't want to gain it back, frankly I'm sacred as hell.

    Port Problems...worried.

I had my band done a little over a year ago on 7/3/2012, last October I developed a lump over my port, which turned into a weeping sore. Well short story is I had developed MRSA and had to have my now infected port removed. I had a new port put in this May and now, I've developed another open wound over my new port. This one doesn't look infected but won't heal and my doctor is worried about it. I am afraid if this little hole won't heal the doctor is going to have to remove my band. Anyone else had a problem like this?

    Restriction Not Happening

Oh..your band will remind you when you are eating too fast. Mine did before they had to remove the fluid. Get distracted and take too big a bite and BOOM...you get that chokey feeling. Luckily I did not throw it back up, but my band does help me to slow down and eat properly. Chew...chew....chew your bites.

    Restriction Not Happening

I have a 14cc band as well and I was up to 7cc's before I felt any kind of restriction at all, I was getting close to my green zone. Unfortunately, I got an bad infection in my port and they had to remove it for the time being, they took all the Fluid out of my band, so now I feel like its not even there. However, keep logging your food and watch what you eat. I'm down 87lbs and don't want to go back, now its a game of will. You will find your green zone....give it time. Oh....great online food tracker... www.myfitnesspal.com, you can download it on a smart phone as well, its a BIG help.

    Infection with my port..

Sorry for the long time to reply...been busy. The stuff coming out of my infection was yellowish and sometimes just bloody. I had my port removed yesterday and though I am a little sore its not too bad. I have an open wound in my stomack now as well, which they are packing, to get it to close from the bottom to the top. Once its all healed up I get to go back as well and get a new port put in. Been a rough couple months, but just a slip on my journey. The good news is....no erosion in my stomach, I still have my band they just removed the port. And at my last weigh in I somehow managed to lose 9 lbs! Down 87lbs down, I will take whatever weigh loss I can get, being such a big guy I have a long way to go. But I WILL get there.

    Infection with my port..

My port is infected as well. Noticed my port area was red and swollen, doc prescribed antibiotics, but they did not help. It got so bad I now have a open wound over my port area, small about the size of a q-tip but its deep and oozy. I go next week to have an endoscopy to check for erosion, they they are going to take out the infected port. Doc said if there is Fluid around the band that might have to come out as well. They had to remove all the fluid from my band so now all my restriction is GONE. I'm stressed and I know I'm eating too much. I've lost 80lbs since July of last year and do not want to gain back weight. Sniff. It took me almost 5 years to finally get the band done now this stupid infection is really throwing a wrench in the whole program. I just hope I have the will power to get thru this.

    Drinking Non-Carbonated Alcohol

Watch how much you drink, I had not been out for like a month and a half, my generous friends kept buying me drinks. I felt it a lot sooner, I slept well that night...lol.

My First Fill Is In Four Days

Same here, got my first fill today .5cc they did numb me up too and I had to drink water to see if was too tight. All around not a painful experience at all!
  11. I am 5 weeks out from my surgery and I was burping like crazy about a week and a half ago, but it seems like it has gone away. The only time I feel 'burpy' is when I first get up in the morning and my tummy is empty.

    Sore/painful Incisions 3 Weeks Out

I am 1 month out today, had my surgery on July 3rd. I was fine up until last week and was pain free, when suddenly I woke up last Monday with a lot of pain in my abdomen. I could not move without it hurting. But its slowly faded over the past week, now I have very little pain. My doc said that I might have overdone it as well and pulled on my internal stitches.
