I'm On The Other Side
MarKing15 replied to ljperez's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Im sorry, I should have clarified. It's not the taste of the Water, its the nausea. After every few sips, my sleeve revolts and convulses. Did anyone experience this? If so, how long did it last? Thanks. -

September 7Th! Who's With Me?
MarKing15 replied to Tekara3927's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I officially have a time now: Friday September 7th at 10:45 am. Let the real countdown begin! Tomorrow begins Clear liquids only. Not looking forward to it, but I know it's only one day and that one day gets me one day closer to my goal. Good luck everyone! -
This is the number one reason I have kept my surgery from family and friends. Other than my wife and a few close friends, no one knows. I didn't want to have to justify myself at every turn or hear constantly what they thought I would never get to do again. I'll make the necessary "I just had surgery" calls to family after my procedure and let my friends know as I see them. Some may be upset, but I can live with that. I've had enough to deal with myself over the last 6 months, I didn't want to add their drama as well. YMMV.

I'm lucky, I will only have one day of a prep diet, two if you count the day of surgery. So, so far so good! -

I Can't Wait To Not Have To...
MarKing15 replied to BrickHouse's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
As a Dad/Guy, here are a few things I can't wait to not have to do: Put off going camping, hiking, fishing, biking and other outdoor activities Not being able to ride amusement park rides with my kids - finally take my son to Magic Mountain! Having to dress 10 years older because that's what fits Worrying about weight limits for furniture and activities Make excuses for not going to the beach Having my size/weight define who I am Worry about hypertension, diabetes and heart disease as a result of my weight -
7 Months Out With Pics
MarKing15 replied to kittenkate's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
You look great and have every reason to brag! You've lost a considerable amount of weight and look ten years younger, smile all you want! Very inspirational, thanks for sharing. -
My Doctor only requires one day of a prep diet, 2 if you want to count the actual day of surgery. I go in next Wednesday for my pre-op paperwork and get all of my post-op diet instructions and start the pre-op diet the following day (Thursday) with surgery that Friday. I've got so much to do, so I hope the time flies! I've never had any kind of surgery before and the only other time I have been sedated was a few weeks ago for my EGD. So I really don't know what to expect or how my body will respond.

Congrats!

What brand and method do you use? I searched and found several brands that are liquid or capsule. Thanks. -

I found out that Dr. Sergey Lyass will be performing my VSG. While he is based in Southern California and I am in Southern Nevada (Las Vegas Area), he apparently travels to LV to perform surgeries twice a month. So, with that said: I would love to hear from those who have had any kind of experience, good, bad or indifferent as it relates to Dr. Lyass. Thanks in advance.

Only 3 Days Of Liquids Only Diet!
MarKing15 replied to scubadottie's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Good for you! I hope it holds up, but I was told that I would only have a 2 day liquid diet. -
Great idea, thanks for sharing. I'm definitely following this topic in hopes of more good ideas.

Losing Before Surgery
MarKing15 replied to SarahG0417's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Chimera gave great advice so I'll just share what I've done over the last 4 months as I too am in my preop phase. I've totally cut out bread, Pasta, rice, potatoes, coffee, sweets (candy/pastries) and all fast/fried food. Essentially I've gone high Protein, low carb and low calorie. I haven't done one second of exercise and to date I've lost 44 pounds. Good luck. -
Thank you all for your input. My wife and I are both having the sleeve done by Dr. Lyass through OBand and we have been trying to soak up and learn as much as we can from those who have as well. We're hoping for a September surgery date and are considering having our surgeries on the same day.

Two more question if you don't mind: 1. Does Dr. Lyass use drains? If so, what was your experience like? 2. Does Dr. Lyass prescribe blood thinner injections post surgery? Thank you.
