    Anyone Getting Banded In July?

I am July 19 as well! THREE MORE DAYS!!
  2. I am going through True Results in Houston as well. Different surgeon though. My surgery is this Thursday (eeeeep!!!). I met with the doctor last week and have my pre-op at the hospital on Wednesday. What part of town are you in? I am in the energy corridor/west Houston.
  3. My doc will let me do about half a cup of fruit a day on pre-op. I am choosing to add it to my shakes. I have had 2 different ones today and they are so tasty. I usually put milk and yogurt in, but my doc doesn't approve dairy on pre-op. I was really, really leery of using Water, but it turned out fine. Pineapple-Cherry-vanilla 12ish oz water 1.5 scoops of vanilla Protein powder 1/4 cup pineapples 2-3 cherries I put a bunch of pre-measured fresh fruit in the freezer last night and use that in place of ice. I blended it up and it was mighty tasty this morning. chocolate Cherry berry 12ish oz water Ice 1.5 scoops of chocolate Protein Powder 2-3 cherries 1/4 cup blueberries Blend it up. Was very good.

    Surprise During Ultrasound

I so thought it was going to be that you were pregnant.
  5. I can have a cup of veggies on my pre-op. I have concluded today that they are going to be made into Soup. I am STARVING. I plan to use my tortellini soup recipe sans the tortellini and Italian sausage. For anyone who wants something to help ward hunger and spread their veggies out, this is what I am doing: Saute one onion and several cloves of garlic until soft. Add in large carton of broth (I use LS organic chicken or veggie broth) Add 1-2 cans of fire roasted tomatoes Bring to a boil for several minutes Add in one bag of spinach and stir until wilted Sprinkle with crushed red pepper if you like a kick I figure this will do a couple of things: -- Broth is ok and it will flavor it up -- A bowl of soup can be mostly broth and half a cup of veggies -- I can have soup at lunch and still have lean Protein and some veggies for dinner. Please post if you have any ideas to help get through the 2 weeks.
  6. I had 2 yesterday (but way too much wine on Tuesday). We can do this. 13.5 more days.

    Last Supper B4 Pre-Op Diet?

We went to Double Dave's pizza yesterday. It was my last hurrah. I started my high protein diet this morning.

    5Th Day Of Liquids Pre-Surgery

I have seen the pre-op diet vary widely from doctor to doctor. My doctor's pre-op diet is 2 Protein shakes a day (powder, Water, fruit if you want, sugar free pudding if you want). Then a meal of lean meat and veggies for dinner. I start it on Thursday. My surgery date is July 19.

    2 Week Diet

Have you tried adding stuff to the Protein drinks? I like to add blueberries, cherries and pineapple to vanilla Protein powder. My docs office said no dairy or yogurt, but that I could add sugar free pudding. It makes for a really good smoothie. I can't even taste the protein. I do similar with chocolate protein powder - I just nix the pineapples. It is mighty tasty.

    Dr Hollis Surgery Days.

Apparently I don't have an EGD ordered? I just talked to True Results and it is not in my paperwork. We are verifying with the doctor's office. Can it just be July 20 already? This scheduling/testing is making me neurotic.
  14. Can someone tell me what to expect with the EGD? Will I be able to come back to work? Do I need someone to drive me?

I made a mistake - my EGD is the day before. Surgery is actually on the 19th. Sorry!

    Howdy

Houston here! I see Dr. Speigel's signs every day when I come to work. Congrats on your surgery!

    Dr Hollis Surgery Days.

A little meltdown can go a long way sometimes! Maybe we will see each other at the hospital. Mine is at 7:30 a.m. My pre-op is the 18th. Surgery and EGD are the 19th. I can't just change doctors though. I would have to be resubmitted and it was a nightmare to get approved. I don't want to take a chance of being denied. My fills will be with TR, so just a few more weeks and I will be done with the main part of dealing with them. Yay. Wooty Woo!

I think my little episode on Monday may have helped. I am scheduled, the nutritionist has called and the girl at the front who is supposed to give me $$ info called me sweetheart (ha). I don't have an email on me, but I will send it when I get to work. Have you done your patient portal info?

    Get To Know You Poll

I live in Houston, Tx. I am from Corpus Christi, Texas, but I have been in Houston for 16 years. My surgery is July 19. TWENTY TWO DAYS AWAY!!! What excites me most? Um...being thinner (err...healthier), being able to have relations with the lights on (maybe), breaking up with Lane Bryant, not hearing that damned but you have such a pretty face bs anymore. What scares me the most? Other than that I will die during surgery, um, I am pretty scared of not being able to eat tortillas again. I live in Texas for crying out loud - they are a staple.
  20. I am in Houston, but on the West side. Can I still play?

    Dr Hollis Surgery Days.

I am STILL waiting to find out my portion. My max OOP is $2500 and I have about $2300 left of that. The lady at True Results said my part should be around $1800, but the doc's office would tell me for sure. I finally called the doc's office on Monday and basically had a nervous breakdown about not having a schedule even though I kept getting told I was going to be called "tomorrow". I know they are busy and I don't want to be "that patient", but I was going nuts and taking way too many anxiety pills because of the lack of schedule (see blog for more details - ha). I got my email from J (the scheduler) and I am trying to find the webinar I am supposed to watch before surgery. This whole process is making me crazy. I take it you live in Houston? What part of town? Is there a bandster group here? I would love to be able to meet up with other bandsters as a support group!

    Time Off?

My surgery is on a Thursday, I am going back to work on Monday. I have a pretty high pain tolerance. I had a c-section and within 2 days, I was doing a heck of a lot more than I should have been doing with no issues. I am thinking since this is not nearly as invasive as a c-section, I should be ok with 4 recovery days and then coming back to my desk job.

    Dr Hollis Surgery Days.

He is doing my surgery on Thursday, July 19. Anyone else feel like you are just drifting at sea waiting on his office to call with information on scheduling, fees, etc?
  24. ...I am a woman of wealth and taste. Ok, not really. However, I have been overweight for a long, long time. I am also not necessarily a Rolling Stones fan, but I do like that song. Ah, so now that we have that out of the way, here is my intro: I am married. I have 2 incredibly awesome (and freaking hilarious) kids (3 and 4 years old). I work full-time - sitting on my butt at a desk. I like to read. I like internet forums. I like to spend time with my friends and family. I am an extrovert - more so when I am consuming copious amounts of wine. I also like beer, but tend to avoid that because it makes me feel fatter than I already am. I love to cook and tend to cook healthy stuff. I love love love to entertain and have parties. I am fat. My husband lies and says I am not, but we all know he is lying. It isn't that I don't know how to eat right or that I don't like to work out, I do both of those things. But...I don't do them enough or consistently. I have battled the scale for too many years. Too many. I was in the 230s in high school. I was in the 140s/150s in college (at least for a couple of years). Then I was in the 180s. Then it was the 200s. Then the 230s. Then I got engaged and did crazy diets and got back to the 170s. I got married, I had lots of miscarriages and shot into the 250s. I had 2 kids and hovered. Then I weighed 270 at my doctor's office. It freaked me out a lot. I got denied for WLS a few times. Then I got really pissed off and started doing the right things. I lost about 30 pounds, but then the scale just freaking stalled. Cue the phone ringing and my place asking if they could resubmit me. I said ok, but I will just get denied again. A few weeks later the phone rang again and I was notified that I was approved. SOOOO...here I sit. I am approved. I meet with my doc in 13 days. I have surgery in 23 days (July 19)!!! I am so freaking excited. I also started a bloggity blog. I plan to write about my WLS adventure, my kids, the weather, whatever strikes me at the moment. I suck at blogging, but I am hoping I can stick with it this time. If you have read this far, you are a saint.
