I was sleeved on the 26th, and everything is going absolutely awesome right now. Was just curious when you all started counting your loss? Pre op weight was 342, and post op 3 days later I'm 334.

so I'm just wondering ...i am only 1 week out and a very upset tummy to anything so far. will we sleever eat any fat food without getting sick?
mark! replied to alexis101sleeved's topic in Food and Nutrition
I was told the same thing, clear liquids first week, full solids the 2nd and 3rd week then pureed afterwards. -
Hey, can I be on my puree food phase at least already? Man. I'm not hungry for the old junk, but what I wouldn't give for some chicken salad, a leafy green salad, or some good steak right about now.

Sleeved wednesday - home today!
mark! replied to cj6444's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
For me, breathing slowly with the hiccups stops them. My breathing gets real shaky and all, but after a few deep breaths, they're gone. For pills, I'm using a pill crusher since I can't have applesauce for another 2 weeks. I just crush them up, put them in a medicine cup, toss em in my mouth and take a small sip of crystal light. It's not the most pleasant way of doing it, but it gets the job done. -
Awesome stuff man!

When to start counting a loss
mark! replied to mark!'s topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks everyone, and I do plan on doing measurements each week. My pre op weight was from 2007, so it's been up and down, etc. I just chose to use 464 because it's where I started from, a long long time ago. -
I have 1 week clear, 2 weeks full, and then 2 weeks pureed foods, which I already know mashed potatos will rule those 2 weeks for certain.

Can i just tell my job that I'm having an emergency appendectomy?
mark! replied to MK1986's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If you work in the US, you don't have to tell them anything other than medical procedure. If they poke and prod, inform them they're in violation of hepa laws and that whatever procedure you're having will not effect your work ability. -
Just home from the hospital, And I have a question...
mark! replied to paula512's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Yeah, my nurse told me that once I get home, if my eyesight isn't like it was, don't go rushing to the eye doctor, just give it a few days to clear out. -
Congrats!! Glad things went well for you too. Only issues I had was high BP and HR, but now that I'm home away from the hospital, I'm doing good on both fronts.
-
Tomorrow is my day. The hospital called me, and told me that my time had been moved up and that I needed to show up at 5am instead of 6:30am, kind of curious what that's about. I'm excited and nervous at the same. I'm all packed and ready to go, not sure if I'll be able to sleep or not tonight, haha, but I'll be ready none the less. I'll post a few updates today as things progress.

Anyone have any idea on how many showers or how long I can sit in one? A cold shower sounds amazing right now.
-
Thanks. I'm surprised at how easy things have gone so far. Some minor pain and discomfort, but all else is well. I was dry heaving in the hospital after they gave me pain shots, after telling them my pain was minute and I didn't need a shot, but oh well. I took my shower today, got my bandages off. Looks pretty cool, haha. No red marks, one of the cuts is a little swollen, the big one, but no red marks or anything of that nature. Trying to get in a little protein with my water now.
-
I'm pretty sure it is. I don't have that around my PCP, he's really relaxed and cool about things so it's easy to relax around him. Yeah, it's the only one that is a little sore. The others feel fine. It's not hard getting up and down, or walking, but hurts if I move a certain way. I've been sitting here sipping Crystal Light and water, seems like I'm still so thirsty I want to chug a gallon of water already. But, I'll hold out, sipping my little few ounces here and there.
-
Yeah ot was high in pre op and it was also high at my stress test. But everytime I check it at home its fine.
-
I'm home now. Bp and Hr were still a bit high but I feel really good except for the insension they used for my stomach. It's a bit sore.
-
My bp and heart rate are up, so I'm on bp meds. I've been able to sleep decently, walking a lot and sipping water. So far things are great. Just mild soreness in the abs.
-
Thanks again all. I'm IV'd up. Number 1 for the Dr today.
-
Good luck everyone getting sleeved today. Im all checked in and waiting to go to pre op.
-
Just got checked in at the hospital. So far so good. Just doing some waiting around now.

Contrast Showers FTW!!! Hottest Water you can stand for 30 seconds, ice cold water for 30 seconds, do that for about 4 or 5 sessions at the end of your shower. It will help with circulation and forcing blood back in to your muscles. http://articles.elitefts.com/training-articles/rehabilitation/power-shower/ Also, something that's helped a few guys we train with is negative reps. It would be something like, on dumbbell presses, pressing the dumbbell and then lowering slowly until at the bottom, then pressing, lowering slowly, etc. Are you doing any overhead pressing or work? I'd stop, that's just me. I only work overhead when I'm getting ready for a strongman competition and it's in the events, other then that, it's only brought me pain and suffering, studies show the risk far outweighs the gain from any overhead work. You've also got to take in to consideration, you just started lifting, your delayed onset muscle soreness (DOMS) will be greater since you're just starting out.

Getting ready.. TODAY IS MY DAY!
mark! replied to babygirl_sandy's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Congrats, good luck, and prayers your way lovely. -
I really like the slim fast protein drinks. I'll be purchasing those suckers for my post op for sure.
-
I'm telling everyone who asks about it, so far everyone has been supportive of my decision. A female I work with who had the sleeve said people tend to take it better from guys having the surgery vs women for some reason.
-
I'm taking my chance and running with it. I'm getting sleeved Tuesday as well. I've been able to lose weight in the past, but like you, I put it back on. I'm tired of the struggle, I'm checking in to something that's going to give me proven results long term.
