    Confused, upset

When I was on week 2 I was on full fluids. My surgeon gave me the following guidelines to follow: Week 1 - Clear Fluids Week 2 - Full Fluids Week 3 - Mushie / pureed foods Weed 4 - "Normal" Solid foods I would check with your surgeon's office to see if they have a sample menu you can follow. Confused, upset

Hi.. don't beat yourself up... do the best you can. Were you not given a suggested menu plan to follow? If you have access to a nutritionist try and make an appointment to see them... also try and keep a food journal. Tom, Toronto Banded July 6 06 Wt. Loss: 156 lbs

    Tightness in the mornings

I'm going into my 7th year of being banded... out of the 7 days of the week my band may be tight 3 of 7 days in the morning when I wake up... but not always. I can go weeks or months with no tightness. When I do have mornings that I am tight I have a fews sips warm coffee or tea and wait about 10 minutes... this does the trick for me then i can eat my breakfast with no issues at all. Wow... mushy foods the first week. The acid in the apple juice might be hard on your stomach big cheese. Tom, Toronto Banded July 6 06 Wt. Loss: 156 lbs
  10. I only used Protein shakes for 2 weeks following my surgery. I liked the shakes for costco. My doctor said it was better to eat your protein than to drink it... better for your metabolism. Tom, Toronto Banded July 6 06 Wt. Loss: 156 lbs

    Help!!!

Hi Hang in there the feeling will pass. I don't think you should have had the soup. Most doctor say Clear Liquids for a full week following surgery but each doctor is different. I had to follow a four week plan Post-op plan... I really stuck to my menu plan... I was afraid to change it Don't over do it with exercise... remember you had surgery you need time to heal.. It will get better!!! Tom, Toronto Banded July 6 06 Wt. Loss: 156 lbs
  12. I'm going into my 7th year and no issues at all.. I'm actually below goal. I still get weighed in every month with my family doctor. Tom, Toronto Banded July 6 06 Wt Loss: 156 lbs
  13. Nenny... I just sent you a private message. Tom
  14. Anyone I've met at my coffee groups have always raved about the staff at Smartshape and the follow-up care they have received. Tom, Toronto Banded July 6 06 Wt. Loss: 156 lbs
  15. That is something you would have to discuss with Dr. C. It would be worth a phone call. I'm sure he would answer all your questions... you don't know if you don't ask. Tom, Toronto Banded July 6 06 Wt. Loss: 156 lbs
  16. This is my opinion... but if you have no other options and no one else to help he can't do it for free. No one is saying you have to call him... he's just making the offer. If I were in this situation I would be thankful there was someone willing to help. Tom, Toronto Banded July 6 06 Wt. Loss; 156 lbs

    CIbo clinic

I received the following e-mail from Dr. Cobourn today and he asked me post it on his behalf. Tom, Toronto Banded July 6 06 Wt. Loss: 156 lbs Hi Tom: We had a meeting at the clinic today and we have come up with the following option for CIBO patients. We will offer them the opportunity to join our follow up program which includes: Initial assessment/consultation with Dr. Cobourn either in person or on the phone Counseling with our team of nurses, coaches and dietitians via email, telephone or in person as necessary Band adjustments as necessary Band adjustments can be performed at our facilities in Mississauga or Downtown Toronto, and with our affiliates across the country Radiologic or endoscopic evaluation as necessary 24/7 access to one of our surgeons if there are concerns or worries after hours Access to weekly webinars by our nurses and dietitian Access to Lap Band Connect – an extensive online support forum for Lap Band patients Access to this comprehensive program is offered to CIBO patients at the cost of $1000 per year and can be renewed annually as the patient wishes. We are not able to offer a fee for individual adjustments because our philosophy of care is that the highest quality Lap Band care is more extensive than simple band adjustments. There was a great deal of empathy for the situation of these patients that are not able to access a follow up program that they have paid for. However there needs to be an understanding that there are real costs associated with the delivery of this extensive follow up and we cannot offer this program without additional cost to the patient. We understand that additional costs may be a burden for these patients and have modified or usual access fee for the CIBO patients. It is important to understand that access to the follow up program does not include the cost of any revision surgery that may be necessary. Revision surgery may include port fixation or placement, as well as band repositioning, replacement or removal. We will develop a schedule of costs for these revision procedures. Please feel free to post this information on the Message Forums that you have access to. You know the quality of the follow up that we provide and we think this is a fair and reasonable option for these patients. SWLC is well known for the quality of care we provide and all patients who join our program will have full access to the post op care we provide to our patients. We want to assure the CIBO patients that we are here to help them if they are interested in our program. 21. I started by posting a ad in my local community newspaper under free "Community Events". Where I live there are 7 different newspapers run by the same company. I was lucky enough to make a great contact with a guy. I told him what I wanted to do... wrote out a small ad and I email it to him every month as a reminder... it worked out GREAT. I've also put out flyers in my doctors office, library and grocery store... anywhere that has a Community Events Listing. I put my email address if people want information. I host the groups in a local coffee shop... they let me reserve a table for groups from any size 6 to 22 people... everyone has been very accommodating. I host 3 different groups a month in various areas. Tom, Toronto Banded July 6 06 Wt. Loss: 156 lbs

    Silly ? Regarding caffeine

My doctor said coffee and tea were fine. I drink 2 cups of coffee per day with cream and 1 cup of tea. Sometimes if I go out with friends I may have extra coffee. I still use cream because I use skim milk in everything else and it's my treat but when I was losing I did keep track of it on my food journal. Tom, Toronto Banded July 6 06 Wt. Loss: 156 lbs

    Advice on losing more weight

I would suggest you increase your Protein. When I plateaued I snacked on chucks of cold turkey with a light dip... love turkey... it really helped boost my metabolism. Many people in my coffee group have also done this and have found it very beneficial. Tom, Toronto Banded July 6 06 Wt. Loss: 156 lbs
