Any pre-op / post-op sleevers from Hudson Valley NY area?
thenerd replied to Velveteen's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hi guys! I have done all my pre-op stuff but I'm a teacher so I won't be having surgery until June. Dr. Maffei is doing my surgery at Putnam Hospital. I'm from East Fishkill. -
Almost half way to goal! - Pics included

Way to go!!! You look fantastic and you have an awesome attitude!! -
Absolutely!! Some of them are Vitamins specifically for RNY patients, some are extra Iron pills, there are a bunch of different types of calcium. In the end, my NUT wants me on a Multivitamin that contains iron, additional iron, and calcium. I was able to find the items I needed based on that. I hope this helps!!!

What did your NUT say? Maybe I can help you figure it out.
-
Have you met with your NUT yet? He or she should tell you what to take. I also ordered the Celebrate sample pack. I went to their site to figure out what was what!! One thing I did was sort them by type (you have multiple flavors of the same item) and I kept track of the flavors I liked so that I would know what to order.

Looking good!!! Congrats

Yes! A blog would be great!!! Snark is like a second language for me, which might be why I appreciate you so much! It didn't make things very easy when I taught second grade but my high school students certainly seem to enjoy it!

OMG!!! Gustavo, you absolutely crack me up!!! I love reading your posts. Even the really insightful ones are so humorously written!

October Sleevers! Announce Yourselves
thenerd replied to SkinnyMinnie2Be's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hey NDN_RN, I would tackle one thing at a time! Trying to make too many changes all at once is likely to leave you feeling frustrated. Like tfazio said, cut back on your soda to begin with. Once you get that under control, you can work on not drinking with meals. I was really worried about this one, but it's actually easier than I expected. I think I built it up in my mind to be some impossible thing!! I still have to work on the chewing myself. That will be my goal for this week. I'll be thinking of you NOT drinking soda while I'm chewing, chewing, chewing! LOL Hope this is helpful -
October Sleevers! Announce Yourselves
thenerd replied to SkinnyMinnie2Be's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hi all! I'm 42, single, and a high school librarian. I don't have an exact date yet but we are aiming for mid October. I'll be sleeved at Putnam Hospital (NY) by Dr. Anthony Maffei. Woohoo!!! -
Love love LOVE the new cut!!! You look sexy and confident!!!

Zenoosh You hit the nail on the head...I've finally decided to have surgery because I want to avoid health issues developing. For the longest time I've thought that because my "only" health issue was my weight I shouldn't consider wls. Now that I've watched my parents and older siblings develop all sorts of scary comorbidities and I just don't want to go there. So glad to have this community!!! I'll definitely let you know if I have any further questions.
-
Zenoosh - Thank you SO much for the information!! I can't tell you how much I appreciate it. Makes perfect sense, as I don't have any cardiac issues so I can see why my insurance company would balk at paying for the procedure. You ROCK!!

Hi everyone, I've had my initial consult with my surgeon and we are aiming for a mid-October surgery date. I'm 42 and have been overweight or obese my entire life. I have my cardiology and pulmonary appointments tomorrow and my psych appointment on Tuesday. Then I have my first Nut appointment on Thursday (my doctor requires two). I've been lurking on this site for a couple of months but it's starting to feel real, so I'm wanting to take a more participatory role, if that makes sense. One thing has me bothered...the cardiologist's office called me on Friday to let me know that my insurance wouldn't approve an echocardiogram. They'll do a consult and I'll do the stress test, but they'll have to appeal to insurance after they've seen me to see about getting the echo approved. Anyway, glad to have a "group" to belong to!!

Done! Good luck!
