Does anyone else think the weight machines in a gym look like torture devices?? I'm so thankful I have a PT to tell me what to do on these things. Its so confusing! So proud of myself today for getting in almost 90 mins of cardio in and then worked with my PT on all the weight machines. Feeling tired and sore though so tomorrow will have to be a short day I think.

Revisions?
MKambalimath replied to MKambalimath's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
Wow! I worried a lot about slippage too and something foreign in my body. It was a hard decision between something that shouldn't be there, and then removing most of what SHOULD be there, lol. I'm glad you're going to be able to get your sleeve. Good luck! -
My NUT said that when you toast bread it changes the make up of it so when you chew and swallow it, it doesnt expand like untoasted bread would. I make myself 1/2 a turkey sandwich with cheese and low cal dij mustard on multi grain bread and it was delicious. I wasnt able to eat the last couple bites of it, but it didnt cause me any discomfort and Im 6 weeks out. More than anything what I craved after my surgery was a turkey sandwich so I took the chance and it worked for me.

I still feel that way. When I'm on the treadmill I'm checking out what other people are doing on their machines, lol. I keep looking at the elliptical, but my PT said that can be difficult to use when you first get started so I think I'll stick with what I'm using right now til I get more stamina. Unless theres no one at the gym one day when I'm there, lol. The elliptical seems to be the most popular thing though, theres always a ton of people on them :/

Liking The Gym?!?!?!
MKambalimath replied to MKambalimath's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I dont necessarily LOVE it yet either, lol. But I do love how I feel about myself knowing that I'm still getting up and going you know? Before, I would have NEVER done it. I would have made a million excuses as to why I couldnt, and even though most of them would have been valid, since I weighed 265lbs at 5'4" and my back and knees hurt, yadda yadda, I would have stayed on the couch. Now its almost like, I know I have to do it, and once I get there, I like it -
I was addicted to McDonalds Frappes before my surgery. I ordered a small one a week or 2 ago, and it was terrible. The taste was so off to me. It even left an after taste in my mouth, My husband had a shake from a burger place by us and that too was just terrible to my taste buds. I've found that anything really with sugar doesnt have the same taste to me. I can only hope it stays that way:) I did find some TCBY ice creams at Wal Mart and they are pretty good. There's an ice cream sandwich one I found and one that tastes like an orangecicle. Still, I can only eat 1/4-1/2 of one, but it does satisfy a summer craving for me.

Cold Cold Cold Feet
MKambalimath replied to ShouldBlittler's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi SB...I was originally scheduled to have my sleeve on January 24th. My sister who lives on the West Coast had hers on Jan 20th so we were pretty excited that we were doing it at the same time. As the time got closer and closer, I was freaking out. I couldnt sleep at night and I was so angry, thinking that I was going to have to eat the rest of my life like the post op liquid diet. I was SOOOO hungry. My husband and I went shopping one night and he looked at me and said, you really look like you've lost weight. I had lost about 10lbs on the pre op diet. That was like the straw that broke the camels back. We went out to dinner and I had a steak, loaded baked potato, salad and Pepsi and decided that since I had lost weight without surgery, then I could continue. Umm hmm. Needless to say, by March, I had gained 8 of the 10lbs back. My sister had lost 60lbs by the time I finally had my surgery on April 25th. My surgery went very smoothly, I vomited once when I came out of the anesthesia, and I was VERY sore. For me it felt like Chuck Norris went to town inside me. Getting up and sitting down were the worst, but I was released the next evening which was a Thu and Sat I went to WalMart grocery shopping. That was a little too much for me, lol, I had to go wait in the car for my husband to finish, but my recovery was pretty good. Now I'm 6 weeks out and have lost 30lbs, and I actually feel really good. The worst thing I could have done was cancel my surgery like I did. I wish with all my heart that I would have gotten it done in January. Imagine how far along I would be now. I'm in a good place now though and am so happy that I went through with it. PS, my sisters down 76lbs now -

Liking The Gym?!?!?!
MKambalimath replied to MKambalimath's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I feel like I'm losing really slowly and I'm only 6 weeks out. I have heard, mostly from on here, and then from my PT that a mixture of light weights and cardio is what helps weight loss. That's the reason I started really going because since my 4th week out, I've barely seen the scale move. After a few days at the gym, I've finally gotten past 28lbs lost and now I've lost 30. I don't know if its directly related to the gym or maybe I'm getting past a stall. But I do feel better. I actually feel proud of myself for sticking with it too -
Liking The Gym?!?!?!
MKambalimath replied to MKambalimath's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
My son is only 3 and so far takes after his father, the kid would rather a banana than ice cream, lol, BUT, I want to teach him healthy habits early. I dont want him to have to go through what I went through since I was 12 yrs old. The ME time IS priceless! Even though I'm sweating my butt off, I dont hear, mom, mom, mom, mom for 2 whole hours! -
16 Mos Out...disappointed
MKambalimath replied to tntransplant06's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
You guys look great! I agree with LadyIvy...you probably just need a little jump start and you'll be back on track. The fact that you're still trying and haven't given up is admirable! Good luck you guys -

2000 calories does seem like a lot. Is there anyone else thats been sleeved for this long that can eat that much? I thought our sleeves wouldnt let us eat that much anymore :/ -
Warning... Debbie Downer
MKambalimath replied to tbstacks's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi TB! What you're going through is very normal. I'll be 6 weeks out on Wednesday. I went through the same things. I felt embarrassed because I too was grieving the loss of food. Eating still doesn't have any real pleasure for me, and there are times when I get frustrated, especially because I've been in a "stall" the last couple weeks, but can usually take a walk by myself or read and it passes. I try to sit down now with my husband and son for dinner, but even though I'm trying to go slow, I'm still done way before them. Needless to say, I've become the dish doer, lol. Before, I couldn't stand to sit there with them with my tablespoon of cottage cheese. There are so many emotional issues that come along with the surgery that you don't really expect before you have it. Just know that things will get better, week by week. Good luck and take it easy on yourself -
Just wanted to introduce myself I was sleeved on April 25th. So far Ive lost 29lbs, a little mad because I would have thought I would have lost more by 6 weeks out Starting Wed I'm on real food finally though so thats something to look forward to

Need To Jumpstart This Weight Loss...
MKambalimath replied to susiegotsleeved's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I feel really discouraged as well. Was sleeved on 4/25 and have lost 28lbs. Every time I get on the damn scale it doesnt move or its moved .something. Ive tried upping my calories and started going to the gym, but I was really hoping to at least lose 30 my 1st month. At this point I'm almost regretting my surgery again. A few wks out I felt the same way but then I started getting a little more upbeat, but cant help but question whether I did the right thing when I cant even lose 30 in a month and a half Everyone on here says these emotional swings are normal though, so I guess we just have to keep at it! -
Having Second Thoughts :(
MKambalimath replied to dsleon's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had my sleeve on 4/25....I had the exact same feelings as you are. I felt selfish because I cried for a while, things were so different and I didnt have my old stand by of food to comfort me. Im doing better...I wouldnt say day by day, but definitely week by week. Good luck to you and know that what youre feeling is completely normal -
Size 22 We Meet Again.
MKambalimath replied to Flyingsaucer's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I just bought 2 pair of capris to wear to work, both 2 sizes smaller than my usual, even though Ive only lost 27lbs. Also, I ended up getting a bathing suit, which I didnt want to spend the money..but....I really want to start with water walking now that its so hot here. Thats all I plan on buying though til these are falling off me! I promised my husband, lol -
I asked about that too, my Dr said no berries for 6 weeks because at 6 weeks your staples will be completely healed, but my nut and patient care advocate said if I was blending it in with my protein shake that it was fine. It wasnt on any of my paperwork so it was a little confusing. I ended up blending it and had no problems and I was only 3 weeks out.

The Downside Of Weight Loss..
MKambalimath replied to bellabbr's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Bella, I get that you were just REPOSTING something from someone else and that wasnt all your feelings :/ Anyway, I think everyone will have their own issues with a big weight loss. I was surprised to hear your feet get smaller, lol. I'd much rather see it lost in my butt than my feet! I think it was a great repost to see what other people are thinking after their surgeries. Thats the whole point of this forum, to share our own personal experiences and concerns. Personally I've gotten a lot of reassurance from people on here further along than I am. That thing about husbands rang familiar to me. My friend had a RNY 6 yrs ago and she ended up getting divorced a few yrs later. She told me after I had mine that she read somewhere WLS people have something like a 80% chance of getting divorced after for one reason or another related to either persons feeling on the weight loss. In her case, she thought she had settled for a long time and didnt feel like she had to anymore. LIke when youre heavy you need to settle.....? I cant wait til Im a size 10 pushing a stroller out a store door to see if any man will hold the door open for me, cause they sure dont now, lol! -
Post Op - Struggling To Get In Protein
MKambalimath replied to JamieElizabeth's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi Jamie! The 1st 2 weeks I barely drank anything. I didnt come close to getting in all the protein and clear liquids. I'm almost 5 weeks out and I still struggle. Its easier now that I can eat soft chicken, apparently that has a lot of protein in 3 oz, but its still a struggle just to eat that. Ive been making a regular 6 oz piece and nibbling on it for meals and snacks, and then maybe a cheese stick. I think they just want you to try your best to meet their goals. From what Ive experienced and heard from others on here, every week gets a little easier to meet your nutrition goals -
Bollywood is Hollywood for India. Usually in "Bollywood" movies theres all kinds of dancing and singing. The dancing is fast paced and really fun. I found a bunch of videos online and some gyms even have classes now, but those are hard to find and there aren't any in my area.

Gnc Unflavored Protein..
MKambalimath replied to jaymzee's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Have you used it with water?? I've been having a terrible time with getting my protein in -
During my eating class I took before my surgery, they stressed the importance of having protein that was whey protein isolate, not soy. Whats the difference and is that only for shakes? What about things like protein bars? Does soy isolate count as protein?? Help!
