    Zumba...a Lil' Disappointed

Hey Lissa, since I'm so sore today, do you think I should not go do any cardio today? I havent been this sore EVER since starting my gym. I dont want to hurt myself. I cant believe how sore my core and knees are right now!
  2. I think it depends on if you're working or not too. I wasn't working when I lost my 1st 20lbs so I didnt care that my clothes were really big. Once I got a job though, I bought 2 pair of pants, one pr 1 size smaller and 1 was 2 sizes smaller than I used to wear and a couple shirts. Thats all I wanted to invest in just in case . I agree with Lissa on work out clothes. Even though I wouldn't normally wear anything even remotely tight, my work out pants are because I don't want to have to keep buying them. For work out tops though, I just end up wearing my regular shirts that are too big now, lol.

Made It Thru My First Zumba Class!

I didnt have any at my incision sites, but the right side where they pulled my stomach out (which hurt the most after my surgery) is VERY sore today. Honestly, Im all sore, but thats the worst so I dont know if that muscle still isnt completely healed or what. Im 8 weeks out today.

    Zumba...a Lil' Disappointed

Well ladies, I have to say I think Zumba was probably the BEST thing Ive done so far cardio-wise since I woke up this morning sore EVERYWHERE! LOL. They have a Zumba "gold" class this afternoon that I was thinking about going to to try to learn the steps better, that's for elderly people and bariatric patients, but I'm not sure I can move today. We'll have to see if I loosen up a little! You're right though, we shouldn't care what we look like, we're awesome for just getting up and going and we're doing this stuff FOR US!

    Solid Foods!

Good for you! I still get those weird sounds in my stomach after 8 weeks. My husband laughs at me because even an hour or more after I eat if we're sitting reading or something, you can hear it across the room, LOL.

How Often Do You Weigh Yourself?

I think this was a good article too. " The scales couldn’t possibly have registered real loss from one weigh-in to the next — but maybe, Risser muses, something else was going on, such as a reminder of the mission the dieter was on. His own studies of more than 600 clients show that those who were weighed five times weekly lost more weight (24 pounds) than those weighed twice weekly (19 pounds)." That quote rings true to me too, that its a reminder of the mission we are on!

How Often Do You Weigh Yourself?

I weigh everyday too. I'm probably one of those people that SHOULDN'T because I get ALL kinds of upset if its showing a gain. On the other side though, when its showing a loss, its makes everything seem more worth it and I feel a lot happier and peppier through the day. So who knows? Everyone is different. I keep telling myself I'm only going to do it once a week, but I get through one day without it and have to like its my crack the next day, lol.

    Oh My.....

How far are you out? If youre 6 weeks out, I personally think you should try it if you want. the first time I tried it, I was 6 weeks out, it hurt me and it tasted way too sickly sweet. I dont have any desire to try it again after that

Am I The Slowest Loser Ever?

I feel for ya NoEx! I just came off a 4 week stall that started when I was only 3 weeks out. My weight fluctuated at 235-237 for 4 whole weeks. I was so depressed that the last couple days I started grazing like hell. Before I very strictly kept my calories between 700-800. My Dr suggested I up my meals by one more and I did, but only a cheese stick and 5 wheat crackers. I go to the gym 4-5 times a week and still saw NO movement. I got so discouraged that over the weekend, I ate like I used to. I had tons of cookies, ice cream, ect. Monday I weighed myself and I was down 2lbs. Yest and today I kept on track and am down another .6lbs. Even though I COMPLETELY went about it the WRONG way, I think that change in my calories kicked something back in order. You probably need to make some drastic change in either your diet or exercise routine to kick the stall. Good luck!

    Maybe Broke My Stall?

Unfortunately, lol, I was the one bringing them in the house. Its weird, because cookies arent really my thing, but I always bought them for my son for a treat, and one pkg would last a really long time. I have been concentrating on proteins, all I've eaten is chicken and cheese and then started adding some salad lately. But I fell into the same problems that have plagued me my whole life, I was depressed when the scale didnt move, so I just started eating anything that was sweet. Even though I dont even really like those cookies Its a mental thing I guess, that we all fight with, this week I lost, but next week I wont! I have been SOOOO discouraged with this 4 week stall, that I was seriously regretting my decision for surgery. Now that its moving again, I feel a little better. That makes sense about the carbs though, being digested faster. Plus, I know that sugar can make you feel hungry faster. I'm definitely back on track now though :)
  14. I don't want to get too excited, but yesterday I weighed in at 233.6 and today 233. I have been sitting at 235-237 for over 4 weeks. I've got my fingers crossed that I finally broke this stall. That being said, I've totally fallen off the wagon the past few days. I've been eating treats like crazy. Why cant I get sick-full on chocolate chip cookies, but I will on less than 3 oz of chicken?!?!?! Its a mystery. Threw the cookies in the garbage though and I won't be buying anymore. Just to be on the safe side though, I bought some ready made protein shakes and I'm going to go back to that for a few days. I'm not confident I can reach my goal of 200 by Christmas now though.

    Biggest Loser Weigh In

LOL PQ! Its fun anyway just to see how everyone did. We dont have to have a winner or anything
  16. UWish, of course everyone is different, but I barely used the morphine pump in the hospital. Youre so groggy from the anesthesia, that all you want to do is sleep. The nurse kept telling me to use it if I was in pain, but all I wanted was for them to leave me alone and let me sleep. I think I used it twice, only because they wouldnt leave me alone. When I got home, I only took the liquid pain meds twice too. The pain is bad, but its not unbearable IMO. If youre worried about your reaction to the pain meds, unless there ate other issues with your surgery, you could probably get through without it. In my case, the meds made me feel sick so it wasnt a hardship to not take it. Good luck!

    What To Do?

Your surgeon sounds a little strict but maybe hes had a lot of success with his patients taking longer? Its amazing how much they differ. My sister had the same surgery through the Army in Washington state and didnt even have to do a pre-op diet! I was supposed to do a 2 week one but didnt do very well on it Its probably better just to go by his rules, I'm sure he has good reason. That being said, I felt so much better about my decision to have the surgery after I was on mushies Good luck!

Whats Better Sleeve Or Ru En Y?

I kept reading through too and didn't really see anything, but maybe something was removed by the admin people? I've seen a couple really nasty threads so anything on here was pretty mild to me, lol. But its true that sometimes people get defensive on either side of whatever post is going on. Some people have a "tone" when they are replying to posts that are very condescending and "know it all-ish", but I think the majority of people on here WANT to be helpful and enjoy responding to people that are newer in this journey. Even though I've seen some people get really ridiculous, I still love getting on this site and gaining information from others going through the same thing I am.

    3 Month Post-Op Appointment

Thats great! Ive recently added a meal to try to up m y calories a little, and Ive started using the elliptical at the gym instead of just the TM and bike, hoping to shake it up again. I think youre doing great! I love when people post about their losses, it helps the rest of us that are still fairly new to have some hope

    3 Month Post-Op Appointment

Good for you Spirit! Thats amazing! You mentioned frustration with stalls, can you tell me how much you stalled? I've been stalled for 4 weeks now and I'm very discouraged
  22. I LOVE eating out and I actually like that I have 2 days left overs when I go out now, lol. I will get a chicken dish usually, and eat it for lunch and dinner then next day or two and love it. I cant bring myself to order anything pasta now though, knowing how much I love it but that its all going to go to waste. Ive found that restaurants are really good about putting things on the side and specializing your order for you.

    Finally Tried It

So I've been pretty scared to try the elliptical. I've heard it referred to several times on here as a "helliptical" LOL. Yesterday though, when I was meeting with my PT, I asked her to show me how to do it, and it was surprisingly easy to work. Of course, I only lasted 3 minutes on it and thought I would die. I can do 2 miles on the treadmill now in under a half hour, but this thing killed me. Today though I made it 5 mins I like to think that if I switch up my cardio machines, it will help me break this stall that I'm in, so I'm adding that now to my work outs. Usually I will do 2 miles on the TM and 2 miles on the rec bike. Now I'll just keep adding more mins to my elliptical. Does anyone have any advice if thats a good thing to do? Or should I only use one machine at a time?

    Going Mental

Hey Nate I'm 7 weeks out today and I went through the same things. Even though I had no desire to eat anything because I was still in some pain after a week out, the smell of cooking dinner made me want to take a nose dive on the table, lol. Now I can eat a little of whats cooking or what everyone else is having if I want, so the issue definitely goes away. I think most people on this forum would say that the 1st 4 weeks are the worst. After that, theres still some challenges, but once you can eat all textures, you'll be so much happier. Good luck to you
