I went to a Zumba gold class Sat and that was a little better in that I could follow the steps better. I have noticed that it does REALLY hurt my knees like someone else was saying. I'm not sure if I just need to do it more or if its bad for my knees. I'm such a mess that last few days anyway after almost fainting at work and now I'm going to Michigan to visit my family for a week, that by the time I get back to the gym, I'll be like a complete newbie again anyway :/

Bringing Back An Oldie But Goodie!
MKambalimath replied to mrsflyboybs's topic in Fitness & Exercise
I used to do those with my mom when I was younger, lol. I saw him on Dr Drew a couple months ago, and hes still exactly the same! -
Fainting?!?!?
MKambalimath replied to MKambalimath's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had never had anything like that happen to me before and it was really scary. The people I work with thought I was having a stroke because I couldnt stand up straight :/ I'm calling my Dr tomorrow just to check up with him and see if he thinks it was a problem or if I just overdid it that day. I'm also wondering if the heat affects us differently? It was over 90 degrees yesterday and its over 90 today too and I dont feel that great today either. My sister had this surgery in Jan and she said she feels really sick when its hot or shes in the sun too long now, way more than she used to. Hmmm. I'm glad youre OK though. Keep us posted on what your Dr says tomorrow! -
Fainting?!?!?
MKambalimath replied to MKambalimath's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My carb intake was really low that day. I think I did a couple things wrong, I waited too long in between meals, didnt have enough carbs and didnt drink enough. I will definitely do better from now on -
I use those same cups every day, its the only thing I drink out of other than my water bottles I take to the gym. I've been using them for weeks now and Im 8 weeks out. I dont even know if I was told not to use them, if I was it went in one ear and out the other. I think the reason is in case you suck up air, and there have been times when I was at the end of my drink and sucked up some air and I felt a little weird, but you just have to make sure you dont do that. I control my liquid intake much better this way. Before my surgery I never used to use straws, but I was having a hard time sipping after so I tried these cups and ended up buying 4 of them.

Protein Powders Smell Like Vomit! Help!
MKambalimath replied to meadowesky's topic in Food and Nutrition
I got the GNC unflavored protein powder and mixed 1/2 a scoop with my crystal light. I used those new insulated cups that have the plastic straws that you see everywhere so you cant smell it. Its not as much protein as a shake, bc I only used 1/2 a scoop but I figure its better than nothing :/. If you mix it really well so theres no bumps (sometimes I used a whisk) its OK. I'm over 8 weeks out now so I can usually get all my protein in with food now so I dont have to use it too much anymore, thankfully -
Fainting?!?!?
MKambalimath replied to MKambalimath's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was concerned about that so I had a food diary that I took to my last appt and looking over it, theres no need for shakes. Apparently all my NUT wants is for me to eat the 60-80g of protein, so thats what I tend to go by. I figure they get paid to know what they're talking about. I still pick some up once in a while to try, but its always the same. The texture is so disgusting that I cant get-and keep-them down. I definitely dont do as well with my Water though. I think I need to up my game there -
Are Protein Drinks Hydrating?
MKambalimath replied to Artichokes's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think every Dr is different because mine says no. She says theres so much crammed into a protein shake that theres not really any "liquid" left. -
Fainting?!?!?
MKambalimath replied to MKambalimath's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
No I dont drink those anymore at all. I try to get my daily protein with chicken and cheese and tuna fish. Usually, I have no problems exceeding my protein goals for the day. I figured I'd rather eat chicken for Breakfast lunch and dinner than drink the shakes. I could tolerate them totally fine before my surgery, but after, the smell and consistency make me gag. -
I Have Been Going About Excersice All Wrong
MKambalimath replied to newgrandmother's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thats how I started out too, now I'm up to 40 mins on the treadmill, 15 on the elliptical and 20 on a recumbent bike. A lot less than others doing it longer than me, but I feel like I'm getting different areas and my heart rates up there, so thats all that matters. Good luck to you! -
Fainting?!?!?
MKambalimath replied to MKambalimath's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks everyone! I still dont feel so hot, but not like earlier. I will definitely call my Dr Monday because I'm a little freaked out that it happened so out of the blue, in the worst place. Well, 2nd worst place, I guess it would have been worse if I'd been driving :/ -
I started using MFP because I saw a lot of people on here using it, and I like it to see how my calories and fitness can be recorded, but other than that, I really HATE IT. The people on there are psycho! Every single time I venture to look at posts people put, they are SO negative. I've really only seen one negative post on this site since I've been on it, but that site is freakin crazy. Those people are SO judgmental about what other people post, how many calories their friends eat, who their friends can be. They get really nasty if someone says something they don't agree with. I've never seen anything like it. I only have my sister as a friend anyway, because its mostly for me to record my info, but if I wanted to have friends I would be scared! I'm glad that I have this site! Its way more supportive, I guess because we're all in the same boat here. We understand if we're only eating 800 calories we're not anorexic, we just cant fit more in. Geez! I totally feel like the people on MFP are just trying to show off their muscles or "education" on what they think is the right way to lose weight or work out.

mkambalimath....................I think, lol

I cringed when I saw it. I guess I kind of feel the same way as everyone else, thinking of myself doing it and never having the guts for such a thing, buy good for her to get out there and get it! Nick Cannon was pretty freakin hilarious too! I like how Howie was diggin her, hehe

Thanks Fluffy and Lissa, I really appreciate it! Its weird because I just had 2 people send me a friend request because of a response that I posted on there to someone who was talking about how terrible people that "screw their bodies" are because they eat less than 1200 calories, LOL. I posted that basically they dont know what someone situation is so they shouldnt judge and now I have 2 new friends that have had WLS Next time I go over there I will look you guys up! :)

3 Month Update!
MKambalimath replied to Stacey Nicole's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
You look great, keep up the good work! -
I just got out of a FOUR WEEK STALL! I was stopped at a loss of 30 lbs since i was 4 weeks out. Talk about being beside myself! I just lost 5 more lbs this week though so looks like I'm in the clear again....for now This is the absolute worst part of having the surgery for me now. Knowing that sometimes the scale wont move, even when I've had most of my stomach removed

That Fat Is Melting Off

Good for you! Keep up the good work -
I know, I know! Everyone goes through stalls and everyone posts about it..but......I'm eating 600 calories a day, doing light weights 2 times a week, but only for the last 2 weeks and getting 60 mins of cardio at least 3 times a week....and I am still at only 30 lbs lost. Actually, I just got on the scale a little bit ago and it says I gained a pound, WTH? So its only 29lbs. I am so frustrated. Even though I know its normal, its making me so discouraged. I'm making a conscious effort to eat one more meal a day since I was only eating 3 before, and still nothing. This has been going on since I was 3 weeks out. Im only a little over 6 weeks now. I lost 28lbs in 3 weeks and then 2 in 3 weeks. I barely eat any carbs, mostly chicken and cheese. The only "treat" I allow myself is frozen yogurt, but only a couple times a week. I keep waiting to pass this "3 week stall", but its not MOVING!
-
Good job! I broke my stall Monday too, lol. I've lost 5 lbs since Monday :)

I dont know about ProForm ellipticals, but I had a PF treadmill that was really good. Very sturdy and lots of options.....of course, it turned into a clothes hanger before I sold it over a yr ago, lol
-
My parents were very against it too. They thought it was way too drastic a step. My mother, whos been overweight her entire life, said, "If you know you will only be able to eat 1/4 cup of something and thats going to make you lose weight, then why cant you just do that without the surgery? You dont need surgery to tell you if you eat a tiny bit you will lose weight".........WTF? I thought she totally lost her mind. Obviously, if I could eat "a tiny" by myself I would have, lol. Anyway, they both still came to our house out of state to take care of my son while I had the surgery and then I stayed 2 weeks with them at their house. After I got home and they realized I was still alive, they were much more supportive. They were just scared, which I dont blame them. You need to do whats best for you to be healthier and happier. Good luck with your journey!

Thats awesome! Good job! I'm hoping to reach it by Christmas (conservatively) LOL

I purchased an XL shirt last week. Im in a Womens 2x thats a little loose right now. Its a 3/4 sleeve from WalMart that was on clearance for $1, LOL. I figured it would be cute in the fall. Its funny that I look at buying clothes for me right now the same way I look at buying for my 3 yr old son. Trying to guess what the size will be next to get things on clearance

Enough Is Enough!
MKambalimath replied to MsDallasSleever's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I wish I would have taken the pre-op a little more seriously. I didnt even really follow mine that well, just the last week when it was supposed to be 2 weeks. I think if I would have lost 20lbs on the pre op like a lot of other people here have, I would be at 55lbs lost now! I cant even imagine what that would be like
