    Saturday, January 5 Menu plan

Cheryl, I get what your saying. I didn't put in there, but the mayo and cream cheese i use are the light ones. It's not as much fat. The cheese is not, the commissary what out of the 2%, but that is normally what I buy. Kca1fan: those muffins are awesome. I can only eat one, they are very filling to me.

    Where did the time go??

So, I've been out of the picture for a while. I got a job, quit my job. And now I'm back to working on me. As of today I have lost 31 lbs. in 5 months. I thought this would be a bigger number by now, but I'm actually pretty happy with it. I'm not gonna lie and say I've done everything by the book, we did just go through 2 major eating holidays. And make the best Hershey chocolate pies. However I am proud of myself. I used to make 2 pies. One for the family and one I'd devour before anyone knew it was there. Lol. My eating habits are not very structured anymore. I eat when I feel hungry. The cold wet weather tightens my band and some days I just make sure I get my protein shakes in and my liquid vitamins. Now that I'm not working anymore I can go back to my menu plans. I'll post them again in a separate blog and please feel free to comment and give feedback. Good to be back!!!

    Sign In function not working...

This worked for me....thank you for posting it. I would not have thought of that.
  5. I took a shower after I had my walk and notice that the area where the port incision is, is very swollen. It's not red or anything...just a large swollen area over it, about the size of a softball. It's not sore, but I feel little shocks of pain occasionally around it. I am 14 days out (today starts 15) and I didn't notice this until yesterday. I don't know, hopefully my doc will have an answer for me.
  6. It's been a while since I've posted. I still have a little lump like area over my port but its gone down a lot. My doc said its fine and I'm not struggling or in pain. So I have left it alone. I am down 31 lbs since my surgery in July so it must be working fine.

1st fill now have gas in shoulders

Everyone is different as we all know. My dr calls my lapband sensitive. I get the shoulder pain also. We have nerve endings that run across the top of our abdomen and lead to the left shoulder. That's why so may people get shoulder pain after surgery from the gas as well as after eating from pressure of the food. The pain will subside its just another side effect that some us will go through and many others won't.

Do any of you eat like this?

My surgeon told me to eat a lower card diet, protein first after about 6 weeks. He said to stay away from nuts because they can get stuck easily.

    Constipation

My doctor said Miralax was a good choice, it's unflavored and you can take it every day. My daughter actually took it for 3 years when it was a prescription only. It's expensive, but sooo worth it.

    Drinking With Meals

If you drink with your meal you are just flushing the food through the band and you will not get the feeling of fullness and this tool, the lap band, will not benefit you if you don't follow all the instructions. Don't get me wrong, I will stare at the clock for 30 minutes some days, somedays I go for a 30 minute walk then grab a cold drink. Or get on a computer and play a solitaire game, do some research, email a friend....right in your blog for 30 minutes.

    Question...

I use GNC unflavored whey protein and mix with Diet Lipton tea (mango/pineapple) and ice. I drink this at night alot, it helps curb my sweet tooth.
  15. I read somewhere that we have nerve endings across the top of our abdomen to the left shoulder, that is the reason we get the pain when over indulging....thought that was interesting.
  16. I was banded on July 16. I began posting my menus a few days ago so would be held accountable and for any feedback. I am still in the learning process, but I am constantly on the computer researching menu plans for lap band. I am a planner, without a plan....I eat a bag of chips. So far so good, I have followed the diet completely. Good luck, have a plan for the each day and know that this is possible!!
  17. Breakfast: 2eggs scrambled with 1 wedge laughing cow cheese and a 1/2 cup scrambled turkey sausage. Lunch: 1/2 cup tuna fish with1 hard boiled egg, 2 strawberries Dinner: 1/2 c. Quinoa and black bean mix. 1 chicken thigh, bonesless/skinless and baked. 1/2 avacado, 1 tbsp FF sourcream. Snack: 1 Lipton diet green tea (mango/pineapple) and 1 scoop unflavored whey protein. 1 chiobani greek yogurt FF. Multivitamin 2 tums with calcium
  18. It is VERY common to have this pain after surgery. GasX will help relieve some of the symptoms, and keep walking. You were pumped full of air during surgery, this will take a few days or maybe a couple of weeks to subside. I was banded july 16, if I eat too much my left shoulder/neck immediately starts to hurt.

    Don't Weigh Myself?!?!?!?!?!

I weigh almost everyday, and I used to get frustrated and sometimes discouraged. So, I still weigh at home, but on Mondays I go the the gym and weigh on thier scale that gives me a printout of my weight, bodyfat and BMI. I hang this on the fridge.

    My Fitness Pal

I love my fitnespal. I adjust all of the goals to meet my doctors recommendations. Change your calorie intake in your profile. I haven't figured out how to adjust the protien, so I just ignore that part and make sure I am reaching my set goal. I love that you can scan barcodes and add food, it's such a great tool.
