Weak and no energy on preop diet
Kekeboo replied to jewel2013's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
make sure you are taking a multi Vitamin. You body is probably in a "withdrawl state" from sugar or carbs. When your body is used to eating or drinking a certain way, it takes time to get adjusted to a new way of eating/drinking. I would add a protien shake to your meal plan as a snack. -
I take 2-3 tums with calcium, I had a partial thyroidectomy and was told to take this for the my calcium been doing that for almost 4 years. I also take "on the go" Vitamin c with mulitivitamin. I get it from walgreens in the vitamin section, it's orange flavored so I mixed it with my Water and orange MIO. When I don't take that I take a chewabale Centrum. I am vitamin deficient, but getting better.

It's been pretty nice not having to cook for the family. My husband completely understands that the first 2 days or so after my fills I just can't be in the kitchen. He doesn't mind, he actually likes to cook. Today I have had a cup of coffee, a protien shake, a watered down tomato soup with fat free milk, almost 48 oz of water with a splash of MIO (On the GO Multivitamin mixed in it) and dinner will be a 1/2 of can of light progresso potato soup blended in my magic bullet and heated. I am on liquids until tomorrow morning. Then soft foods. So looking forward to a scrambled egg and 1/4 cup of grits mixed with it. I wish I like oatmeal, it would be sooo much easier.

Jan. 18th... no menu. Maybe blogging isn't for me.
Kekeboo posted a blog entry in Kekeboo's Blog Menu
I just can't seem to get it together. i read all other blogs about menus and updates and all that stuff and I think to myself....I'm witty, I'm organized I CAN DO THAT. Uh...NAH! I am disappointed in myself, but that's just me. I am a planner, a doer, a go getter. Anywho. My menu plan for the next 2 days are won't be worth posting. I just had a fill today and I'm on liquids for the next 24-48 hours, then soft for the following 3-4 days. I didn't follow the directions properly the last time and found myself gaining 2 lbs since my last visit. I can read all about how important it is to follow directions, and how this is my choice and on and on and on. I know, I get it, I had to fall before I could pick myself up. When I saw that 2 lbs, I wasn't surprised, but I was very upset. I had to reboot myself and decide for myself that I have to let the lapband work for me, and in order for it to work I have to use it properly. I have followed my menus, but I found myself eating a little more here and a little more there. Yes, calories do count. My 2 lb weightgain proved that to me. I had my 6 months bandaversary on Jan 16th and I am happy to have lost about 30 lbs. It was not done easily or without effort, and I just don't think I could have done it without my band. It was my wakeup call....I qualified for a lapband. Not my proudest moment, but so very thankful for it. So, I promise myself to blog...more often. May not be everyday. To continue my 30 minutes a day walking. To add some light hand weights. To accept that I am worth this. I deserve to be healthy. I am already happy. I'm always happy. Yeah, I am one of THOSE people. I smile through everything, I strive to see the good in every situation. And when it starts to get hard, I have a rock I can lean on...my awesome husband. Very greatful and blessed. -
I'd like to re-introduce myself
Kekeboo replied to hummingbird7's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Are you walking every day? That is a huge help to the recovery process. I started out the day after I got home and walked to the end of my driveway and back or around my dining room table. I worked my way up to around the block. It sooo very important to keep moving. Everyday, have a plan and stick to it. I find making daily menus and routines helps. Enjoy the journey, it's gonna be hard and sometimes discouraging. But if you fast forward life and can see the end result...it will be so worth it. -
Breakfast: 2 cups of coffee with splash of half/half and 1T of splenda...out of truvia and had splenda in the cabinet. No denero to shop right now. 2 eggs scrambled with 1T of cream cheese, splash of heavy whipping cream, salt, pepper, 1tsp chives and minced onion, topped with 2 T cheese. 2 very tiny turkey sausge patties. Lunch: Tuna muffins: 2 6-ounce cans tuna or salmon, drained well 2 eggs 1/4 cup celery, chopped fine, 1 ounce 2 tablespoons onion, chopped fine, 1/2 ounce 1/4 cup green pepper, minced, 1 ounce 2 ounces cheddar cheese, shredded Salt and pepper, to taste Pinch Old Bay seasoning Mix all of the ingredients and spoon into 6 well-greased muffin cups. Bake at 350º for 30 minutes until puffed, set and lightly browned around the edges. (1 muffin has 12g protien and 1g of carbs.) Dinner: Turkey burger with no bun (of course) side salad with oil and vinegar. Desert chocolate peanut butter fudge. 1 square of bakers choc. 1T butter 2T of natural peanut butter 1/2 c. of splenda or whatever sugar sub you prefer. I like truvia best. 1T heavy cream Melt choc/butter/PB in microwave. Mix until creamy, add sugar sub and cream. mix thoroughly until creamy smooth. Fridge overnight. 1small spoonful is enough to curb the sweets need. also: 1 bag of frozen strawberries or raspberries 1 cup of plain greek yogurt 1/3 c of sugar sub squirt of lime juice Put in food processor until completely mixed. Eat or put in freezer to make mock ice cream. I am drinking water and MIO like crazy. I take one pack of "one the go" vitamin C with multivitamin and chew 1 centrum multivitamin I know the fat content may look high, but I am more concerned about getting my protein in right now. Now, time to go figure out whats on tomorrows menu.

I Should have NEVER said anything
Kekeboo replied to JhonnieB's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I think we all have to do whats right for us, not only physically but emotionally. Butt cracks....that's funny. -
Listen to your body as well as your doctor. I ended up getting the low sugar gatorade and drinking that instead of water. It helped me. Not a suggestion, just what worked for me.
-
Yeah..same here. Gas X helps, but not always. I was told drinking through a straw or eating/drinking too fast can be the culprit.

Anyone cheat on their preop diet?
Kekeboo replied to kerri360's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I cheated, I was on a 3 week cross country trip with my family. Thought...Oh, one "drink" won't hurt it. I ended up falling down a flight of stairs, broke my big toe in half, chipped the toe next to it and sprained the pinky toe. My surgery was delayed a month for my recovery....WASN'T WORTH IT. -
Call doctor and read the article to the right about patient compliance. It's a great one for newly banded as well as a kick in the pants for the veterans.

What's the big deal about patient compliance?
Kekeboo replied to Jean McMillan's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Magazine
I needed this!! Noncompliance created a 2 lb weightgain because I thought I had it all figured out on my own. Wonderful, loved it...will reread again for that kick of encouragement whenever I feel like I'm falling down again. Thank you. -
I agree about the liquids...I just had a 3rd fill today and I was put on liquids for up to 2 days and soft for 3-4 days after to avoid issues.

Everyone is different, you know your body better than anyone. Throwing up constantly is a sign that the band isnt being used properly and they will have to face those consequences eventually. Definitely look for another support system. I had to do the same. My support system was constantly comparing themselves with me and it became a competition for them. I am in no way running a marathon in this weightloss journey. I find my best support at my Doctors office, that is no reflection on anyone here. I find alot of advise and encouragement here. I just have an awesome staff at my dr's office I can lean on when needed.

Well, I am so lost since I quit working. I wrote the wrong date on yesterdays menu. LOL... Breakfast: 1c. of coffee with sugarfree creamer and 2T sugar sub. 1egg scrambled with pinch of cheese, 1T light cream cheese, s/p, chives 1/4c. scrambled turkey sausage. Lunch: Tuna Muffin 3 brussel sprouts Dinner: Turkey burger with lettuce, tomato, pickles and mustard, slice of lowfat cheese. All my kids are back in school today. It feels weird sitting home by myself. My kids took one car and my husband took the other. So, if I want to go anywhere I am walking. Right now it's only 30 degrees so it doesn't look like I'll be leaving the house today. That's ok, I see lots of things that I can do in the house. We got all the christmas stuff out of the house so I can move my treadmill back to where it belongs and go for a walk on that. I really am hoping the school will call soon, I would like to work a few days a week to get out of the house. I had my weigh in about 2 weeks ago and I am down to 219. That's 31lbs since July 16th, 2012 and 40 since July 1st(preop) Very excited to see the results, my nurse also showed me picture they took during my consult...Wow, didn't realize what a difference 30lbs can make. Time to start my day....

I bought a Thermos and make low fat chili or soup. it's still very warm, sometimes hot at lunchtime. The thermos I got is from Target in the camping section, they had a good variety of different sizes, I bought the smaller one for portion control.

You know, I have fitness pal and I have used it before. It was very helpful to see the breakdown of each food. Thanks!!

Side of 1/4 c cauliflower with cheese sauce. 1 white tea (green tea) everyday. 2 cups of coffee. Got a Keurig for Christmas. 4 cups decaf tea with lemon. 4 c of water with mio flavoring. 1 c of water with liquid vitamin That's my plan and I'm sticking to it.

We had a snow storm that my state isn't used to and lost power for 24 hours during 25-30 degree weather. Since then my computer had given me issues, and I thought that since I couldn't sign on to this site it must have been part of the storm. Not very computer savy. But when I right clicked and opened it another window and that worked....I was sooo happy. I am sooo happy to be blogging my menu plan again. This is such a motivator for me and I can look back and see what I have accomplished.
