As of today I am 5 days post op. While I was in the hospital they gave me Oh Yeah shakes. They are so good and lots of protein. If I can drink two of them and 2 twenty oz bottles of water a day I am getting all of my protein and liquids. Also haveing somekind of creamy soup helps me feel like I am eating. Be strong!

My surgery is also scheduled for the 10th. I know how you are feeling and I have had other surgeries. I am one big ball of nerves right now. But we will be fine and it will be worth it! Good Luck to you!

Got my approval letter from insurance on Friday, called the doctors office this morning my surgery is scheduled for October 10th!

October 10th!

After being denied 3 times by insurance, I got a letter in the mail yesterday that I have been APPROVED! Can't wait til Monday to call the doctor's office to set up my appointment.

I am in Monroe NC. Seeing Dr. Pirrello will have surgery done at Presbyterian Matthews. Stil waiting on insurance approval.

Just a thought.... I have not had surgery yet, still waiting on insurance approval. But I do know that muscle weighs more than fat. If you have started exercising maybe some of the fat is coming off and you are putting on lean muscles. Have you tried measuring yourself to see if you are loosing inches? Just a thought.

I thought that I had done all my homework in May on the subject of insurance and what they expected of me. I thought wrong!!! When I called insurance company in May they told me that the VSG was covered, I needed a psyc evaluation, a nutrition appointment, a normal pap, some blood work, an upper gi and a recomendation from my pcp. My surgeon's office also called to make sure that I have everything in place that I need, and were informed of the same things as myself. Today I called the insurance company to see if I had been approved for surgery, to my surprise I had not! I have not been on a supervised diet for 6 months. I do not find this surprising, because I lots of insuance companies require it, but I was not informed of it the first 3 times that I called to make sure of coverage. When I asked about it today, it is the doctor that is reviewing my case for the insurance company who reccomends the supervised diet. My surgeon has set up a conference call to speak with the Insuance company and their doctor reviewing my case. Please say a little prayer that this gets taken care of. On the bright side I have been on a supervised diet for 2 months and lost 13lbs.! YAY ME! Those two months will be part of my 6 month diet if I have to do it.

I am 5' 6", I am in the process of scheduling my surgery date. My first appointment with the doctor I weighed in at 279lbs. Now two months after seeing him and the nutritionist I am weighing in at 267lbs. My doctor used the BMI wheel and said my goal weight was 178lbs to be healthy. I have set my personal goal to a little less. But as long as I am healthy in the end I don't care what my weight is.

I am also waiting on insurance approval, I know that the Doctors office has sent in everything that I needed. When I talked to my insurance company yesterday they said they had all documents and there is a 3 business day decission period. Hopefully I will hear something by the end of this week. Hope you hear soon.

I had to ask for the seat belt extension in February on the way to Vegas for a friend's 40th birthday trip. I was so embarrassed. I finally have everything ready to go for surgery just waiting on insurance!
