SkinnyMinnie2Be replied to MissKatie's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So far I have had an upper gi endoscopy, nutritionist meeting, meeting with pulmonologist, EKG, blood work, endocrinologist, meeting with my surgeon. The vertical sleeve is covered by our medical service plan ( health care we pay for every month depending on Income. I pay about $60 for myself and husband joint). The lap Band is not covered. I am a Canadian citizen -

Ur in my prayers Katie! I can't answer any questions re: insurance etc as I live in Canada and ours is covered under our medical service plan (MSP) but from what I have seen on the website it usually on the sooner rather than later part of the estimated response time -
2 Lbs In The Right Direction!
SkinnyMinnie2Be posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I started my pre pre op ( the stage where I'm Very conscious about what I eat) last Wednesday. I don't have to start my liquid diet until September 11. But I figured if I can get down 20 lbs by then..and another 20 on the liquids then surgery will be smooth sailing! Well when I weighed myself last Wednesday I was 278. I cut our carbs, stopped the sodas. Watched my Protein intake etc etc, on Sunday I stepped on the scale (I shouldn't have because I told myself I was weighing only once a week! I was discouraged to see that I was still 278! I became very depressed and got Into the "why do I even bother" mode and ate normal again..ate the bread..had the soda. I weighed myself again today (Wednesday..one week later) and to my surprise I was 276!! I know it's only 2 lbs but its 2 lbs lost! I'm so inspired I had to share This gave me whole new insight. I am back on the bandwagon of good health until my sleeve oct 2:) -
October Sleevers?
SkinnyMinnie2Be replied to NDN_RN's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was told by my surgeons assistant that I have a tentative date of October 2. It sounds so far away by its actually less than 2 months away. I would like to be able to hope it was sooner but I need this time to develop healthy habits and to shrink my liver. Less than 2 months. Eeeeep! -
Seeking Buddies 5'2" & Under
SkinnyMinnie2Be replied to ladymacwhiz's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hey all! 5'0 and currently 278.4. I'm 25 years old and these numbers just don't balance out! According to a "normal bmi" I should weigh 125lbs but I have been 140 before and people told me I looked too skinny. I would be happy with 150. Actually I would be happy with anything but where I am now. I an pre op with a tentative date of oct 2! -
I go to a registered massage therapist once a week. It's paid through my benefits at work..so why not? I'm a nurse and my profession puts a toll on my body. My main focus is my back shoulders and neck. I'm just wondering if anyone else gets massages and how soon after their operation were they able to lay on their tummy and get them?

Massages After Vsg?
SkinnyMinnie2Be replied to SkinnyMinnie2Be's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm in Canada and have sunlife extended health cars benefits. Up to the first $1,000 are covered 80%..after that 100%. Example: my total for an hour massage is $89. I pay the girl then put in an online claim. Within 24 hours $71 is put back into my account....so I only end up paying $20 or So out of pocket. Once I have reached $1,000 of massage claims, each one of my massages will be covered 100% -

The Top 5 Things You Will Not Miss After Vsg
SkinnyMinnie2Be replied to SkinnyMinnie2Be's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Omg! I totally forgot about the chairs! I broke a chair at a Friends house once. Super embarrassing, and one time in high school in a cafeteria..not sure which time was more humiliating. Also hate havin to assess the chair situation when sitting at a restaurant or gathering. I hate sitting with my back to another person. I feel like because I'm so big the person behind me doesn't have room to get in or out. I try to grab the first seat I see that will let me avoid that situation...where I can sit freely!! Thigh chaffing is the worst! Can't wait for that too stop...and my skin to not be dark there anymore -
At What Weight Limit Did You Say "you Have Had Enough"?
SkinnyMinnie2Be replied to Gonnabeslim1day's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Yeah booths are another thing I forgot to mention! I pray if there is a booth that it is "moveable" so I can slyley slide it forward because usually the person on the other side has a foot of room in front of them to spare. I have noticed when I go out to eat with friends or siblings that it's usually me alone on one side of the booth...do they think I need lots of room or something? New years eve last year when we got out of a party but didn't really have much food to eat my bf sugessted we go to Denny's at 2-3am for Breakfast cause nothing else was open. Well the booth there was too tight..I got in but was uncomfortable. My bf asked "are u ok babe"? I said yeah but that was a lie. We hadn't ordered yet and he said u know it's ok if we go somewhere else?...and I said no its ok. He's very supportive of my decision and has stuck by my for the last 4 years where i have gained 50 lbs. has never once said anything about my weight but it's not fair to him...he doesn't need to change plans etc just because I can't fit. Another thing- I am a nurse and therefore moving a lot all day long. Sick and tired of sweat pouring down my back and the sweatiness under my breasts when I'm working..especially in this heat! That is one of the millions of things I'm not gonna miss about being oberweight!! -
At What Weight Limit Did You Say "you Have Had Enough"?
SkinnyMinnie2Be replied to Gonnabeslim1day's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
For me my weight has always bothered me. I have been saying "enough is enough" since I was 170lbs.. I'm 5 feet tall. Highest weight 280. I'm pre op, scheduled for october. But it's when I stopped taking care of myself that I realized I needed an intervention. When something as simple as having a shower became a chore...I started showering once a weeks. Sick I know, but the mere cleansing and getting in the folds etc was exhausting. I stopped attending social events..such as weddings or birthdays. I started sleeping my days away...avoided shopping...cleaning myself after a bm caused me to break out in a sweat. I was getting short of breath after everything...crying a lot. That's when I knew -

I totally understand what you're talkin about!! I am pre op but have had that pop rock sound for years. I've never thought about what triggers it but I'm sure it's something. Mine is not very loud though..i can hear it but I don't think others around me can... -
Hi all, I am going for my first pre op nutritionist appt on Friday. I will be taking a 3 day food diary as well as a list of meds. My NUT told me on the phone that she will be going over the pre and post op diets with me. I'm a total OCD planner and have my handy notebook with me..I have made a list of questions but I'm wondering if anyone can throw out some questions that I could ask her or info that may be helpful. So far I have 1. How much protein/carbs pre/post surgery 2. Vitamins 3. Preventing hairloss or decreasing Anything helps! Xoxo

Most Humiliating Fat Moment
SkinnyMinnie2Be replied to peacequeen's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My most humiliating moment. Keep in mind that I am easy Indian but born in Canada. I love my culture and all but Indian people upon people with weight issues and have no issue talking about it. So here goes: I was at an Indian clothing store helping my boyfriend pick out an outfit for an up coming wedding. When the lady at the store asked him what size he was and he told her, she brought out that size. However, that outfit was too tight on him. He hadn't gained any weight, I'm sure they just had the wrong size on the label. He made a sweet comment to the sales lady "I guess I may have packed on a few pounds..my gf is such a great cook". The sales lady answered "well she must be trying to get you to look like her so she won't look so fat standing next to you like she does now". I was speechless. My boyfriend saw the look on my face and said lets go. We were planning on going shopping and then going out to my fave restaurant to have dinner but who wants to eat after hearin a comment like that? The whole drive home I wiped my years silently. He knew I was so upset and tried to convince me to go home, freshen up and go out with him. Instead I went home, layed in my bed and cried myself to sleep while he held me. So embarrassing. -
