    Some Ground Turkey Dishes

A little bit of texture - enough that I could still chew some before swallowing. I can't handle "pureé" in the absolute, totally smooth sense - gross! My nutritionist said if I blender things to about tuna fish consistency and then chew it the rest of the way to mush, she'd be okay with that!

    Some Ground Turkey Dishes

I just made a turkey meal tonight! Very very simplistic, but so yummy! Sauteed up some ground turkey, then zucchini and mushrooms with a little salt, pepper, and garlic powder. Mixed together, blended slightly in the Bullet (still on purees), and good to go! Quick, simple, and good!

    Sex Drive

I'm 3 weeks out, and have not yet experienced any kind of crazy sex drive increase. Frankly, I don't know if that's good or bad ~ considering I'd have no outlet if I did!!

    Pureed Cant Handle

Real pureé grosses me out too - especially meat - so I've been sticking it in my magic bullet just to a rough chop - to a little rougher than the consistancy of tuna fish. Then I make sure I just CHEW CHEW CHEW really well! Also make sure it's moist.

Protein Drinks And Shakes, What Ones Are Good?

I've been using Body Fortress - just plain chocolate or vanilla - and been pretty happy with them. I actually really love the chocolate - doesn't have that overly fake too-sweet chocolate-ness that some have, but just enough to make it good!

    New Member..2 Days Post Opp

Welcome!! I hear a lot around the boards about funny noises - mine makes them too - so no worries there! Welcome to your new life, and welcome here!!
  9. I just have to share ~ I'm so proud of myself! I went out with the girls tonight for the first time post-op (9 days: 8/29). We went to a diner and then a bar. My two MOST favorite used-to-be foods? Diner foods and beer =P Even though I feel GREAT, I'm following my instructions to the absolute letter, and not deviating whatsoever - which means I am still on Protein shakes & low-cal liquids only for another 10 days. My friend got buffalo chicken tenders ~ I leaned over to sniff them, lol ~ GOD they smelled soooo good!!! The old me would have been dying just for a bite ~ and would have fought with myself against it, and then given in and cheated. The new me did think about just licking a piece for the taste - for literally half a second - and then said "Nope. I'm good.", and went back to sipping my Water. No problem, no second thought. I know it might sound silly, but it makes me feel good. I know how I would have reacted to the situation before my journey began, and it would have been tortuous. I know that right now is actually probably the easiest part - once I get onto food, and then in a year, or two, or ten down the road will be the real test of how strong and committed I can be to sticking with this decision I've made. I put a lot of time, thought, and soul-searching into this surgery, and never took it lightly. I've come to realize in life that if you are not really ready to accept or do something - you will keep struggling and failing with it. I've spent my entire adult life attempting go lose weight. *Really* trying. But in my head and heart I guess I just wasn't ready and could not put away my love of food. I felt totally ready for this, and having done the deed and begun on my journey ~ I feel like a completely different person. Yes, there are still old habits to learn, new habits to make, and struggles that will have to be overcome... but I have a feeling inside that this time, with the help of my new tool - I will finally be able to succeed in my goal of being well and truly healthy and not overweight for the first time in my life - and to stay that way!
  10. Still on Protein shakes at the moment - SO sick of them! But what's been getting me through is my Reeses shakes, lol. chocolate Protein shake, blended with ice, a little 1% milk, and a tbsp of creamy Peanut Butter. What a difference it makes! The pb is really the kicker - very good in a vanilla Protein shake too! Moving onto soft foods on Monday - can't wait to start trying some of these food ideas!!!

    Annoyed

TOTALLY FEELING YOU. I'm 2 weeks out today. Lost 16 lbs my first week; vacillated up and down 1.5 and ended my 2nd week only down another 1/2 pound. I called my NUT just to check - and she said the same exact thing: your body needs to adjust, and especially to have dropped so much in the first week, it's totally normal to stall a bit. Just make sure I am getting in my Protein, Vitamins, and liquids, and it should pick back up. I'm also SO looking forward to Monday, when I officially can move to Phase II and get some ACTUAL food! I'm so sick of these Protein shakes... I'm a salty girl, not sweets - they're killin' me!! =P
  12. I decided to go with Bariatric fusion ~ I'm just wondering what input you guys might have? Love it? Hate it? Anyone have major issues with it? Folks who do use it with good results~ do you find you have to supplement with anything else? Just looking for some input I'm only a week post-op and just starting Vitamins today, so I haven't had a chance to get too far behind on anything yet! Tried to do my research, these looked great, and were also recommended by a friend who is very successfully 3.5 years post-op

    Week 5.... No Weight Loss

Thanks for this thread, folks I know I have to get out of the habit of getting on the scale every day, but it's so hard! I'll be 2 weeks out on Wednesday, and it's been amazing to see the numbers jumping down every day - and when they didn't this morning I started to get into that "Oh no, why didn't they...?" mode. Gotta remember that it's a process, it's going to stall sometimes (and I know myself, from all those years of dieting- I tend to stall fairly often and then *jump*), and everyone is different. The weight is still going to come off. Just be PATIENT! I know all these things... But it helps so much to keep hearing them from the outside. Thanks again
  15. I keep waiting for the ball to drop, lol - I had my RNY on Wednesday 8/29, so I am now 4 days out. Surgery went easy as pie, and the nurses on the Bariatric unit even kept saying they couldn't believe how great I looked - one even made a "speed demon" comment about my laps around the unit =P I have had no nausea, very very minimal pain, pretty good energy- (I sat through 6 hours of vocal rehearsal today for the show I am stage managing!) Only the slightest twinge in my one medium-sized incision when I sit up in bed, and I've been able to sleep on my sides since I came home 2 days post-op, and can also lay on my stomach. Only on liquids so far, but have not had any issues there whatsoever - hot, cold, ice pops, tea, crystal light, Water - tolerating all just fine, no discomfort, and no problems getting in my recommended amounts. It CAN'T be this easy!! I'm getting nervous now that something's going to go haywire...

    Rash?

Anyone crop up in a rash after surgery? I've got one going on ~ it's not too bad, and a nurse practitioner at the office saw it today when I was getting my staples out and said the same thing. I did look online and found reports of rashes with people on Omeprazole (Prilosec) and Dilaudid - both of which I had. Not taking the Dilaudid anymore, but my surgeon orders the Omeprazole for 3 months after surgery. Anyone else notice anything with those particular drugs?

    Prescription Vitamins?

I would think that Gastric Bypass certainly would be medical justification for Vitamin prescriptions! As in, they are completely necessary! Definitely something I'm interested in finding out as well, before it comes time to decide amounts for next year's flex spending!
