I started gaining weight after my daughter was born. I have gained and lost a few times, getting down as low as a size 10....but gaining it back and more, as seems the common story. When my husband passed away 8 years ago, I started putting on weight and the weight on a very small frame started causing me some serious health problems. Sleep apnea, kidney problems, Oesteo Arthritis, and, having broken my back at age 10, not being able to walk without the use of a walker. No quality of life....thank goodness, my work does not require me to be physically active..

My daughter phoned me a few weeks ago to inform me that she was going to have a baby girl in October. After waiting for 3 years to have this surgery in Canada, even though it is covered by our government medical plan, I voiced my concern to my sister-in-law that I didn't know if I would live to watch my new grand daughter grow up, and she assured me that I would as she was going to pay for my surgery....I felt that I had won the lottery. My sister-in-law is the best.

So here I am three weeks later, waiting for one more week to have my surgery. I fly to San Diego a week from today with a dear friend, and my brother and sister-in-law will be driving down to Tijuana from Las Vegas for my surgery as well....So I will keep you posted... God Bless you all!

Ok now I'm 8 months post surgery, I've lost a total of 78 pounds and feel fabulous...I still have 52 pounds to go, but will be visiting a plastic surgeon to find out how much this loose skin weighs, because it's coming off too. I have to thank Dr. Ortiz and his group for such a fantastic experience. I would recommend his hospital and he to any one who will listen,,,NO PAIN!!...it was amazing. I have had no problems except a little heartburn occasionally, but a tums and that's it...I can walk again without a walker, no cpap machine anymore, and I have to tell you, I feel fantastic, and look fantastic as well...people who I have known forever do double takes, and I get so many compliments....it's wonderful...looking for a fella now...wish me good luck, and good luck to all of you who read this...if you are fence sitting...just do it. It's life altering...I mean it.
