Ive Only Lost 10Lbs The First Week Post Surgery
olivia1425 replied to olivia1425's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I weighed 194 when I checked into surgery now 184. I think you are right the more you need to lose the bigger the number would be. I was just wondering on average what people lose the first week. I know it's a process but when I think Of what is going into my body I should be just weathering away. Lol -
I'm so nervous!! Lol

Surgery is Tuesday and I was so prepared, but now I have gone completely blank. What are some good clear liquids I can have after surgery? About how long on clear liquids?

Tuesday Is My Day, Now Doubting It :(
olivia1425 posted a topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Well I'm being sleeved on Tuesday. I've been so excited now I'm scared and have doubts. Is this really worth it? Will it work. I'm 4"11 and weigh 200lbs. Short and no place to put it. I never go anywhere because I feel so gross. I live in my own prison. I think on one hand it's my only chance to start living again. Is this the right surgery for me? Should I have gone with the lab band or the other one. Will I ever get to eat real food again? Scared and lonely -
Currently I don't own a scale. It just depressed me. So should I go and buy one or should I just not worry about the number. I mean I will be able to tell if I'm losing weight or not. Plus I'm worried if I do get one I will be disappointed in how slow I lose. Surgery is Tuesday!! Yes this Tuesday! Lol

Tuesday Is My Day, Now Doubting It :(
olivia1425 replied to olivia1425's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Thank you! I am still having the surgery come hell or high water! I've waited 3 years to do this until my youngest grad high school. I guess I'm just letting anxiety gt the best of me. I don't really have a support here as both my boys left for military the past couple months, so it's just me. I'm alone and scared and have only told a couple of friends. Mainly I don't want to hear them saying you don't need that, just get up and exercise. If it was that easy, we would all be skinny. I think I'm more scared of the after surgery and finances. I've put all my ducks in this and now I"m stressed about money. lol The shakes you guy from the doctor is so expensive, Does anyone know what I can buy at the grocery store that might be cheaper and still get the protein you need? -
I guess my surgery will be delayed at least 6 weeks. I found out that I tested positive for H-Pylori which is a bacterial infection in my stomach. Apparent it's most likely been there since I was a child. 3 antibiotics. Frustrating. I hate delays. Uggggg!!!

Tested Positive For H-Pylori.
olivia1425 replied to olivia1425's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Well they said they won't do it as long as I test positive. . -
Well I think I'm almost there. Completed my doctors apts, NUT and psyc eval. Now waiting on insurance approval and surgery date. Most likely will be sleeves middle to end of sept. I can hardly wait! So ready for this new chapter!
-
Well I think it's in track. Just lots of appts to fit in between work. Plus insurance approval but it's waiting until everything gets turned in but that can't be done until I get all appts done. I live about 45 min away so it's not like I can just run over there.

Ugggg I want my date!

What I Look Forward To The Most
olivia1425 replied to olivia1425's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Actually I haven't had the surgery yet. :-). Most likely won't be I til sometime in sept. But just all the low self esteem has certainly put a damper on my sex life. I prob shouldn't have said that on here. :-) -
I Went to the Seminar on Thursday and they already called me today. They told us in the seminar to expect up to 2 weeks before they conact us, so I was excited to get a call from the doctors office this quick. She got info on my insurance and since my BMI is over 40 all I need is psyc eval and nut consult but that's it! My insurnace is easy as far as this process. THankfully so many people in my office have already paved the road for me so hopefully it should be smooth sailing. My first dr appt is July 10th, my nut and psyc eval is scheduled for July 11. She said the Dr. requires 2 nut visits so I will get that scheduled later. Once done they submit to insurance and it takes 2-3 weeks for approval. Nut apt is $75 per session so x2 and my Psych appt is $125 so all that is out of pocket. When it's all said and done with co pays etc, my out of pocket will be approx $500 which is going to be totally worth it. I want this now!!! I hate waiting. Hopefully, the end of Aug surgery will be set, Sept at the latest. Did I mention, I hate waiting!!! I know lots of Home work to do until then. Ive got lots to learn about what all I can and cannot eat afterwords, etc.

Making Progress With The Red Tape
olivia1425 replied to olivia1425's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
My doctor does have a NUT and Psy on staff that's who I am using, but for some reason they are not covered. . Bummer I know but hey I'm thankful for the bulk being covered and there are a lot of self pay out there so I shouldn't complain. -
Should I Get Surgery?
olivia1425 replied to ComputerKing's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I did have to gain a few pounds to get my insurance to pay for it. I was so close and have been struggling for years. I'm only 4'11 so my weight really shows up. -
I'm new..just getting started on this journey. You made me laugh. I look forward to more stores as the days go by. Keep us posted. thanks and good luck!

My 1 Year Surgiversary- Can Hardly Believe It!
olivia1425 replied to former_vbg's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Wow...I am just starting my journey. Last Thursday I went to my required seminar to get the ball rolling. I've been going back and forth for years. I'm 43, divorced for 19 years and now becoming an empty nester. I must say I'm so excited about the possibilites, but so scared I will be the exception. I know if I follow the process, it will work. I so need this. I found this sight yesterday and literally can't stop looking at it. The stories, like yours makes me tear up. I'm so happy for you and I can't tell you how much it helps me getting motivated and started. Now, I can hardly wait and want it down now! Most people in my office say it's about a 3 month process to get everything done and the insurance on board, so hopefully September will be my month. I can't imagine, this time next year I might actually get into a bathing suit and actually take some pictures with me in them instead of always being the photographer. Anyway....congrats on your success and thank you for sharing because it does help hearing things like this to give us hope. -
Hello And I'm New To This! Looking For Success!
olivia1425 posted a topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Hello, I just came across this sight. I'm totally new. Went for my seminor on Thursday. I've been thinking about this for years! I want a new life. Divorced for 19 years and now an empty nester, so I have to find myself again. Depressed because I'm so over weight. I don't go out, or buy clothes, etc. Basically I hide from life. I am so unhappy and I need a change. I know this is a lot of work. After researching this seems like it is a good tool. I need a jump start. Fortunately, my insurance does pay for this. It almost sounds too good to be true but I'm still not sure. I guess it's a little scary since I've hid behind my fat for some many years. What if this actually works and I do lose some weight? Then what? What if guys are interested in me again. lol That's a scary thought. Change is exciting yet also getting out of ones comfort zone. I would appreciate support here. I don't have it any where else. I'm told it's about a 90 process from the time of your seminar to get it all ready for the Big day. I'm 43 years old and I want to live again! This I feel is my only chance. I can't believe I wrote all that! lol anyway here goes nothing!!! -
Question How Long Are You Off Work After The Sleeve?
olivia1425 replied to olivia1425's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Everyone from my work who has done the sleeve has taken 6 weeks off becase the doctor will sign off for 6 weeks. However, I asked this question becase I can't possibly take 6 weeks off, I don't have that much sick time so therefore I won't get paid. A friend of mine said she got hers done on a Wed and she went back to work on Monday. I guess everyone is different, but I was just asking what other people were doing. Basically for you who is getting a hard time from your work....you just take off as much time as you need. Don't let anyone pressure you into anything. When YOU are ready go back, then go back. -
