Woohooo... losing again!
SlimDiddySleeve replied to Lee's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Lee, thank you so much for posting your great perspective and experience. I want to try so hard to only weigh myself once a week, because the scale has such an effect on my day! Little or no loss= cranky SlimDiddy. -
I finally found a before picture!! I'm the one in the pink.
SlimDiddySleeve replied to FabBy50's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Fab- I think the subject line is just too funny.... "I'm the one in the pink" and you are with your two furbabies!! That just gave me the giggles! You're an inspiration!! -
River Walk--- all those cute river front cafes, mexican food an all, and we were FINE! No hunger at all!

BJean, you're right. The gas either escapes up top or down below (excuse me!) It's because the doctor fills your stomach with air during the surgery (not exactly sure why- maybe to check for leaks?). The gas is the most painful part, I found. Now that I'm four days out, I don't have the gas pains hardly at all and I'm back to normal activity. Going to work on Monday shouldn't be a problem. In fact, VV and I felt so good on Monday, when we were back in San Antonio we explored River Walk and the Alamo! San Antonio has a beautiful downtown!

SlimDiddySleeve replied to SamieTeacher's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That gurgling sound IS really weird! I am getting used to slowing down and taking tiny sips too. I think you're perfectly normal, SamieTeacher! And I hope it's your spring break and you're enjoying it! -

VV2010 and SlimDiddy are Ready for Sleeve Day!
SlimDiddySleeve posted a topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi Everyone! Well, VV2010 and I are here in TX, ready to drive over the border tomorrow to see Dr. Alvarez and WE ARE SO EXCITED!!! We've had a great day so far, except that the woman sitting one seat up and over the aisle from us on the plane brought a ziploc bag filled with homemade sugar Cookies and ATE THE ENTIRE BAG while VV2010 and I were salivating!!! I nearly fell out of my seat when VV2010 took out a Listerine breath strip, put it in her mouth, and declared, "Man, I'm full!" The plane ride was just fine, and honestly, that's the part I was most scared about this whole process--- I HATE flying! I swear to you that I was more nervous about the flying than the actual surgery! But everything was just fine. Said goodbye to my son and husband last night and got a little teary, but I know everything will be OK. We keep telling ourselves "people do this every day!!" We can't wait to report back to you all on our surgery tomorrow! VV and I are the only ones being sleeved tomorrow. We met a wonderful woman who was waiting for the airport shuttle while we were waiting for Dr. A.'s driver, Rosey (love Rosey!) This woman was sleeved on the 29th and she was doing SO well- spent the day walking around San Antonio, went to get her nails done, went to the movie theater. VV and I are hoping that we'll feel that good on Monday- would love to be able to see some of San Antonio. Thanks to you, Sleeve Family! The support you all give here is phenomenal. What a great journey we're on! Until tomorrow... or probably Sunday.... -

Here's my story... and can't wait to continue after 4/3/2010!
SlimDiddySleeve posted a topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hello All! I have been lurking on this board for the past couple months, and now I am finally ready to "tell my story"! I am so excited for my upcoming sleeve surgery NEXT SATURDAY (OMG!!!!!) This is going to be such an exciting step. I have been overweight since I was about 12 years old and battled with low self-confidence and low self-esteem off and on for the past 25 years or so. My mother was pretty disgusted with my weight- almost to an obsessive degree- and throughout my teen years we fought about my weight all the time. Our relationship is still strained from those years of her dragging me to Weight Watchers, making me stand on the scale so she could see how much I weighed, watching every morsel I placed in my mouth, and even counting the Cookies in the cabinet! The ironic thing is that I WISH I weighed NOW what I weighed back then in high school!! Fast forward to now- I am happily married to an awesome, funny guy (love him!!!) and we have one biological son (6 yrs old) and we're about to adopt a precious little guy from China sometime end of May or June. Mom (and Dad) love being grandparents and HOORAY- the focus is no longer on the size of my ass! (haha!) I moved 1,000 miles away from my parents, and that's been great for me. I have an awesome job in education and love what I do. I have a few very close girlfriends and they are treasures, I tell you! Love them so much. I went to a little liberal arts school in the midwest and met my LIFELONG BEST FRIEND!!! After college, we both moved to the ATL and there is hardly a day that goes by that we don't talk. We even used to teach ACROSS THE HALL from eachother! Talk about AMAZING- imagine seeing your best friend all the time! Those were great years. Well, my best bud and I have both been struggling with our weight for the ENTIRE 20 years we've known eachother! We have had the SAME TALKS every few months- let's do Weight Watchers! Let's do BootCamp! Let's Walk our asses off every weekend!! We've tried everything and tried to lose the same 20 pounds every year it seems like. I'm telling you, we've talked AD NAUSEAM about losing weight! God help us! Then, about 2 years ago, an angel from heaven sat next to me in this class I took and she told me all about her surgery she just had with Dr. Alvarez. She was so excited about her new life. I was in awe of the dainty bites of lunch she had (while I was snarfing whatever I packed that day). I told my BFF about this girl and her surgery. We were both kind of intrigued and worried (Mexico?!?!) at the same time. Over the past two years, I had forgotten this girl's name, but friend and I talked more and more about VSG, Dr. Alvarez, turning 40, tired of being fat, and all that jazz.... Well, friends (thanks for sticking with me so long...) guess what?! BFF and I are going TOGETHER to see Dr. Alvarez NEXT WEEK!!! We have done research out the wazoo and followed this forum like it was our JOB (props to our heroes- Tiffykins and DeeDee!) and we CAN'T WAIT!!! We're even sharing a room (there's a discount!) You'll meet her soon- her screen name is VV2010. That's it folks! Can't wait to share pictures! We took our "before" pictures last week- and dear god, you DON'T want to see those yet!!! Thanks to all of you for all you post here- what a great sleeve family we have! -
