Disapointed! Not Losing Enough.....
LauraTarry posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So I am now a month out of surgery. I am down 26lbs.... I was really feeling good about myself, and then I went on vacation with my family. I didn't make the best food descions while I was away. My family is full of phenominal cooks! My sister was also riding me the whole time, which was so annoying, especially since she is 5'11 and super skinny!!! I know she was just trying to look out for me, she hurt my feelings a lot too! THEN I just saw pictures of myself! The tiny shred of confidence I had just gained, was just ripped away! I look so terrible, and I feel bigger now!! I swear, at two weeks out I felt great, was really noticing a difference... and now I feel like a cow! I know I have a VERY long way to go still... just want it to happen now!!! And not have any loose skin! AAHHHHHhhh just frustrated, and feeling down! You can't even tell I have lost any weight! =(- 11 replies

Thank you for sharing this! I thought I was the only one! I have been so upset, I have had like a 2 week stall, and really to scream, cry, and pull my hair out!! I even went up two pounds, which really did make me cry! I am going to try to add more protien and work out more. Suzjag, girl, I want it now too, more like yesterday even! LOL Oh when we're all skinny, we'll look back and laugh, right? Hopefully. Best wishes everyone!

I am 5 weeks out and have lost 30lbs... but I had a high BMI. It seems to me like people with a higher BMI tend to lose more in the beginning than people with a lower BMI. Not sure though, everyone is different! Some people lose like 90lbs in 3-4months! I so want to be one of those people, but probably won't be! Lets just be thankful we're all losers!!! Whoop whoop!! =)~

How Long Until You Ate Salad, Steak, Bread?
LauraTarry replied to JentryB2020's topic in Food and Nutrition
Well, I am one month out almost 5 weeks actually.... I think I have a sleeve of steel! Nothing has bothered my stomach so far.. which is not necessarily a good thing if you think about it. I have not tried steak or salad, but I am going to soon, I have been craving salad for quite a while! I have had bread, with no problems, but it does fill you up! But I love those Duos Cheese-Its! OMG addicting, I have to be very careful... I have made that Baked Riccotta and added meatballs, very good! Also KOCH makes these little packs (2 in a pack) of Chicken Cordon Bleu, they also have one with bacon and cheddar Jack cheese, and one with broccoli, and one with mushrooms. The chicken breast is small. I can almost eat a whole one. They come frozen, I bought them at walmart. They have 25-27g of protein each and very tasty. The thing is I chew for a long time! Can't wait for salad, I'm trying it tomorrow, I'll let you know! -
I'm one month out and down 26lbs. Wish it was more, but I'll take what I can get right!

Having A Hard Time....
LauraTarry replied to Eos38's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm so sorry you're having a bad time!! I had two set backs in the beginning as well, though nothing as serious as yours! The day after I got home, I had to go back to the ER, I was dehydrated, got sick threw up, and my stomach became really swollen! The pain was horrible! They put me back on IV fluids and the pain pump. Then I got home and everything was great, felt really good.... and then I leaned over the wrong way and my drainage tube shifted and got under my dyaphram and I couldn't breathe! It was so painful... And they pulled it out early, but it had already irritated my dyaphram and stomach and I had bad pain for another week! Seriously I was so upset and had major regrets! One month out and doing great now! It will get better for you too! Sending positive thoughts, well wishes, and prayers your way! I hope you feel better soon! -
Disapointed! Not Losing Enough.....

Thanks LadyJ. Yes I know I have a very poor self image.... since childhood! I have never been the pretty girl! I want so badly to feel good about myself for once! When I was younger, I used Liquid courage to boost my self esteem, it was the only way I could walk into a room with my head held high. I am in AA, been sober for 6yrs. I am a very out going, friendly talkative person... I just wish I felt the way I act sometimes... i don't know if that makes sense. -

I Need Help! In A Lot Of Pain Still!
LauraTarry posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ok fellow sleevers, Please help me out! I am two weeks and three days out. Still having a lot of pain in my belly. I had my surgery on July 10th and went home on the 13th. Felt pretty good! The next day was Sauturday and I felt bad all day! I didn't have severe pain, I just felt bad... I took a long nap and got behind on my drinking. So I started as soon as I got up from my nap...and later I got sick and threw up around 7pm. Felt worse and I went to bed kinda early at about 9:30. So I woke up at about 5am and felt worse and was in a lot of pain.... called Dr, he said go straight to the hospital. We knew I didn't have a leak, there was no blue in my drain. But anyway he pre admitted me. So when I threw up my stomach got swollen! It was excruciating! I had to stay three more days in hospital! Came back home on the 18th. and felt really good!!! Until... Sunday night!!! I leand over on my left side against cushioned couch arm to watch my kids. Didn't hurt at all. when I sat bach and straightened up... it hurt like a very back muscle pain. So a few minutes later I did the same thing (I know, I know, Dumbass)! So it was late and way past the boys bedtime. like 10:30pm, so I went to lie down with them. By that time I was shaking it hurt so bad! I didn't feel like gettig back up, so finally I just passed out. I woke up at 5am, and could not move it hurt so bad! I couldn't even breathe! Every breath in and out hurt so bad, all I could get were little shallow breaths. It took me more than ten minutes to get up off the bed! I waited til 6:30 and called the Doctor. He said he thought my tube had shifted... and I could come in for an xray and maybe they would take it out. I didn't thing I could stand the 1hr 2omin drive for a maybe, I was in severe pain! I took some extra pain med and tried to rest. The nurse called later, and by that time i had just taken more medicine, and was lying still in bed, and felt a little better. So she said if I didn't want to make the trip that I could come in the next day and she would take it out. I agreed (again, I know, dumbass) believe me, I was kicking myself all night, it was pure hell! I was in so much pain I didn't think I would make it. I took something to help me sleep... and then woke up at 3am, and got very sick. I threw up and then had dry heaves forever! I couldn't stand it. The nurse had made me an 11:45 appt. but I knew I couldn't make it until then, So i left and was there when they opened! The pulled my tube and bandaged it.. no stiches, I was suprised. I did feel a little better, but it was short lived. I guess the tube really irritated everything. I am still in bad pain! I can't even lay on my side now, which I could do before this tube incident! It just sucks! Did anyone else go through this, or experience pain this long?? I am pretty miserable!- 3 replies

Post-Op Food Question?
LauraTarry replied to Mzluvee's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oh my word, So glad you posted this, hehe I have been wanting a pickle for a week now!!! So happy to see I can have one soon! I'm only 3weeks out now. PICKLES are the bomb!! So has anyone had a green olive? Can we have those? I love sour stuff! -
Ok, so I really need help! I had my surgery on July 10th, and just got home on Friday 13th. Things went great on that day, I kept up my 5oz of liquid, felt ok..etc. Yesterday was not so great. I got really sick, tummy hurt, vomiting... I went to bed early and then got up at 3am, have been up since. The one thing I didn't get that the dr suggested was the chewable pepcid, but I felt like I had more gas and got some chewable gas-ex pills. I am so miserable and still feel sick. I know I didn't drink nearly enough yesterday either. And since I've been up, I have only had a couple of sips, I feel like I might get sick again. The dr sent me home on a liquid diet for two weeks, and almost everything I can have is sweet! Its driving me crazy. I don't know what to do. Suggestions?? I don't want to go back to the hospital.

Is Anyone Else Dealing With Lupis, Or Any Other Autoimmune Disease? Please Help!
LauraTarry posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hello all. So I have Lupis as well as Fibromyalgia! I have been trying not to think of it in regards to my surgery. However, in the back of my mind, there is the fear that having surgery will cause a flare up! I had to go off of my Plaquinil for a month, until after my surgery, which is July 10th. Its been about two weeks and I've been good until last night!!! I could feel the rain coming, my joints have been aching. And my hips are absolutely killing me! Like to the point of tears, and it takes a LOT to make me cry. My hands and arms/elbows are hurting not from typing, I have to keep stopping. I stopped taking the Plaquinil once before for a week, and it felt like I hit a wall going 90mph! That time it affected my hands and elbows and shoulders first, then I was curled up in the fetal position in so much pain I could barely think! And now its started again! Calling the doctor in the morning. And I guess they will increase pain meds, but I have done that for the last two nights and it hasn't helped! And I can't even take motrin! I want to pull my hair out! I am afraid if the increase my meds now, will they be able to control my pain after surgery? I have two little boys to take care of!! I will be staying at my parents after surgery for the first two weeks, but I can't let them do everything! My guys can wear the most entergetic people out! Getting a little upset about this tonight! I told my surgeon that nothing about the surgery scared me at all, the only thing that scared me was coming off my Plaquinil! And he said "for good reason"! AAAHHHHHHHH anyone else dealing with these issues? I could really use some support! Can't wait to get it over with and go back on my meds!!!!! And scared they will try to put me back on steroids, which have contributed to my weight gain over the last two years! Hurting, nervous, upset!- 25 replies

I had a white tongue for about a week or longer after surgery. I asked several people if it was thrush, they said no. However lots of people get Thrush afterwards. If it hurts when you swallow, he needs to call the dr.

Is Anyone Else Dealing With Lupis, Or Any Other Autoimmune Disease? Please Help!
LauraTarry replied to LauraTarry's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am praying for the same thing. I had to stop my plaquinil, which I was SO afraid of, but, knock on wood, I am OK! I had my surgery on the 10th and finally got home today. The first two days in the hospital were the worst, but feel so much better today! And I am only taking half of the pain meds I usually take!! Things are looking up! Now just trying to concentrate on getting my fluids in, I am on a liquid diet for two weeks! The worst part now is the drain, which I have for two weeks! Anyway I'm still alive, I made it! Can't wait to start losing! I haven't weighted myself because I know I gained in the hosp, because they had to give me extra fluids.... oh well, I think I'll wait until Tuesday if I can, that will be one week! Good luck everyone! I'm rooting for all of us! -
Finally home from the hospital, I didn't think I was going to make it the first two days, but I did! Feeling better now!

And by a week out, they are pretty much back to normal! Are you going to have a drain? I will have to have one for two weeks, not looking forward to that at all, but Oh man its gonna be worth it!!! A week from now we won't be thinking about any pain we might have had! Good luck to you friend! lots of prayers and well wishes coming your way from SC!! Much love girl!
