I was Low T because of my weight. When I started supplementing testosterone, I felt fantastic and got much hairier. I bought some clippers and started doing some "man-scapping". With all the weight I am losing I might take my shirt off someday. Sent from my iPad using VST

Wow, Pre-Op Vs Post-Op Meds, When Did You Get Off Meds?
BizTraveller replied to Bug's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I came off Lipitor immediately after surgery. I had to cut my blood pressure medicine in half a week post-op. At one month post-op I have had to come off my blood pressure medicine completely. I expect I will have to go back on on some blood-pressure medicine eventually. It is hereditary for me, but the sudden weight loss knocks everything out of equilibrium. Sent from my iPad using VST -

Anyone Have A Relatively Easy Recovery Story?
BizTraveller replied to Birdy18's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Let me pile on. This is a great thread. Given the way it has exploded, I think it points out that best case is pretty common. I had an easy surgery exept it was hard to pass gas because I was constipated (make sure you don't have one in the chamber when you go into surgery). After that everything was a breeze. I took a week off from work but did not need it. Zero pain, nausea or hearburn. I was walking two miles, 4 days post op. I was back to working a 60 hour week 10 days after the surgery. I get my Protein and my Water every day without much drama. I am starting to renew my social life (without beer). I am eating out occasionally to feel more normal (sashimi, Soups and seafood). I just had my 4 week post-op visit today. I am down 45 lbs since I started my pre-op diet 6 weeks ago. That is almost half way to my goal. I am taking my calories up to 1,000 a day. I am off Cholestoral and blood-pressure medicine. CPAP machine is in the trash. Leaving for a trip around the world next week. No worries. -
Traveling Post-Vsg And Managing Protein Needs

Thank you very much for this thread. I fly to Singapore 5 weeks post-op. the flight is 18 hours and 45 minutes. I will definately pack a couple of shakes. I will be ble to give plenty of advice on this soon... The next trip is London, the next Amman, and the next Santiago. That gets me to October. Sent from my iPad using VST -
I looked the nutrition up again and you are right, the Protein isn't that impressive. Sometime the data on MyFitnessPal are all over the place Sent from my iPad using VST

I agree on Sashimi. It goes down real easy. Good meatballs without the Pasta are great. Corned beef hash, browned really well to a crust, is fantastic with a poached egg. Goes down effortlessly. Just did Ceviche last night. Easy to eat and great Protein. Sent from my iPad using VST

What Was It Like The First Day After Sleeve?
BizTraveller replied to lglavish's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I woke up with no significant pain. The gas was annoying, but nothing I would call pain. I had no nausea. It took me a whie to pass urine, and a long time to pass gas. That was the only drama. It was really no big deal at all. Sent from my iPad using VST -
Yogurt was a full liquid on my plan, but all of that varies radically Doctor to Doctor Sent from my iPad using VST

male only Is This Rate Of Weight Loss Normal For A Guy?
BizTraveller posted a topic in The Guys’ Room
I am posting this in the Man's Room since guys lose weight differetly than women, so I thought I would solicit a guy's perspective. I barely had a BMI of 40 when I started this. I qualified for the surgery with a couple of co-morbidities. I started my pre-op 1,000 calorie-a-day diet at 276 lbs 28 days ago. I had my surgery 14 days ago and have been nailing my Water and getting 80 grams of Protein in every day. My post op calorie count has averaged around 800. I feel great. Just a little tired occasionally but no big deal at all. Today I weigh 240. That is 36 lbs down in 28 days. I am glad to drop the weight, but I also worked with a guy in the late 1980s that dropped weight at that rate using Optifast, and then died of heart failure while I was working a midnight shift with him. Just checking..... -
Is The Best Case Scenario Really Realistic?
BizTraveller replied to Ready4success's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The best case scenario is pretty common, but a back-up plan is a good idea. I thought the surgery wasn't big deal except for the annoying gas pain. I went home, drank my Water and hit my Protein targets in a couple of days. I went back to work easily in a week. I am 5 weeks out and I am working 60 hour weeks easily. I eat what I am supposed to and I am losing about 5 lbs a week. I have no heartburn, no pain and no drama. No foods bother me. It is not a big deal for everybody. I helped to start with that attitude. Sent from my iPad using VST -

Post Op Otc Medication
BizTraveller replied to scaredoftheunknown's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I gave myself a life-threatening stomach bleed with Advil 2 years before my sleeve. I can see why doctors do recommend it. My wife had an RNY 10 years ago and gave herself a minor ulcer with Advil. That being said, do not treat Tylenol casually. It is one of the most dangerous OTC drugs on the market if overdosed. It can cause serious liver damage at just double the normal dosage. There is nothing in the drug store that will do that much damage with a double dose. If it were submitted to the FDA today, it would not be certified as OTC. It is one of the most popular suicide drugs in Europe. Take as directed. The good news is that when you loose weight things hurt less. I have not had a headache since my sleeve, and my joints feel noticeably better just 40 lbs down. The other good news is that the surgery is not that painful. You hear horror stories on this forum, but for every horror story there are a bunch of people that fly through it. Sent from my iPad using VST -
