Here I am with another gross question, guys...forgive me. I'm now going to tell you about poop. I never had a problem with lactose in my old life at all. Or, frankly, during the liquid part of the stages. I've been on pureed for a week. Today for Breakfast I made a chocolate Protein shake with 1 tbsp of Peanut Butter, and some frozen bananas, and milk. About halfway through the morning, I found myself in the restroom. I didn't think much of it, since I'm still in the 'not really all that regular stage'. For lunch I had 3 oz. of potato puree I made. When I got home from work, I grabbed a quick snack of some cottage cheese and apple butter (maybe 1.5 oz or so), before I took my dog to the park with a friend, and on the way home, I had to run to her house, or I would have had an accident. I'm concerned that a) I'm now lactose intolerant, because, frankly, pureed food involves a lot of dairy, and I freaking love cheese. Also, was that dumping? I can't believe the cottage cheese zipped through me THAT fast? It was maybe 2 hours. Any experience with this hideousness?

I was allowed hot cereals or soggy cold cereals 2 weeks out, pureed stage. I love it for breakfast, made with a little skim milk. I put some butter and cinnamon sugar on it, or apple butter, and it's amazing.

Intolerance Vs. Dumping?

Hm. Well, I will switch to using soy or almond milk for cooking right now (which won't be too much of a problem, as my sister can't drink it, and my mom's pretty much a vegan)...but it's good to know that we can stomach lactaid and imodium. This trial and error business...oy. -

Persistent Pain Is ( Right Here ->) Getting Pertistent...

I have that too...I'm going to ask my doctor on the 3rd at my appointment. At first I thought it was an outside-stitch irritation and I was putting A&D on it like an idiot, but then I realized it was coming from INSIDE. Like a stab... -
I spanx it up every day...I have to wear suits to work every day and they let me sit down with the jacket buttoned an no pulling. Also no butt eating pants. Spanx love.

Help With Overeating
tinfoil_heroine replied to tinfoil_heroine's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Lissa - Yep, my doctor put me on an acid reducer twice a day for the first 60 or 90 days (I can't remember), but I do take it religiously, because I take seizure medicines, and I'm sure that would upset my stomach. I don't have a problem with lactose as a rule, before or after surgery. I'm just thinking I asked my poor sleeve to do a whole lot yesterday and it's retaliating on me. Remembering my water is really hard for me, but I'm trying. It seems that using a straw helps. I do eat the cottage cheese most weekdays...it's easiest to grab and eat at work. Since this is my first week of pureed, I'll probably branch out as I research. -
Sushi is one of the foods I miss the most, being a new sleever! I'll be three weeks out tomorrow...and I desperately want sushi, coffee and my wine back. (actually I could care less about the wine at this point. Just gimme my coffee and sushi. And maybe a Coke Slurpee).

Help With Overeating
tinfoil_heroine replied to tinfoil_heroine's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Okay, so review of next day...world's WORST acid reflux. But I'm taking it easy and only brought cottage cheese w/ a little apple butter and then some hummus for lunch to work today. Probably an egg for dinner, and maybe a fozen Protein shake if I feel like it. Something tells me I wasn't ready for refried beans/guacamole either. Just because it's pureed, doesn't mean I'm ready for it. Lesson learned. -
Help With Overeating

Thanks, guys! I've been measuring my food...my surgeon told me he used a 36 bougie, which was 3 ounces. I looked it up and that seems to be 6 tbsp, which seems about right for me. I think my fatal error today was I tried to eat something that wasn't mushy enough. Also : my nose ran all day, afterwards. I guess that's going to be my cue. I'm so freaking glad this forum is here because people at work think I'm out of my mind for getting sleeved anyway (except my friend who had RNY). -
Im doing mostly fine post-surgery...although I keep accidentally overeating. Today I got sick in the bathroom at work. Ugh. But otherwise, I have had no problems. I take Metro, so I don't know about the parking, but it should be good after hours?

I fear excess skin like nobody's business. I heard that weight training (to tighten the muscles holding the skin), and wearing tightening garments, probably like Spanx and the things that people who have had tummy tucks already wear, to help with elasticity also help. I'll be at the gym a lot once my tummy heals inside, and I'm headed out today to buy some unattractive foundation garments, lol. I have front butt too, and am small around my ribcage. I haven't had kids, so I'm hoping that helps with muscle tone in the abdomen area? Any experience with these?

Hi! New Girl Here...

Thanks, all! I'm excited for sure. -
Hi, everyone! I had my VSG on June 6th, and so far, so good! I'm in DC, and had it done by Dr. Daniel Tran at Howard University Hospital. He, and the rest of the staff were absolutely stellar, so if anyone on here is having surgery coming up with them, you're in good hands. I haven't had any side effects like the nausea and GERD everyone promised, although I definitely overdid it with straining myself, because my lowest belly stitch is very painful inside me. You feel so 'okay' afterwards that you forget you've had surgery! I'm so happy that I'm off the liquids and onto the pureed now...two weeks before and two weeks after was too much. I ate a cottage cheese as my first 'meal' and felt like I was in heaven. Sad, but true. About me, a bit : I'm 36, a DC area native (for real, we do exist), and I'm an executive secretary for the FBI. I've been obese since birth, basically, except for approximately 6 months in the 7th grade where I grew 4 inches and wore a size 9. It was glorious. Barring that, I have epilepsy and take medicines which keep a lot of weight on me, but I also love to eat huge portions, and that's why the VSG was great for me. I decided against the RNY when I saw my coworker get sick from taking a Sudafed because of the sugar coating. The whole dumping syndrome is really unattractive. I'm getting used to my new stomach, and I really would like to stop overeating on accident, but I suppose that will come in time. Meanwhile, I'm in love with The World According To Eggface and all her recipes, and need to make Protein shake ice cream ASAP. I'm on the hunt for new recipes for pureed foods, because I miss cooking! I weighed 368 pounds at one point in my life, and lost a lot with Weight Watchers...but can't keep it off. I don't know why I didn't get VSG sooner. Love. And that's me!
