I've always been overweight. I reached a weight of 199 by the time I was 12, right around the time my father passed away. I was verbally abused throughout my childhood up to adulthood so my self-esteem is on the lower end of the totem pole. I didn't start to consider this procedure until recently when I began to have lots of medical problems (onset of diabetes, high blood pressure, arthritis, anxiety, GERD, and a hiatal hernia just to name a few). Having reached 302 lbs for someone who is only 5 ft 1 and 3/4 inches, I'm thinking that this is my last hope for a somewhat healthy future. I'm pretty much a food addict and this process is very hard for me. I didn't realize how badly I was addicted until I started to cry over not being able to eat the foods that I usually eat whenever I feel like it.
I'm not sure how writing about this and talking about this will help but at this point I'm willing to try it.
