Well, the holidays present several issues to a bandster...me being a bit new to it all I would love advice. How do you tell people who do not know? How do you avoid the "bad" foods? How do you not smack the ral thin girl going "OMG I just wish I could eat more than this one scoop of potatoes!" (j/K)... basically how do you plan on making it through this Christmas?

I am Dizzy and I hail from Detrot. I had surgery on Sept. 8, 2003 and looking fpr a community of people experincing the same. Details: I started @ 379, now 320, and my only hope at this point is to hit the 200s. I am 5'11 and a former athlete, so finally finding the key to my weight loss has been a blessing from God. Any questions feel free to ask!!

I belonged to Curves for a few months...it was nice, but I need a little more. It might be the perfect thing for the very busy person because the workout is only 30 minutes long. My biggest thing right now is doing aerobic tapes...I really like old school funny ones. Also, the treadmill has become my bestfriend, it has helped me build up great leg strength and tightened my butt. Good luck hun and keep up the work!

No, actually I had surgery in September. I am so excited for you and your surgery Al! Main tip I want to give you is start walking as soon as they give you the clear in the hospital, it really makes you feel better. I have not heard of the Port Huron program however I am sure it is excellent. I had surgery at Beaumont Hospital with Dr. Zoe Deol (remarkable). If you need any help what so ever or just some support I will mos def be your buddy! Send me a private message whenever...GOOD LUCK

I'd love some protein and water ideas
Dizzy182 replied to knitchique's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
What has helped me the most as far as Protein has been Tofu. It has a higher level of protein than most meats at a smaller portion. I tried the shake thing and it did not work for me so...here is my alternative. Water...I always keep bottle of waters everywhere in my car, bookbag, next to my bed, and on my desk. What really helps me is that I try to make all my meals 4 hours apart so by time it is time for me to prepare a meal I try to drink about 16oz. of water. Then before bed I try to drink another 16oz. -
I say stick it out honey! Follow your doctors orders as closely as possible because you want this to be a smooth recovery...Good Luck!

I felt that way too when I had my band and my doctor reassured me that it was normal. She told me that everyone heals at their own rate, but to be safe stick to your diet. So, what I did was started always keeping my bottle of Water because often our thirst trigger our stomach. Plus you should enjoy this period of simple meals...Try everything that your doctor put on your menu so you will not get bored too quickly. Best off luck with your recovery!
