Hi, just throught I would say hello. I have a band, I've had it for 14months. I have lost weight.:myscared: But, I have MRSA. I've had it for the 14months with four weeks clear in that time. My first port was removed, as it came out through the wound. The mrsa would not let the wound heal. New port put in last may and 24hours later MRSA again. I paid for my band. It was not done on our NHS. Now I have to have the band removed, because the mrsa is not clearing up. Found this site, wondered if any body else has had their band removed? and how you coped. Mrs D

Its 1136pm here so I am off to bed feeling a bit more positive knowing there may be hope. Can I say that when the vanco was given the first two weeks it went straight into my vein then after when they od me on it they used a machine to controll its pace of selivery.Anyway thnk you. I will keep u posted tomoorw on any news. Thanks againMrs D

They did the blood test. But the "Vanc" was very slow going through. My veins kept giveing up on me! so then i had to wait for a doc to come and put another canular in. So the dosege got complete mess up. When it went in it took =1 hour and a nalf to go through. Theh all of a sudden they prduced a machine to control how fast it would go in and god did it hurt! I will check out this other drug u recomend Thanks.

hI, Yes, the band needs to be removed, I am told so the mrsa will clear up. I am allergic to the treatment of mrsa. I have to wait approx 6 months then can consider another band. But the problem is money. Here in the uk the cost of banding is high. So I need to save up all my pennies! Mrs D

Hi Mrsa is one of these superbugs. If you pick it up it is very hard to treat it and get rid of it. I picked it up after my band was put in. It is normally assosiated with dirty enviroments. Here in the UK Hospitols are battling with this super bug. It kills. I am very lucky to be alive my doc told me. I had the bug in my port wound, then the port came out through the wound, it broke through the weak skin. I had to have it removed in surgery. Then had another but in approx 4months later, and got mrsa again. Mrs D:(
