    Why Are/were You Fat?

My story has to do with my mom, she always had her own weight issues and all of my sisters are overweight too... I was skinny as it gets, then my mom got upset one day and sent me to a catholic school where it was a boarding school. i had no permission to use the phone, or go out, or talk to my friends, nothing. I gained tons of lbs... When I retired home after a year my bf just looked at me and turned around a walked away... I was heartbroken... then I lost some weight but never like I was before.... From then on I felt different than the other girls... me self esteem was crushed... then my eating habits just got stranger and had binging episodes,, etc... My mom kept on punishing me for no reason and being extra critical of everything that I did... which crushed my self esteem... problems and seeing no way out made it worse... I went to overeaters anonymous but it didn't work for me... i felt worse going.... Then I just got depressed... Then someone recommended this surgery...
  4. This also happened to me as well. I wasn't sure I could do it when I had already paid half the money but then I realized why I took the decision in the first place and remembered how I didn't want to feel. I remembered that it is a pattern of mine to pull back every time somethings too good to be true in a way. I decided that if it was only fear that was stopping me I wan't going to let it.

    August Sleevers?! Where Ya's At?

i am also getting sleeved in August! Almost here! I can't wait either. So exited! I wish you all luck and happiness. I am getting sleeved in Mexico by Dr. Henry Manzur. Talk to you on the other side!
  6. Hi of course it depends on many things but is the sleeve a pretty successful weight loss method? I am just wondering...
  7. I am very nervous about the surgery and the strict diet afterwards. Anybody else feel this way? I don´t know if I am going to be able to follow the dietary guidelines etc...

    Survival On Pre-Op Diet

I can't say because my doc didn't give me a pre op diet! But I am thinking about doing one by myself anyway. All I can say is if you are doing that well keep it up !
  9. That's awsome, I have been anticipating this moment for a long time. It like weight has always been my main problem stuck in the cycle, so it is hard for my mind to get that it won't be as tough anymore I guess that's what's happening. Thanks to both of you I will keep my hopes up

    Tomorrow Is My Day.

Good luck to you both! Don't worry. Everything's going to be AMAZING!
  11. Yes it does! I guess since I am about to get the surgery I feel it is almost too good to be true, so that's why I am still pinching myself. The thing is that because I got the Lap Band and it barely made a difference, I am a little hesitant about this working. But I think this is a far better procedure than the lap band because, 1. The absence of the hormone, and 2. You actually feel full not unable to eat.
  12. I totally get how you are feeling, I am going through the mental part of this whole thing without professional counseling but I am managing to stay calm focused and cheerful thanks to this site. My family is not supporting me with this decision so you can imagine how hard it is for me with this. I think we have to be mentally ready for this before we undergo sugery. I have grown from this experience and I haven´t even ha the sugery yet! Birdie18 just think first things first. First I believe is getting ready mentally, then emotionally, then gathering strength to do this the best way, at least that´s what I´ve been doing. I think we all here understand what you mean about the weight loss fails... but don´t give up on something you can´t go a day without thinking about! I think you can do it!

Soooo Happy I Have The Sleeve

I will join you soon! With faith and good luck in a couple months I will be here where you are! Can´t wait to feel like you do! Congratulations to all of you "Happy Sleevers""
  14. I really needed to hear all this! This is so helpful. I am much less nervous and I already started packing my bags for the sugery tonight. My date is until the last days of Aug, but I am so exited I want to start "getting ready"-- I CAN DO THIS ! I know I can do it the right way thanks to all of you. <3 Wish me luck! ;D
  15. Thanks I really needed to hear that. I guess I expect to be as "hungry" all the time as I am now, I guess if will not be the same. I am just going to go for it and expect the best. Knowing that everything will be different and I will too.
  16. Hello everyone how are you? I am new around here and I seem to like hanging out here a lot... I am Mexican and I will get my sleeve done here this year... I am a little nervous but super exited. How have your experiences been?
  17. hello VS Friends! I am about to get my surgery done in my hometown of Monterrey, Mexico in a few months. For all you folks traveling South for surgery and may need some assistance let me know & if I can help I will.
  18. I have been approved recently and I trust my doctor very much. For some reason, I am just feeling general anxiety about the whole thing. I want to get my sleeve done asap but I must wait a couple of months till I gather all the resources because I will self pay. Before this I got the "Gastric Plication" before my Sleeve so the cost is a bit higher because they must undo the Plication first. I guess for me it is just too good to be true. My friends say every time I am about to accomplish something big I start to doubt myself. I guess it is a bad habit of mine but I just wanted to share and see if you had any suggestions for me.
  19. Well I don´t know the exact answer to your question but I can guess it depends on the doctor´s policy. Each doctor has their own private "style". I think it also depends on the kind of surgery you are going to get, like if it is a bypass I may think that you need 3 days of clear liquid. All I know is that you need your stomach empty so it just depends on the client and the case.
  20. Of course not. I am just trying to help my VS community because I know my way around here, that´s all. I am just talking about quick tips.

    Should I Get Surgery?

Hi I recommend getting it done in Mexico. I will be doing mine here because I am mexican (duh! ) but yes a lot of doctors are really nice and VERY experienced. I would also suggest not gaining that much weight because I actually did it and it is a little dumb because I feel so uncomfortable and my surgery is not until a few months from now. Get my point? I have to look heavier for the whole summer and nothing fits, I have to walk around with pants bc of that. The only upside is that I will get the surgery this year and everything will change soon, but I feel so uncomfortable right now. I strongly suggest not doing what I did and just find a doc that will do it with the weight you have. good luck! If you need advice for Mexico let me know!
  22. I understand what you mean when you say I am not afraid to die. I think it is a relatively safe surgery compared to most of the other more invasive ones. It is the safest one of the most effective ones. I now what you mean about the shopping also, I can´t wait to be able to enjoy all of life´s gifts from a more healthy perspective. You will feel amazing soon I am sure. When are your getting yours?
  23. You JUST had your surgery! It has been so little time and you´re already feeling FINE! I can´t wait to get mine! I didn´t know that was a possibility thanks for telling me that can happen. I am so thankful for the motivation. They have recently approved me and I am so delighted. Good luck with the rest of your journey.xoxo
  24. Yes I agree health should come from the inside out! Yes I am thinking of entering Martial Arts once I get me surgery done. I think I will feel more confident and more able to preform those exercises. I am glad I found this site. It is so supportive.
  25. Thank you so much for sharing this with me. I am so glad you are doing awesome! I feel the SAME. I am sick & tired and it is like what I am going through right now is not me. Like if getting the sleeve is meant to be. My family is not supportive because they think it is even more dangerous and silly and that I should continue to go on with my life feeling the way I feel and not do anything about it. The good thing is that my girlfriends have been very supportive during this process. They will be there for me every step on the way. I know there is so much more out there I can enjoy if I just start to be proactive about this. I wish I will feel like you once I get mine.
