Yep. I called the preauthorization number on the back of my card and they have me the info. My doctor requires the letter before scheduling surgery.
-
I have Anthem BCBS CA and it took only took three days to get approval, which I just got yesterday! I don't have the letter yet, but found out I was approved when I called to check the status. I hope yours gets approved quickly too!

Made the taco cupcakes for the first time tonight. So incredibly good!!! I had a hard time finding the chili oil too. Took some searching, but finally tracked it down amongst a bunch of other bottles of oil in Asian section. It was so worth the hunt.

The only thing that is freaking me out about the post op diet is the idea of eating puréed meat of any sort. Am I alone in this? Are there enough other options during that stage so that I can avoid this?

I have the same insurance too, and would love to know exactly what your doctor had to submit for you. Congrats on the quick approval! I so hope mine is quick once submitted.

You look fantastic!

What I Won't Miss About Being Fat...
newkat12 replied to justmeandmysleeve's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
What a great list! I haven't been sleeved yet, but am working through the process and trying to lose the required weight before surgery. I work from home and have been sitting here wanting to eat ALL AFTERNOON. This post just got me over that because it reminded why I'm on this journey. Thank you justmenandmysleeve!!! -
Wow! You look amazing. What a transformation!

What a happy thought! Fingers crossed my insurance approves and this is the last 4th of July for me at this weight too! -
Sounds really good. Love the idea of mixing hidden valley ranch seasoning into the yogurt.

Stressful Day...and I Turned To Food
newkat12 replied to newkat12's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Reporting in that I had a great day today. Stuck with my meal plan and had a really good workout at the gym. Thanks again to everyone who provided words of encouragement. It was just what I needed! I'm still getting used to talking about weight loss and being honest when I have a bad day. I usually just suffer in silence because I'm so mad at myself and embarassed. Just about all of my friends and family members are thin and it's impossible to talk to someone who thinks having 10 pounds to lose is a big deal. I have to say I'm actually looking forward to my psych consult. Pretty sure it is going to be more helpful than I think. -
I am feeling so guilty. I had a really stressful day and what did I do? Yep, you guessed it. I turned to food. Carbs specifically. I am just starting on this journey. I've had all of my initial appointments and just need to have my psych consult, attend a support group and keep a food journal and show a pattern of weight loss. I was off to such a great start and have lost 14 lbs. in the past few weeks eating low carb/high protein. Today I completely fell off the wagon and ate a bunch of crackers and 3 mini ice cream sandwiches. Ugh! So mad at myself. I decided to note it all in my food journal, so I'm sure I'll hear about it from the nutritionist next week at my check in. If I'm this weak, how am I ever going to be successful even with the sleeve???

Stressful Day...and I Turned To Food
newkat12 replied to newkat12's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Thanks everyone for the positive reinforcement! I'm back on the wagon today, upping my water intake (thanks for the suggestion PEvette!), and going to the gym to work off some of those carbs. -
You look great! You've got a great sister to help you see how your hard work has paid off. Totally agree on the cute dress too.

So happy the surgery went well for you! You have such a positive attitude. I'm sure you'll be extrordinarily successful!

Amazing list! LMD, I have been reading so many of your posts. You are an inspiration. I hope to have the same success as you. -
Hi all! I'm brand new here. I'm just staring my WLS journey. I've been to a seminar, completed reams of paperwork detailing my health and weight loss attempts over the years (good times!), met with the practice nurse and had my first meeting with the surgeon. Next week I meet with the nutritionist, exercise physiologist and practice director. I'm on my way! I'm still deciding between the lap band and VSG, but right now I'm leaning towards VSG. I'd love feedback from anyone who's made that choice and insight into your decision-making process. Enough about that...who am I? I'm 43 years old and newly married to an amazing man. I have three step children, ages 8, 11 and 14. That's been a big change! In three years it's gone from me and my adorable dog to a husband and three step children. What a wonderful change in my life. I have a really demanding job as a sales engineer for a software company, which means I travel a lot and am rarely in charge of my own schedule. This has made all of my attempts at weight loss very challenging. Hobbies...the sad truth is that I don't have many due to my work schedule, but I'd love to find some new ones! It's my goal to make working out a hobby I enjoy and look forward to on a daily basis. I love to read and travel. In the past few months my husband and I have gone to Mexico and Maui, and we just got back from a trip to Orlando with the kids. I'm really looking forward to getting to know others on this site and to learn from your experiences. I can't wait to get WLS so I can finally get my weight under control. I'm at the best place ever personally and professionally. Now I just need to get heathly so I can enjoy this life for a long, long time.
