I had to do liquids pre-op for 2 weeks and felt HORRIBLE for the first 3-4 days. Then, all of a sudden I was so energized and felt great for the duration. Hang in there....it gets better!

I was sleeved on July 2nd. Doing well, everything gives me a stomach ache but soup, though. Sooooo, I'm just eating soup. Down 27 lbs since surgery plus 20 lbs from the 2 weeks liquid diet before. Hopefully I'll lose 3 this week and hit 50 lbs. How are you????

Congrats on the weight loss! I was sleeved on July 2nd also. I had my one month visit 3 days ago and my doctor said all is good. I don't go back now until the end of September. He put me on phase 3 which includes deli shaved meats, ground beef, peanut butter, toast, crackers and cheese, etc. However, everything hurts to eat but soup, so I'm sticking with soup. So far I've lost 23 lbs post surgery. I feel pretty good. I swim 2-3 days a week for exercise, but I work in radiology so I'm running around at work all day, which is good too. Keep up the good work and congratulations again!!

Words Of Encouragement Needed Please
tarakuk commented on Thyckness718's blog entry in Thyckness718's Blog
That's totally normal. The minute I got my approval and surgery date, I ate whatever I wanted. And the day before my 2 week pre-op liquid diet, I had grilled Steak! However, once 6-18-12 hit, I started my 2 weeks of liquids and lost 20 lbs. Had surgery on 7-2-12 and have lost 22 more lbs. You will completely be ready when you have that date set. Good luck to you!!! -
That's a pretty harsh plan. So I guess you're a dependant since your husband carries the policy, which means they won't cover it?

It took me almost a year to make the decision. I am now 12 days post surgery and feel pretty good. I'm a little tired, but since my 2 week pre-op liquid diet, I've lost 38 lbs. I wasn't sure if I was going to share my surgery with my friends either, but I decided to and it was the best decision. I've had nothing but support!!! A couple of work friends even did liquids only the 2 weeks before surgery with me. It is a huge decision to make so definitely list your pros and cons. Good luck to you with whichever path you choose.

I'm 12 days post surgery. I was told no alcohol for a year. I don't know about cake though. It's a lot of sugar which could make you feel bad. Good luck and Happy Birthday! -
In Hospital Just Got Sleeved And Have Question
tarakuk replied to mom23's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I burped a lot immediately, and still do 10 days post-surgery. Didn't actually pass gass until 3 or 4 days later. I feel just fine now. I was walking the first night...I don't know if that helped me or not. Good luck! -
I Got My Date, August 28Th, And I'm Terrified.

I'm 10 days post surgery. I've lost 33 lbs and I feel fine! Everything's going to be alright! (and I'm not lying) -
I habe BCBS of Minnesota, which doesn't help you at all....but call the customer service number on the back of your card and ask if they cover weight loss surgery. They should be able to tell you everything they cover and if you need a 6 month doctor supervised weight loss plan first. Hope this helps!

If the insurance company says your plan does not require a 6 month diet, it's not required. I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't cover the sleeve though, especially since it's kind of new. Your patient advocate will be able to find out more. I did have to do the 6 month diet with my Blue Cross Blue Shield, and then it took another 10 days for the authorization after that...not too bad. Good luck to you!

Is Anyone Else On The Optifast Shakes For Pre-Op?
tarakuk replied to Mommy2three's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had to do liquids for 2 weeks. I felt like crap for the first 3 days, but then was just fine. I had Atkins Advantage premixed for breakfast everyday. I also bought 1st Phorm powder mix and had 1 or 2 a day. I didn't have any food though and drank water w/ crystal light. I was supposed to drink 5-8 shakes a day, but couldn't do that...ugh. In those 2 weeks I lost 20.8 lbs and as of tomorrow I will be 1 week post-op. Hang in there...it gets easier! -
You can do it! I had 2 weeks pre-op diet and lost 20.8 lbs. The first 2-3 days were very hard, but then it got way easier. Having a great support system is super helfpul too!
