Hi All, I have been reading the site for awhile and have decided to join. I started my process in Sept. 2011 and my surgery is scheduled for July 3rd. My insurance required that I do a 6 month diet which at first I didn't want to do this but now I am thankful for doing it. I am currently on a 15 day pre-op diet of protein shakes. I am excited to have my surgery. I enjoy reading all the comments and suggestions. Is there anyone else that is having surgery in July?

I had my surgery about 5 weeks ago. I was wondering if anyone else gets shoulder pain. I had this right out of surgery but not sure why I am still getting it on occasion. It is usually after I eat.

Hi TracyW2, Have you met your goal weight? You look really god in your pics. It looks like you lost a lot of weight. Congrats!

Once you make the decision to do this the time flies quick. Is your surgeon in Rockford? Good luck to you!

I had my surgery 11 days ago and had some pain on my left side near my port. The pain reduced a lot but now I have a lot of pain in this area again. It feels like it is even more painful then before. Is this normal? I have been doing a lot of errands and standing the last few days. I could barely bend last night when I went to bed. Just wondering. Not sure if I should call the doctor.

I had the same issue. I didn't have pain but I was so nausea. I took a pill called Zovran and it helped me. I had this feeling for 4 days, the 5th day I was much better. I hope you feel better soon. I know the feeling you are having and it stinks!

I didn't take any pain meds at home, although I was given liquid pain meds. I was lucky when it came to pain I guess. I did have a lot of nausea though. I also had headaches due to lack of caffeine.

P.S. I lost 5 lbs since my surgery.

I had my surgery on the 3rd. I am doing good. I had little gas pain which is great from what I am hearing online. I did have several days of feeling nauseau(sp?). I don't have much energy or desire to do anything. I have pretty much moved from the bed to the couch. I really need to work on my mental being. I have to give myself shots each day but it isn't all that bad. I am hungry a lot and I wake up starving around 5 each morning. I can tell that I am getting better each day but I hate the thought of going back to work :-(

My surgery is tomorrow also. I have to be at the hospital at 5:30 a.m. I can't wait. I just hope I don't have a lot of pain since I don't do pain well. Lol. Good luck!

Cool! I hope my surgery goes this well. How long do you plan on being off work(if u work, that is).

You didn't have to spend the night. I know I have to spend the night so I will be home on the 4th. I hope you are not in a lot of pain. Hope you have a good night.

Hi all, wondering how long after the surgery did you have to see the doctor again. Also, is the next appt. after that just for the fill? I have taken so much time off work for all the pre surgery appt.s that I can't wait until these are over. My surgery is coming up on Tuesday, July 3rd and I can't wait!

Where are you from? Rockford, Il When is your surgery? July 3rd...2 days away!!!!!! What excites you most about the surgery? Being able to buy clothes in the regular size department. When I was a kid I actually bought clothes in the " chubby" department.... Yes that is what it was called. What scares you the most? Nothing.... I am so excited. When I first started the process I would come one from work sick to my stomach from stressing out about this. I finally decided if I am going to do this then let's do it. I am no longer scared.

I have only told my husband(obviously) and my in-laws. I am taking vacation time at work. I think people wonder why I keep going to the doctor. Lol I don't want to hear negative thoughts from others. It is a big decision and I am happy about doing this. I feel like I need positive thoughts going into my surgery. You need to do what is best for you.

It has taken me awhile to figure out how to use this site. Thanks to all that responded to me. Aschap13....I have been a picky eater all my life so the 6 mos. diet was hard at first. I ate a lot of yogurt and chicken. I also allowed myself one treat which was ice cream (skinny cow). I am a huge sweet eater. It helped talking to the dietian (sp). The shakes started out bad for me. I mixed the powder with water and it was really bad. I figured out if you mix yogurt,powder,fruit and water....they can actually be good. I used frozen pineapples, strawberries and blueberries. Do you live in the Rockford area?
