About Me

  • Gender
    Female
  1. Hello! Here are some before and current photos of me 8 months post surgery. My starting weight was 383 and I have lost 100lbs, and I still have about 130 to go...
  2. Hello! I have gone to numerous grocery stores and I keep seeing Dreamfields Healthy Carb Living pasta. While a 2oz serving has 41 carbs, they said that there are only 5 carbs because those are the only digestible carbs (the other carbs are fiber or protected carbs, whatever thise are). I am a pasta LOVER, but I'm also a skeptic. 5 carbs in a bowl of pasta?? Has anyone spoken to their NUT or doctor about this or tried the pasta themselves?

    120Lbs Unreasonable?

Um, I need to lose 230! Im down about 80, so Im about a third of the way there. I know that since I started much heavier than you, it makes sense i need to lose more, but you should be fine with 120!

    5 Confessions (Join In)

    - During my 7 week stall recently, I began getting discouraged and started making less than desirable food choices (too many carbs, not enough protein, not enough calories...) - I've lost 80 lbs in just under 5 months and I'm not even happy because all I think about is how much MORE I have to lose (about 150lbs) - I exercise frequently, but I NEVER walk (which is one of the best things we can do) because I find its so boring and it takes too long - my weight loss motivation is partly driven by some petty, vain things (knowing that Im going to see some of my least favorite people in the near future, wanting to get positive comments and compliments on pictures posted on Facebook, etc)

    Stalls:(

I am 4.5 months out of surgery, and I have had two stalls. The first stall was at about 2 weeks out and lasted a week, and my second stall began September 5th and lasted until...drumroll please...YESTERDAY! Yes, I bounced between 6 pounds for about 6.5 weeks. It has really sucked. I had tried changing my eating and exercising habits and amounts, but nothing worked. I was bouncing between 311 and 317 this whole time. Yesterday, I was 308 when I woke up, but I didn't get excited because I'd been trucked before. Today I was 305! Long story short, stalls can happen often and randomly, and like everyone said, just ride it out!

    No -One Responds!

I had my surgery on a Wednesday, and I went back to work Monday! I only work about 4 hours a day in the office so it wasn't that bad, but everyone's different. And I didn't have a choice if I wanted to stay overnight! Each surgeon has their own rules, but mine required that I stay overnight and I couldn't leave until I could get down Breakfast and lunch the next day. Good luck!

    Whats Wrong With Me?/

This seems a tad aggressive! I'm not speaking for him, but I think he was only trying to share some helpful advice. A lot of people post here when they are desperate for answers, so expect to get some!

    4 Month Update...

Good luck on your surgery! The first few weeks might be tough, but its a lot of fun when you are getting into more a d more clothes that wouldn't have fit prior to surgery!

    4 Month Update...

I DEFINITELY carry most of my weight in my mid section (not that every other part of me is small)! I do a bootcamp that focuses on a different body part each day if the week, but one day of abs definitely isn't enough! I've been spending extra time on abs and obliques. Hopefully that'll help!
  11. Like everyone else has been saying, a few lucky people might get most of their weight off in 6 months, but most of us will take a lot longer. My doc said I could be at 155 from 383 within 18 months. If I were to lose all my extra weight in six months, I'd have to lose almost 10 pounds a week every week for 6 months. I wish!
  12. I created a thread about just this a few weeks ago. I've lost 75lbs and I'm 4 months since surgery and I've lost about ONE pants size. I went from a loose 26 to a comfortable 24. I can still wear most of my pre-surgery pants, I just have to throw on a belt. When you hear of a 75 lb loss, you would assume that you would drop many many sizes, but that's not always the case. A bunch of people on this site told me some helpful things. 1. You may be losing more from one area of the body than another (ex: more from thighs/arms than mid-section), 2. Larger clothing sizes are further apart meaning you have to lose more weight to go from 24 to a 22 than you would need to lose to go from a 4 to a 2, 3. If you're taller, there's more body surface to lose from so it won't be as drastic immediately as if you were shorter. These are just a few things to remember. I COMPLETELY get why you're a little bummed. I have to remind myself of all these tips daily when I'm still putting on my huge pants.

    Stall Solution?

How ironic that you're at a loss since you're not losing... And everyone else, I'm allowed to say this to her...she's my mom!
