Hello! I have gone to numerous grocery stores and I keep seeing Dreamfields Healthy Carb Living pasta. While a 2oz serving has 41 carbs, they said that there are only 5 carbs because those are the only digestible carbs (the other carbs are fiber or protected carbs, whatever thise are). I am a pasta LOVER, but I'm also a skeptic. 5 carbs in a bowl of pasta?? Has anyone spoken to their NUT or doctor about this or tried the pasta themselves?

I Want To See Before & After Pics!
Linds324 replied to Christina760's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Hello! Here are some before and current photos of me 8 months post surgery. My starting weight was 383 and I have lost 100lbs, and I still have about 130 to go... -
Um, I need to lose 230! Im down about 80, so Im about a third of the way there. I know that since I started much heavier than you, it makes sense i need to lose more, but you should be fine with 120!

5 Confessions (Join In)

- During my 7 week stall recently, I began getting discouraged and started making less than desirable food choices (too many carbs, not enough protein, not enough calories...) - I've lost 80 lbs in just under 5 months and I'm not even happy because all I think about is how much MORE I have to lose (about 150lbs) - I exercise frequently, but I NEVER walk (which is one of the best things we can do) because I find its so boring and it takes too long - my weight loss motivation is partly driven by some petty, vain things (knowing that Im going to see some of my least favorite people in the near future, wanting to get positive comments and compliments on pictures posted on Facebook, etc) -
Where Is Everyone From?

I am 4.5 months out of surgery, and I have had two stalls. The first stall was at about 2 weeks out and lasted a week, and my second stall began September 5th and lasted until...drumroll please...YESTERDAY! Yes, I bounced between 6 pounds for about 6.5 weeks. It has really sucked. I had tried changing my eating and exercising habits and amounts, but nothing worked. I was bouncing between 311 and 317 this whole time. Yesterday, I was 308 when I woke up, but I didn't get excited because I'd been trucked before. Today I was 305! Long story short, stalls can happen often and randomly, and like everyone said, just ride it out!

I had my surgery on a Wednesday, and I went back to work Monday! I only work about 4 hours a day in the office so it wasn't that bad, but everyone's different. And I didn't have a choice if I wanted to stay overnight! Each surgeon has their own rules, but mine required that I stay overnight and I couldn't leave until I could get down Breakfast and lunch the next day. Good luck!

Whats Wrong With Me?/
Linds324 replied to newgrandmother's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This seems a tad aggressive! I'm not speaking for him, but I think he was only trying to share some helpful advice. A lot of people post here when they are desperate for answers, so expect to get some! -
Hello, all! I'm Lindsay, and I will be exactly 4 months post-op tomorrow. I'm about 75 lbs out, so I thought it'd be a good time to post progress pictures. Here are some facts: Date of surgery: 6/6/2012 Age: 25 Height: 5'11 Highest weight: 383 Weight on date of surgery: 368 Current weight: bouncing between 308 and 315 for the last FIVE WEEKS. ANNOYING. Approximate weight loss: 70-75 lbs Goal weight from my doc: 150-155 Weight left to lose: about 150-155 (eeek) HIghest pants size: 26 Current pants size: 22(tight)/24 I've posted a few times on this site how I'm frustrated that 75lbs lost= one pants size drop for me, but lots of you gave a lot of great insight (larger sizes are further spaced apart than lower sizes, since I'm tall, theres more area to lose from, etc). I've taken lots of progress pics in different outfits, but in these pics, Im trying on a size xxl shirt from Old Navy that fit years ago but had been way too tight recently (as you'll see in the pic, I couldnt even pull it down over my stomach). The jeans are a size 22 that were always a bit snug, but I chalked it up to them being skinny fit...yeah right. Before surgery, they werent even close to buttoning. The first picture was taken the week before surgery in early june, the middle picture is mid-august, and the last picture was taken today. It doesn't fit perfectly, but its progress! And please excuse that horribly offensive first shot where my stomach and underwear is exposed. Not cute.

Good luck on your surgery! The first few weeks might be tough, but its a lot of fun when you are getting into more a d more clothes that wouldn't have fit prior to surgery!

I DEFINITELY carry most of my weight in my mid section (not that every other part of me is small)! I do a bootcamp that focuses on a different body part each day if the week, but one day of abs definitely isn't enough! I've been spending extra time on abs and obliques. Hopefully that'll help!

Does Wl Really Stop At 6 Mos?!
Linds324 replied to Blugirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Like everyone else has been saying, a few lucky people might get most of their weight off in 6 months, but most of us will take a lot longer. My doc said I could be at 155 from 383 within 18 months. If I were to lose all my extra weight in six months, I'd have to lose almost 10 pounds a week every week for 6 months. I wish! -
How Many Lbs Needed To Lose To Drop A Pants Size?
Linds324 replied to N/A's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I created a thread about just this a few weeks ago. I've lost 75lbs and I'm 4 months since surgery and I've lost about ONE pants size. I went from a loose 26 to a comfortable 24. I can still wear most of my pre-surgery pants, I just have to throw on a belt. When you hear of a 75 lb loss, you would assume that you would drop many many sizes, but that's not always the case. A bunch of people on this site told me some helpful things. 1. You may be losing more from one area of the body than another (ex: more from thighs/arms than mid-section), 2. Larger clothing sizes are further apart meaning you have to lose more weight to go from 24 to a 22 than you would need to lose to go from a 4 to a 2, 3. If you're taller, there's more body surface to lose from so it won't be as drastic immediately as if you were shorter. These are just a few things to remember. I COMPLETELY get why you're a little bummed. I have to remind myself of all these tips daily when I'm still putting on my huge pants. -
How ironic that you're at a loss since you're not losing... And everyone else, I'm allowed to say this to her...she's my mom!

One Of My Weight Loss Goals!
Linds324 replied to JaspersGirl's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
HA congrats! I can't wait to dress like a normal 25 year old when I go out and not like an old lady. No more layers, long sleeves, and flats. -
Thank you so much again for the extremely kind words. I can't wait until the fourth picture is one of me holding out the waist of the jeans to show a large gap! The abroad program I did in college, semester at sea, is having a big 5 year reunion cruise leaving on January third, so I'm going to try to lose 40-45 more pounds by then...fingers crossed! I'm not in love with the idea of hitting a Mexican beach with a bunch of friends I haven't seen in 5 years. The goal is to at least look decent in a sarong!

So I had surgery on June 6th of this year and I have lost 70 pounds so far. 70 pounds, yay! No. NOT yay. When I think of 70 pounds lost, I think of total body transformation. Even though I havn't seen much of a difference, my family (including my mom who had the same surgery a month later) says they can definitely see some change. With the exception of a FEW loose fitting sweats, my clothes have all been fitting pretty much the same as before surgery. I've been chalking it up to the fact that I really only wear yoga pants/leggings/sweats etc, so those stretch or shrink to your body even if your weight fluctuates. Tonight I found the jeans that I wore a lot before surgery. I got so excited because I just KNEW that there was no way those babies were gonna stay up when I tried them on. THEY STAYED UP JUST FINE. They fit like a normal pair of pants. NOOOO! I was so pissed all day because of it. Because Im such a high weight (was 383, now 313), I know 70 pounds lost wont look as drastic as 70 pounds off of someone who was starting at 200 pounds, but come on. This is nuts.

Thanks so much, everyone! As everyone says, photos really do help to see progress. I look in the mirror and I barely see any differences, but the pictures definitely make it clear. Again, all of the kind words help during this whole process, so thanks again!

I am technologically challenged and I had no idea how to attach more than one picture, so I opened up all of the pics in my iPhoto, and then I just took a screenshot of my desktop (shift + command + 3 on a mac) which turns it into a picture.
-
Those are actually all really good points that I didn't think of before, especially the one about my jeans probably being tight before surgery. The majority of my clothes, pants especially, were too snug, so I got used to that being my "normal" fit for clothes. At least I get to put off spending more money on new clothes for a while! Thanks so much again for the words of wisdom and positive thoughts!
-
thanks so much for the encouragement! I can't wait until I can toss those things in the giveaway pile.

Sometimes when I see that people with lower BMI's have lost around the same as me, yet will be at goal in like 30 pounds, I can't help but get a tad jealous. Bad, I know.
-
My surgery was June 6th, and I'm down 68 pounds. Sometimes I get down because I have soooo much more to go (about 160 lbs) until goal, so I have to constantly remind myself to take it one pound at a time.
