I Feel Helpless...
PrincessDaffodil replied to PrincessDaffodil's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
That is a good idea, Sarsar. Although, one reason I don't/can't exercise is because of my CSF (Cerebral Spinal Fluid) pressure headaches. They have subsided some this past week, so I think I should be able to walk on the treadmill some next week. With the heat outside, I'm sure it will be best for me to stay indoors! I just need to take it easy, because if I do too much activity my headaches will be back and I will be laid up in bed again for a week or more. They are one of the reasons I am getting weight loss surgery. Hopefully loosing the excess weight will balance out my CSF pressure again. But, I am sure that walking some will keep my mind off of things. Thanks for the suggestion. -
I Feel Helpless...

I bought some EAS and Muscle Milk shakes so that I can start "practicing" with those. Another thing I need to practice is to not drink and eat at the same time. That has become such a habit for me, I thought I better start trying to change it now. I am also cutting back on my caffeine intake each day so that I won't be so addicted to it by the time I have surgery. Instead of 2 cups of coffee, I am drinking only one. Instead of 3 glasses of tea, I am having 1. Then I drink water or sugar-free drinks for the rest of the day (usually water though). Hopefully in a week I'll won't be drinking anymore coffee and I will have switched to decaf tea. I usually have headaches if I don't drink caffeine, so I didn't want to just quit cold-turkey. I am going to call the Dr's office in the morning and see what else needs to be done. If there is nothing else that I need to do, I guess I will just have to suck it up and wait. I will check in with the insurance company tomorrow too. I just don't like waiting, I never have. Once I've made up my mind on something, I expect the world to be as ready as I am. LOL! -

Now That Summer Is Almost Here, Has Evryone Gotten Their Surgery Date?
PrincessDaffodil replied to momoffive's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I teach at an elementary school, so I am definitely not going to tell the kids. Plus, I teach music, which means I teach the whole school and don't have just one small class. There are 2 co-workers that are good friends, so I will be telling them when the surgery is scheduled. However, for everyone else (including the principal), I'm just going to wait until they bring it up to me. I'm not going to lie about it, just wait until I'm asked. Creedmoor is north-east of Raleigh, NC. We live out in the country and I work out in the country too. I love it. But, a short car ride and you can be at the coast or in the mountains! We have such pretty seasons here too. -
Uploading Picturers?
PrincessDaffodil replied to ProudGrammy's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Is it too big of a file? The only problem I had when adding my avatar picture is that I thought it wasn't uploaded because I couldn't see the picture after I hit submit. I had to go back to my profile to make sure it was there. I thought I was doing something wrong, but it all worked out in the end. -
May Sleevers How Much Have You Lost So Far?
PrincessDaffodil replied to Preacher's Wife's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Don't be down on yourself Debi! I'm impressed with 15 pounds in 1 1/2 months. I can't do that on my own. Could you have done it on your own before your VSG? Everyone is different. Keep it up! You can do it! -
Today was my first appointment at the Weight Loss Center. I was completely prepared to discuss everything involved with LapBand surgery, which I did. However, the Dr. suggested that I have a Sleeve Gastrectomy instead. I am seriously considering it, because one of my main goals is that I will be allowed to get pregnant after loosing the weight. He said that a sleeve will still allow the baby to get the nutrition that it needs during pregnancy. Plus, I won't have to go in for fills and adjustments, and I will lose the weight a lot faster. Therefore, I will actually be able to try getting pregnant sooner than if I have the LapBand. The post-surgery diet is exactly the same with either procedure. Any thoughts on Sleeve vs. LapBand?

Who Are You Telling?
PrincessDaffodil replied to EileenFrances's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hahaha! I just asked this question on another post. I should have read ahead. At work, I think I might wait until someone brings it up. Although, I have two close friends who I think will be hurt if they find out "through the grapevine", so I'll go ahead and tell them once I get a surgery date. I haven't even told my family yet (hubby and son know, of course). Is it shellfish of me to just want them to see the new me at our next family gathering and be surprised? -

Hi all, I am still waiting on a date. I sure hope that it is before I go back to school on August 20. I would really prefer it to be 3 weeks before that, so I can be on soft foods by then. Are you telling everyone at work about your VSG? I think I might wait until someone brings it up. I haven't even told my family yet (hubby and son know, of course). I just want them to see the new me at our next family gathering and be surprised! -

Ready For The Change

Good luck to you. I, too, am glad to have found this forum and am happy that the VSG seems to be the perfect compromise between a Lap Band and Gastric Bypass. I look forward to your journey continuing. -
Ready To Get This Surgery!
PrincessDaffodil replied to cjloveydovey's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I went to my first dr's visit hoping to get a lap band. My dr suggested the vsg instead, for multiple reasons. After researching and talking to folks (I love this site), I am excited about this and I'm sure I'll be happy I listened to him! -

How do you get a "sample" pack, rather than buying a whole pack of just one flavor? -

Sleeve Vs. Lapband
PrincessDaffodil replied to PrincessDaffodil's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I knew I didn't want gastric bypass as well. The whole idea of it frightened me. I know 2 people with Lap Bands, neither one has had complications from it. However, 1 has lost a lot of weight 100+ pounds, and the other hasn't been very successful. My hubby and I have a 10 year old son, and we have been trying for baby #2 for 8 years. We believe that part of the reason we have been so unsuccessful the second time is because of how much weight I have gained since having our son. We got pregnant on the first try with him! Although, the MAIN reason I want to have weight loss surgery is for my health. I have been having problems with my CSF pressure. Which has been causing me to have headaches, non-stop, since March. The doctors think that part of the reason I am having headaches is because of recent weight gain. I have never been very successful at weight loss, and now with headaches holding me back, some days I can't even get out of bed. How am I supposed to get up and exercise like that!?! I am getting all of my testing taken care of and so far everything is looking good for me to go ahead with the surgery. Just waiting on paperwork and a few more lab results now (I HOPE)! -

I have been finding the same research. Although, I never even THOUGHT of what the port would look like after loosing weight! That sounds horrible. Thank you for sharing that, I will include that in my research now too. -
