Ideas For Full Liquid Stage...
PrincessDaffodil replied to learning to fly's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You guys are allowed to have yogurt and pudding!?! NO FAIR! I am on liquids right now (1 week post-op), and I can't have those things until the soft foods stage - 3 weeks out. I'm having a variety consisting of 2 ounces of: carnation instant breakfast mixed with silk whey protein shakes water (flavored and unflavored) chicken, beef, and veggie broth juice (50/50 with water) decaf unsweet tea/coffee sugar-free ice pops To give the broth flavor, I like to cook it on the stove with carrots, celery, onion, and spices. Then I put it through the strainer to get rid of the veggies pieces. It adds a lot of flavor. I wish I had more options too, though. -
Post-Op Food Question?
PrincessDaffodil replied to Mzluvee's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So funny that I found this post. Just yesterday I was telling my husband that I wanted to drink the juice out of the pickle jar because I wanted one so badly. I didn't do it, but I'm glad to hear that I can eat them later on. I am only one week post-op, so it won't be long now. -
Aug 22 Marks My One Year!

OMG! You have done such a GREAT job. You look AMAZING, you should feel that way too! How awesome for you. I can't wait until I get there! -
You are doing AWESOME for 3 months! I have a pretty ambitious 3 month goal (I hope to be 70 pounds down). But, I feel I can do it! I am 1 week post-surgery and already 14 pounds down. I think your most dramatic transformation is the photo you took of your back. WOW! What a difference. I didn't even think to take a photo of my back when taking my pre-op pics. I wish you continued success!

I get sleeved today. We are on our way to the hospital now. See you all on the losers bench!

Making good progress. Today I get to drink fluids and take my meds. I'm ready to go home! -
I am going in for my sleeve surgery on Thursday (July 19th). Starting to get anxious. I am excited and super ready for this change, but I am nervous about the actual having surgery part. Eeek! I have had surgery before, but nothing as big as this. I am working on packing and getting everything together today. I hope that will keep my mind off of things for a little while. Tomorrow I start on clear liquids and have to drink that magnesium citrate stuff...yuck. Anyone else getting sleeved on the 19th?

2 Days...or Less!
PrincessDaffodil replied to PrincessDaffodil's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Surgery went great. Surgeon said it couldn't have gone any better. I have been up walking twice. About ready to go around for a third time. The night shift doc said that I look GREAT for someone who had surgery just this morning. My only problem is that I am itchy all over. He said it is probably from the morphine. -

Yay! Went for my second walk and Nurse Kacie gave me a "gold star". She said the walking is going to help with my recovery. So, I'm gonna do whatever it takes to get healthy! The surgeon said that I looked really great inside my tummy, and that the surgery couldn't have gone any better. I am so thankful and blessed. Thank you all for your kind words! -

Hi all. Still groggy, but I'm starting to come around. I can feel that air gurgling around in there. Morphine is working good for me now. -
Introduction Decided To Get Sleeved Instead Of Banded
PrincessDaffodil replied to minniemouse67's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
My surgeon recommend the sleeve for me. They do all three procedures at the weight loss center where I go. He brought up a few key points that helped change my mind...1. I was worried about being able to have children and give good nutrients to the baby after my weight loss, he said I could do that with the sleeve. 2. Short term and long term maintenance - with the lap band, you have to go in for monthly fills to find your weight loss "sweet spot", plus he said that they are finding that many people have to have their lap bands removed after 5-10 years. 3. After researching and asking questions online, I have found so many people who have had to had lap band to sleeve revisions. They all wish they would have gotten the sleeve the first time. One last benefit of the sleeve is that the doctor said that you will lose your weight faster and lose more of it with the sleeve than with the lap band. This is just what I have found with my research, I hope this helps. -

Valuables In The Hospital
PrincessDaffodil replied to bakawaka's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The only thing I am bringing with me is my cell phone, charger, and a book. I am not even going to be wearing my wedding bands or any other jewelry. I would store your items in the bag with your clothes, since you won't have someone there to hold them for you. -
Pre Op Pulmonary And Sleep Study
PrincessDaffodil replied to chad2rad's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had my sleep study about 2 weeks ago. I did not enjoy sleeping with all of those wires and probes on me. There was a fan already on in my room, so I didn't have to worry about that. I did have to get up one time to go to the restroom, but it wasn't too bad. I didn't feel like I slept hardly at all, but, apparently I was sleeping well most of the night (according to the results). I don't have sleep apnea, and I knew I didn't (I don't have ANY of the symptoms and my husband has it, so we know what it is like). The hardest thing for me was the tubes they put in my nose and the probe on my throat. They were really uncomfortable. I just went home and went to sleep after my study. I'm SO glad I didn't have to work the next day or anything. They say you have to be monitored for at least 6 hours. I was there for about 9 hours total. -
This Forum Is Part Of My Weight-Loss Surgery Journey
PrincessDaffodil replied to bakawaka's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I am a recent addition to this group as well. I must agree with you! I love being able to talk to, listen to, and share stories with the many wonderful people on this forum. I am grateful that my doctor was able to schedule my surgery so quickly, because I am excited and pumped up right now and HATE having to wait! My first visit was July 2, and my surgery is scheduled for July 19. This will give me 4 weeks to get my weight loss rolling before I have to go back to work. I am one teacher who is going to spend some time working on herself this summer! Actually I have been going to school to get things ready, so I don't have to worry about it later. But, we would need a whole other forum to talk about that! Hahaha! -
Yay! I got my surgery date today! I have to go in for my pre-op appointment next Monday and my surgery is scheduled for Thursday, July 19. I am so happy that they were able to schedule a date so soon. I want to be off of my modified liquids diet before I go back to school (work). I will be 4 weeks post-op by then, and 12 weeks post-op by my brother-in-law's wedding. I can't wait for my body on the outside to match my personality on the inside. I am so excited! I am motivated to get as much weight as I can off before the wedding. Wahoo!

I feel like I should be doing something more. I am just sitting around waiting for all of my test results to make it to the Dr's office. It's the weekend, so I can't even call and find out what else needs to be done. I'm not even sure if my insurance company has approved me for the procedure yet. I want to keep the ball rolling, but I'm sure there is anything else that can be done right now. I have shopped around for ideas for my liquid diet phase, I even bought a few protein shakes to practice with. I can't wait for this next chapter in my life, and I hate that I have no control over how long this is taking. I want it to hurry up and be surgery time already. Ahhhh! Sitting around doing nothing isn't helping me at all. Is there anything else I can be doing right about now?

Mulitvitamins Make Me Sick!
PrincessDaffodil replied to kamrie37's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I know exactly where you are coming from! Multivatimins always make me sick. Women's one-a-day, even the prenatal vitamins. I use to take children's chewable, but they didn't have all of the stuff I needed. I think it is the iron that makes me sick! But, I'm not entirely sure. -
I Feel Helpless...
PrincessDaffodil replied to PrincessDaffodil's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I called the Dr.'s office this morning. No answer...so I left a message. They haven't called back yet. Then, I called the insurance company. They haven't gotten any paperwork to pre-authorize my surgery. Darn it all...waiting still sucks.
