Who Else Is Doing The 6 Month Wait?
Chubarella replied to amytug's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi, I started my journey in May and I'm hoping to finish in November, then I need to get approved, so I'm looking at a December surgery? My insurance is from the hospital I work for, its called Valley Baptist Health Plans. The surgery is suppose to be 100% paid, but I have to pay everything else out of pocket. I've seen my doctor twice ($30 per visit) and my NUT once ($40 per visit). I need to see him 4 more times and her 5 more times. I already did some labwork (free). I need a Chest X-Ray, Pulmonary Function Test, EKG and 3 visits to do a psychological evaluation ($330). I'm really gonna struggle in November having to pay all those exams...but it will be worth it! I'm 4'11" HW: 363 SW: 323 CW: 308 GW: 120 BMI: 65 -

Hi! My name is Veronica. I'm 39, I have been married to David, who is 2 years younger than me, for almost 15 years. We don't have any kids. I am an only child. I am a PBX Agent, just a fancy title for telephone operator. I remember being chubby since about 5 years old when the doctor put me on a diet. I was always chubby til I got to high school then I went from obese to morbidly obese and am still in that category. The year I got married, I had my gallbladder taken out. Ever since, I've had hypothyroidism. I've tried all kinds of diets except Weight Watchers and Jenny Craig, cause I couldn't afford them. The only one diet that worked for me was Atkins. I lost about 70 pounds back in 2008 but gained back half. I've always wanted bariatric surgery and have finally decided on gastric sleeve. Lets see, I love to play social games, like Farmville/Castleville. I like all kinds of music but usually end up listening to 80s or metal. I love all kinds of movies but prefer comedy or horror. I love all kinds of technology gadgets (can't wait to get my tablet), web surfing, I love to sing karaoke and amateur photography. I wish I could travel, but I don't have the funds for that. I just started seeing my doctor and he's given me a 6 month pre-op diet. My paperwork should go through in November and God willing, by December I can get my surgery

Greetings, My name is Veronica aka Chubarella. I'm 39, married with no kids. I live in South Texas and I work as a telephone operator at a hospital. I currently weigh 310.2 pounds. My highest was in 2008 at 363 pounds. I have known for many years that I wanted weight loss surgery. The gastric bypass was still new to me, so I was scared and never looked into it. By my mid 20s I would have liked to have done the gastric bypass but I couldn't afford it. Into my 30s, I decided to try the Atkins diet and I was able to lose 70 pounds, but once the holidays rolled around, there goes that lost weight. Fortunately, I've been able to keep half of that lost weight off. This year, the hospital I work for said they want their employees healthy and are covering bariatric surgery at 100%!!! I had to look into it immediately. I went to a seminar and I've seen the Internal Medicine doctor twice and the dietitian once. We're looking at 6 months before they can turn in my paperwork for review. I was strongly for gastric bypass surgery, but just recently decided on Vertical Sleeve Gastrectomy. I hope to gain more knowledge and tips in this forum. Also, hoping to make some new friends along the way. Take Care!

Thanks, Nate! I already have low Iron and Vitamin D problems. I don't want to make it worse with the gastric bypass.
