  1. I was sent home with pills that were smaller than an M&M but now at 2 weeks i can take a nexium whole, it's about the size of a peanut M&M
  2. Love that Aussie kelloff. I went back to work still in my same uniform after 2 weeks and 12 kgs and everybody commented. Some asked if I had changed my hair as my face just looked different, others asked if I had had the flu. Do you coworkers know about the surgery?
  3. I experienced "dumping" today and boy isn't that an experience I never want to repeat. I bought a skim latte from a cafe and I'm sure they put full cream milk instead as once I was half way through I started to have the worst stomach cramps ever. I raced home where I spent the next hour in the bathroom feeling like I needed to throw up but only having very loose BMs. Went to bed as I was completely drained of energy. That was at about 2:30 this afternoon and I still feel like rubbish. I haven't had any full cream milk for about 6 weeks and was likely just too much fat in 1 hit.
  4. Vsg was like a holiday compared to childbirth. 22hrs of labour, tear from one end to the other, child tearing the skin off your delicate nipples every 3 hrs, uterus contracting back into shape, mastitis.... Etc. Vsg I had 4 peaceful nights in hospital with no nurses waking me up in the middle of the night to feed, and no annoying visitors coming in and out all day forcing you to stay awake. Needless to say, if hubby wants more kids, next time it's his turn to carry and deliver it.
  5. Just had my 2 week post op appointment and it was great. I've graduated to purees and the dr thinks I'm healing nicely. Best of all, lots of pre sleevers asked me how far out I was and complemented me on how well I'm doing.

    How Much Weight

    26lb or 12kg surgery 13th August.
  7. I had a small sundae from macdonalds today, no topping, and only ate about 3 of the tiny spoons worth of it. I wanted it, so I got it, I had enough to curb the craving, and stopped when I lost interest and didn't want any more. I do not feel guilty at all. Learning that want my head wants and what my tummy likes are now 2 different things.
  8. Just realized that I'm only 3kgs away from being overweight!!!! Nearly at my first goal, so excited!!! How long do you think it will take to lose 3kg? I'm 2 weeks post-op tomorrow.

    Ladies What Is Your Type?

I'm a pear, always have been. I've always had average sized bust, waist and large bum and thighs. Even without a lot of fat I still have very wide hips, and I don't see my boobs getting any bigger, so I guess I'll stay a pear.
  10. I'm 12 days post op and haven't had a BM since before surgery. I've tried benefibre, prune juice, mixing all bran in my protein shakes and still don't even feel like I need to go. Today I decided to go to the local Indian takeaway and get a small butter chicken, but just the sauce. Then I put that through the finest sieve I had. Hopefully will go straight through me.
  11. My dr gave my 3 big a4 glossy prints of pictures he took while he was operating. The first was of my new stomach with the bougie still in, the second was of the part of my stomach he removed, that he had filled with saline to show me how big it was, and the third was of my new stomach all sewn nice and tight into its new home with surrounding tissue. He was really very proud as he was explaining them to me. I felt reassured that he took so much pride in his work that he wanted to share it with me. I really liked the pics and have kept them. All the nurses had a look at them. Gave me a bit of an insight into how it all happens. It's not often I'm happy to have my photo taken, but these I didn't mind. Anybody else got happy snaps after surgery?
  12. I always wear my jeans when I weigh myself, then if I need a pick-me-up, I'll weigh in my pjs. Always made me feel better seeing some movement. Also, if you've had a crappy time losing and you don't want to be embarrassed and not losing weight, just wear lighter clothes. I'm a big fat (getting less fat) cheater. Also, I'm so jealous of those that are allowed fruit on the pre-op diet. They were a no no for me, even juice and it's so high in sugar. Only fruit I was allowed was tomatoes.
  13. He filled the stomach with saline, I wish I could have "blown it up" literally. So glad it's not in my anymore.
  14. New stomach with bougie still in Old stomach filled with saline.
  15. Anybody pre sleeve should ask the surgeon. No harm in asking and they are pretty cool.
  16. Anybody want to see the pics my surgeon took of my stomach? I put them on another forum and no1 else seems to have been given any.
  17. It's the tube they put in as a guide for the shape of the new stomach. They staple close to it then cut away the old stomach.
  18. And I'm a low bmi. I was only 86kg at surgery. (multiply by 2.2 for lb)
  19. Oh no!!!! I did this so badly leading up to surgery. I had my initial appt with surgeon early july. Didn't start pre op diet until August. The entire month of july I was having "last meals" and I was gorging myself so badly and justifying it because of impending surgery. I know exactly how you feel. I was only after I looked at my empty plates (yes, plural) after a lunch I thought about how many cups of food that was, it was about 8. Then I had a twin pack snickers because I felt sad. It made the pre op diet so much harder because I increased my intake so much, prior, that i felt so hungry when i had to be on liquids. I knew this the whole month of July, and did it anyway. Thank goodness for the sleeve for saving us from ourselves.
  20. Immediately after surgery my dr came and saw me with pictures he had taken during the procedure. There are 3 big a4 glossy prints, one of my new stomach with bougie still in, one of the stomach that was removed an filled with saline to test the staples and to show me how big it was and one of my stomach after he had sewn all the tissue back to it and made it all pretty. I still have the pics. Ask your surgeon if he takes pictures and if he has yours. It may help you for future surgeries, if you need them.
