I was sleeved the day before you. I still can't get in all of my protein, water or vitamins on any 1 day. I found I was always hungry, the dr put me on nexium. Has helped tremendously. I had an acid stomach and was mistaking it for hunger. My biggest problem is the amount of food I now throw out. As someone who never had leftovers, I'm struggling when I make 1/2 cup of purée and only eat 2 tablespoons before feeling full.
  3. I am Australian, so I was sleeved in Sydney.
  4. My surgeon was more interested in capacity rather than weight. This is 1 of 3 pictures he gave me post op. i love it!!!
  5. I was in for 4 nights / 5 days. Take trackies that are ok to walk around the ward and see visitors in, but also comfortable enough to sleep in incase you lay down for "just a minute" and wake up 4 hours later. I took a book, slippers, a strapless or convert able bra (if you have a drip, it's easier to take one of the straps off than get the nurse to undo the drip) chewing gum (you will have death breath, and it's nice to have something in your mouth, could only do this after day 3, prior, made me feel sick.) no vomiting. Wet wipes or baby wipes, to freshen yourself up and make you feel more human, hand sanitizer ( use it every time you venture out of your room) That's all I can think of. And I was on optifast 5 days post op. they were too sweet though, so I mixed skim milk powder with skim milk. Sounds gross, but heaps of protein and just tastes like milk. Good luck.
  6. Found myself on the floor of the shower after trying to remove one of the dressings. My dr said to remove them today in the shower and I felt like I was going to vomit the whole time. Finally got 1 off, saw that there wasn't even a line where the incision was, was impressed, then woke up on the floor. I still have 4 to go. Any suggestions?

    Removing Dressings.

I had big padded dressings and the little tapes. I was trying to remove the big ones, but with all the dried blood they were stuck to the little tapes so I was pulling the whole lot off in one go.

    Removing Dressings.

I ended up doing it lying on the bed with some zoff dressing remover. Felt light headed when I got up, but didn't hit the deck.
  9. So looking forward to not needing the "curve embracer" jeans, and just being able to try on a pair of normal bootlegs. Pre op, even the 18 s wouldn't go up over my thunder thighs. I'm waiting until i know I will fit before I try on. I hate getting clothes into the fitting room and giving them back because they don't fit. I know you guys know what I'm talking about.
  10. 1ST MILESTONE REACHED!!! Exactly 3 weeks post op tomorrow and I just reached my first milestone. I'm no longer obese and I am less than 80kgs. I started at 96kg in July, was 88kg at surgery and am now 79kg (this evening, so will be perhaps less in the morning. I'm always heavier at night). I've gone from my size 16 work pants being tight (should have been an 18 but was in denial) to needing a belt. Not a 14 yet, but a belt is good. And a size 12 top if it hasn't got sleeves. Still have fat arms. I'm finding it hard to buy dresses for my shape now, but am absoloutly smitten with how my body is shrinking. Next milestone, size 14 jeans.
  11. Happy fathers day then kayargh. We should be able to celebrate it as we are both mum and dad.
  12. I've never seen the raspberry ones, that sounds yum, then at least I would be getting electrolytes. Today I ate a teaspoon of apple purée for Breakfast and a tablespoon of mashed potato for lunch. No dinner. I know this isn't good, but I hate having to bolt to the loo with no notice. I was happier when I was constipated. Lol.
  13. I am living on my own with my 6year old daughter and 9 month old boxer puppy. I intentionally stopped taking the pain meds to give myself reason to slow down. If it hurt when I did something, I stopped doing it. If I had been up to the eyeballs with pain meds, I know I would have done a lot more than was safe at the time, but wouldn't have been aware as it wouldn't cause any pain. Am I making sense? I'm don't enjoy pain, or anything like that, I just like to be in touch with my body and be able to hear its objections. It's a good way to force yourself to rest and not do too much.
  14. Don't do what I did and have a month of "last meals" before you have to start your pre-op diet. I gorged myself on everything that was bad for me because I wouldn't be able to have it later so when it came time to start liquids, I had become so addicted to the bad stuff I was having really bad withdrawals. You can do it a few times, just not 3 times a day for a month.
  15. Thanks kayargh. You're exactly right with how I'm feeling. My mum actually said to me this week "oh no... Where have you're boobs gone? See if you can lose it from your bottom instead" Gee, thanks mum. I'll do my best. "body, now you listen up. Put my boobs back where you found them and take my bum as ransom. Ok?" I signed up for a slow and steady process, I should be very thankful to have reached "overweight" this soon and be a little kinder to body. It's working hard.
  16. Love the profile pics. I wish I took a before one. You can see the most amazing difference. Well done.
  17. I lost about 7 kgs on Optifast for 2 weeks, so, I guess close to 10 can be done. Just stick to it like glue and drink heaps and heaps of Water. A little exercise won't hurt either, but don't go nuts. I find when I exercise really hard I don't see a big difference on the scales, and thats what they're looking at. I'm really bummed at the moment. I was asked by a group of work mates to go to the casino after work tomorrow night and I was really looking forward to it and excited to wear some of my old "skinny" clothes. I tried on 9 of my fave size 14 dresses and guess what!!! They're too damn big!!! I know that this is a good problem to have, but I'm nowhere near looking good in a 12 as my tummy and bust have disappeared (the boobs are always 1st to go) but my bum and thighs are still fitting into size 16 pants. I'm disappointed I didn't get to wear all of my beautiful dresses again, but happy that the weight is coming off. Just wish it would come off the areas I want it to.

    Fast Track To Sleeve

I decided to have surgery end of June, after never having contemplated it. Had appt with surgeon the next week who said he could do it in a fortnight. I had to give work 4 weeks notice for that much leave so had it early August. About 6 weeks from thought to surgery.
  19. My work is the same. I told 1 workmate the truth and the rest think I had a bad gastric bug. I like it when people say to me when I tell them how much weight I've lost "oh it's such a shame you'll just put it all back on again". I just smile and say I'm just focusing on my health. And I am. I can't wait until I've lost enough weight to do something really dramatic with my hair so I look like a different person.
